Moon's POV
We come to a stop in front of my pack house. I turn to gaze at Liam but surprisingly he already has his eyes on me. I smile shyly and fiddle with my palms, just the way he glares at me is enough to melt my heart and make me smile.
Liam clears his throat and points towards the gate.
"You have to go in right?" He asks raising a brow at me. With all sincerity, I do not want to. I enjoyed every bit of my time with Liam and I want more. No one has ever made me feel this way before, not even Aiden. I mean I feel loved, I feel like he enjoys my company.
I nod my head in agreement. "Thank you for walking me back to my pack house and for saving my life." I say. I attempt to walk towards the gate but Liam grabs me by the wrist so quickly. I turn to raise a brow at him in confusion.
"Moon. I was going to ask if we could see each other again. I mean just stay friends at least until you agree to accept me as your mate." He says.
I release a heavy sigh, as much as I want to agree to have Liam as my mate. I can not trust him, not when I just got rejected by Aiden a few days ago, everything is still like a surprise to me. I always believed that Aiden and I were destined for each other but after he rejected me in front of everyone and made it clear that I was only his friend and nothing more, I do not think I can trust anyone after that.
"Calm down Moon, I am not rushing you at all I swear. I just want you to know that I am interested in you and your personality." Liam says with a reassuring smile.
I nod my head and say "Well, in that case, I guess we can see each other tomorrow. Although I would have to be careful about it because no one should know that I am seeing the Alpha of a rival pack." I say in a low tone.
Surprisingly, a big smile spreads across Liam's face as he nods his head excitedly. Wow, I did not think I was doing him such a huge favor, that means he must like me.
"Thank you, I will see you tomorrow. Same place yeah?" He asks. I nod my head in agreement. Hopefully, the same muscular men from earlier do not come for me tomorrow.
"Or I could stop by at the front of your packhouse?" Liam asks with a small shrug. I nudge his shoulder and hastily shake my head in disagreement. He could get caught and the both of us would be in trouble for it.
"No, it is fine. I will see you at the same spot I saw you today. Goodnight." I say hastily. I do not wait for his reply, I slowly push the gate open and step into the pack compound. I wait for the guards to snap at me for sneaking out in the first place but surprisingly there is no one around. I take it as a big opportunity for me. I hastily dash into the hallways and make my way towards my room. I push the door open and throw myself on the bed.
A huge smile spreads across my face and that is when I realize that I might have enjoyed Liam's company way more than he enjoyed mine.
I like him and I think he must be right, we are most likely destined for each other. I just need time, time, and space for myself and I hope Liam can wait for me.
The next day, I do not waste time. Once it is evening, I escape out of the pack house just to see Liam and like promised, I see him waiting for me at the spot we met yesterday. I felt happy to see him and we bonded over a lot of things that we seem to have in common.
It goes on like that for the next few days, I keep seeing Liam until I start to wonder if this might be too good to be real, my mind tells me that this is not going to last for a long while but I find it hard to accept the simple truth, I do not want any of this to end. Not when I am slowly becoming very attached to him, although when has things ever been good for me? I sigh when I realize that every good thing that has happened to me before has always been temporary.
I walk out of my room not after taking one last glance at myself in the mirror. I have been doing that a lot too, checking myself and making sure I look pretty enough for Liam. I do not know when all of this started but I think my feelings for Liam keep intensifying each minute I spend time with him. I do not know if it is a good thing, especially when I have a bad feeling that something is about to go wrong.
I run a hand through my hair in frustration and brush off the bad feeling. I will just see Liam and ask him to be more careful. I walk out of my room and make my way down the stairs. As usual, everywhere is quiet and the guards are not at the gate. That is how it has been for the past few days now, the guards have been leaving the gate and I am starting to think that they might just be neglecting their jobs and drinking their lives away.
Anyway, it is a win for me. I take that opportunity to sneak out. My hands reach for the gate and I am about to unlock it until I hear someone yell my name.
My entire body freezes and my hands become really cold at the familiarity of the voice. I gulp a lump down my throat and slowly turn around to gaze at the culprit. It is no one other than Aiden himself. What is he doing here and why does it feel like he has been following me?
I clutch my chest tight and pause to release a heavy sigh of relief. At least I was not caught by someone in a higher position in the pack.
"Moon?" Aiden calls out my name and I fight the urge to warm him to never call out my name.
"What do you want?" I snap at him with a frown on my face. Aiden slowly walks towards me with his hands tucked into his sweatpants. He finally freezes in his steps right in front of me and sighs heavily.
"How are you? How have you been?" Aiden asks with a genuinely concerned look on his face. What is with the sudden random question? Anyway, I answer him to avoid any suspicions. I do not want him to know that I have been seeing Alpha Liam unless he might ruin everything. I play along and reply. "I have been good, thank you for asking."
"You sure?" He asks. Why is he pushing further? Is there something Aiden is here to tell me? I do not honestly like this feeling, the feeling that he is about to say something shocking.
"Why would I not be? Do you expect me to cry my eyes out every single day just because you rejected me?" I snap at him.
"I see you have moved on." Aiden says rubbing his chin. I stagger backward and gulp a lump down my throat as his next words cause me to shiver in fear.
"I know you have been seeing Alpha Liam of the Blood Moon pack."
Liam’s P.O.VI have been waiting for Moon at our usual spot, but she is nowhere to be found. Glancing at my wristwatch, the time reads 8:17 p.m., and she has never been this late since our usual meet-ups four days ago. I am a real definition of ‘restless’, I can’t stop the many questions popping up in my head.Did I do something she didn’t like during our last meet-up? At this question, I tried to remember any action of mine that would have made her feel uncomfortable, but I found none; she promised to see me today. She gave me her word.Or did she get caught? But no one would stop a grown lady from stepping out for a bit; it isn’t 9 yet, and if she got caught, I would have been notified.Did she suddenly decide not to come see me? Now, I regret not asking her for a phone number; it would have been easier to phone her up and know what exactly is keeping her from being with me.“Is anything the problem Alpha?” Kai, my Beta asked, cutting into my long train of thoughts.I looked at him
“Mum?” A little boy of 9 called his sickly-looking mother, but her eyes remained closed. He looked taller than a boy of 9, fierce, and no doubt he was extremely strong too. Looking down at the brown envelope in his hand, his sad eyes clouded with tears.“Mum, you need to eat. I brought you something.” His voice wasn’t stable this time.He made a sound by rubbing the envelope together to get his attention but she still kept mute, deep into her sleep like she would not need to ever wake up.He sniffled and closed his eyes for a little while as if to stop the tears from dropping but they didn’t stop. His face became wet and he made muffled sounds to stop crying out loud like a baby.“Son...” A whisper-like sound too small to sound called, but the ever-alerted Liam heard it.Snapping his closed eyes open to reveal yellow orbs, he stared at his skeleton-liked mother with anxiety and excitement.“Yes – yes, mother. I brought…” His words were stumbling over each other as he hurriedly bent.“
Aiden’s POVI watched her sneak out of the Pack’s house again, and my heart skipped a beat involuntarily. I am supposed to ignore her but I can’t. Moon.I saw her stop, and my eyes widened on their own; that wasn’t supposed to be heard. It was meant to be for my ears alone. How did my vocal tract produce such loud noise? I saw her trembling hands stop halfway, and I had no other option but to walk towards her, all the time wondering what kind of conversation we would have.I hadn’t even gotten close to her but she already snapped at me. A part of me knows she was hurt by my action a few days ago, but a larger part of me is vexed that she has my replacement already.I swear I can see her wishing I die right in front of her with the intensity of her gaze. After her question, I let out an unintentional sigh. ‘What do I want?’ Even I don’t have the answer to that.I guess I can start this unplanned meeting by enquiring about her state of health. I am genuinely concerned, but her playin
Bringing his hand slowly to her face, Moon’s brows drew together in confusion as her eyes scanned his face before barely following his hands. He saw her throat bob, her lashes twitch, and her mouth tremble; maybe she knew what he wanted to do. Looking at the dumbfounded man a few feet behind Moon, he gave a sly smile before swooping down on Moon’s lip. Moon drew a sharp intake of air seeing his face draw dangerously close to hers at a fast yet slow pace. A warning bell blared into her ears. She knew she ought to disentangle herself from him, but a part of her wanted to know how It felt to be accepted by a long-lost crush.Aiden’s lips froze on Moon’s lips with his eyes wide open and staring at hers which were shit tightly. For the first time in a long time, his already beating heart began to beat faster than usual. With his heartbeat racing faster than usual, his hands a little shaky as he tried to stabilize them, he proceeded to kiss her. First, slowly sucking at her supple lips,
Diana’s POV.I had been watching Aiden from the minute that stupid Moon found the courage from Selena’s knows-where to confess her feelings to my man-to-be. I watched his mocking smiles and snide and harsh comments, but within me, I knew they were all fake, a façade to mask his real feelings. He mocks her feelings, but the hurt in his eyes can’t be masked; he pretends to be indifferent, but his eyes secretly follow her around. The same night after his rejection, I followed him only to see him walk out of the gate. I would have gone after him if only I didn’t have these stupid friends of mine tailing me and worshipping even my footprints.I stayed awake, waiting for him just to see her sneak in first then, he followed. The feeling I felt that mightn’t be forgotten in a hurry as I thought about the audacity of that dirty, weak werewolf to try snatching my man from me.I suspect what they did at the dining was for show, and they had something serious going on beneath the surface. Planni
Moon’s POV. Sweet moon goddess! Whoever it was at the door wasn’t planning on leaving any time soon. After the first knock and not receiving an answer, (s)he knocked again, this time, with more urgency. Aiden hovered over me, I opened one of my eyes to peek at him, and I could see his jaw tick as his eyes journeyed from me to the door as if trying to make a last-minute plan. I was both grateful for and mortified at the knock and whoever it was behind it. It succeeded in stopping the beast I didn’t realize I fell in love with, but knowing that the person behind the door might have seen Aiden carry me like a sack of potatoes over his shoulder made me sick to my stomach. Finally, Aiden lets go of me and I fall back to the bed, a little jittery to feel relieved.“Shit, shit, shit!” I hear him say as he starts pacing to and fro, his hand making a mess of his already messy hair. Suddenly, he stopped and looked straight at me. I can’t read his expression but I was quick to scurry away
Aiden’s POVWalking down the hallway with Diana, I try my best to restrain my anger. Moon’s disappointed face keeps popping up in my head all through the awkwardly silent walk to the skies knows where. “You are not talking Aiden.” I hear her disgustingly sweet voice. I pay her no mind, silently wishing I had the strength to resist the temptation of strangling her later. When we reach an open space close to the gate, she stops, and I do, too, already hating the fact that I had to follow her. Her hidden agenda isn’t too hidden. She faced me and I did but hardly looked at her for a little more than a minute or two before finding another place to keep my gaze at. She searches my face, probably looking for a little crack to pound on and expand. “Aiden.” She purrs. She is suddenly gentle and soft-spoken, not like the devil I encountered a few minutes ago right in front of my doorstep. This annoying ‘thing’.I am tempted to look at her face. I almost give a loud laugh but hold back mys
Liam’s POVWith the gate closed to my face, I could not picture myself leaving even with all the hurt and pain. I know I should get moving; a mate bond can always be rejected, but the mere thought of that does something weird to my brain.I can only picture myself walking towards the gate and breaking into it to take her away from him, the strange guy I know nothing of but it strikes me at once. What if he is the one she said she confessed her feelings to and got rejected? You can’t control how you feel when they make impulsive actions, can you?No, is this me trying to defend her? I should picture myself moving but no, I am stuck and invisibly glued to the ground. When the image of what happened a few whiles ago repeated in my head, I rushed towards the tree behind me and gave it a good blow. It shakes from the impact, but the pain in my knuckles awakens my senses.I found myself sliding down to sit on one of the extra large tree roots poking out of the ground. I wondered why I sat
The sun peeked into the room through the curtain and Liam groaned at the splitting headache he felt. His body felt weird, and there was an unfamiliar weight on him; he struggled to open his eyes, but in the process of doing so, he thought his head was going to split into two, so he kept them closed, taking his time to finally open them. First, his right eye, but things were a little blurry; then, his left eye. Looking around his room which was a mess, his brain finally registered that there was something or someone on him. Seeing the familiar brown curly hair on her head, Liam’s heart skipped a bit. ‘Moon?’ was the first thought that came to his head but the connection wasn’t there. Now, his heart was thudding in anticipation and surprise. Who was this person on him? What had he done last night? He struggled to remember. She moved on him, and he realized again with growing alarm that he was naked. NAKED! And she was, too! Now, he was beginning to breathe fast. No, he couldn’t
Withdrawing his already swollen lips from hers with a thin silver line being the only connection between their lips, he looked at the Beta in excessive pain, cutting the thin line of saliva between Harper and him. Gently detaching her body from his, he stood up, keeping her with utmost care on his seat before proceeding to walk towards Kia who was now in a kneeling position.“What just happened?” He asked squatting to Kia’s level.“Did you just try to harm Moon and me?” His smile was daunting and mirthless.“No, NO. She isn’t Moon!” Kia found himself yelling over the sound of music, trying to knock some sense into Liam’s head. “Oh, now you are being unrealistic.” Liam sucked his teeth.“Why didn’t I think of this method before now?” He asked himself as he watched his Beta writhing in pain.“All right, for old time's sake, I will help you.” The words flowed lightly from his lips, and Kia looked at him through the severe pain he was going through.“You can free yourself from this pain
“You can leave and enjoy the party to your satisfaction. Any more disruption and you are out.” He said waving them off and urging the acting waiter to pour more wine into his empty glass.“You should stop now; you are drunk,” Kia warned, giving the man a sign to stop pouring his drink.“It seems like you have forgotten your oath just in a few minutes.” Liam threatened glaring at Kia.“Know your place.” He said and reached out his hand, taking the bottle of wine from the waiter.“You rather listen to him, than listen to me?” Liam asked the confused man who had this fright on his face with a stance ever ready to bolt out of his position. “I am sorry Alpha, I…” “Get out!” Liam ordered, the fire in his yellow orbs blazing even more as the man ran out immediately.Taking another stick of cigar, Liam was about to light when a strong perfume hit his nostrils.“Let me do that for you, Alpha Liam.” The coquettish voice said, making him pause his actions and give a frown before looking up at
“Kneel properly or leave,” Liam ordered using his aura as an Alpha. “I won’t do this against your will.” He continued. “If you don’t want to, walk out.”“I will.” “You will?”“You will what?” Liam asked him. “I will take the oath.” “Draw your blood,” Liam commanded and watched Kia bite into his hand long and hard enough to get his blood out. Following Liam’s finger, Kia made his blood drop on the place pointed out, and Liam did the same. “I swear to always be loyal to Alpha Liam of the Blood Moon pack as his Beta till eternity,” Kia swore and watched his blood simmer, and soon, both bloods mixed themselves thoroughly, and they were gone. “What?” Liam asked Kia when he looked up at him in question. “Were you thinking I would swear to be loyal to you too?” He asked, the amusement in his voice a bit too loud. “Henceforth, you are bound to me, body, wolf, and soul. You can choose to betray me at your risk.” Alpha Liam said healing himself and making a show of flexing his muscle
Liam’s POVCalming myself down in this situation is a hard task, but I do. I had always had absolute control over my emotions until meeting Moon just recently. On the thought of her, I waited till it got a little darker before deciding to move out. I can’t remember the last time I made use of my ability, but this night, to see Moon, I will.In Kia’s head, I know he thinks I have transferred all of my ability to him. He doesn’t know he just has a fraction of it and nothing more. Though I have lost my ability to be invisible, the ability to pass through hard surfaces was still present. Standing up and deliberately dressing in a black sleeveless muscle shirt and shorts, I made my way through the walls towards the back of the pack house. Remembering something, I walked back into my room through the wall and created an illusion of me sleeping. Knowing Kia, he would come in occasionally without prior notice to check up on me. Having been satisfied with the illusion of myself sleeping on
Liam’s POV.Diana? She mentioned her name in the passing, but I held onto that while pretending not to hear her. What was it she was spewing about Moon? She looked familiar and malicious; I know I shouldn’t trust her, but how could I not? After getting stood up by my mate and stumbling upon her kissing another man. “She filled my head with a lot of nonsense,” I said grabbing my hair. But on saying that, I wonder who did. Moon or Diana? Did Moon fabricate tales to make me pity her? Love her? Or, is Diana the right one? After all, I can’t wipe away the fact that there are bits of truth in her words. After that night, standing up with extreme hurt and heartache, I vowed never to set foot there anymore. Moon, Diana, and the Silverstone pack can all go to hell. Walking back home wasn’t as easy as I thought. Heartbreak was the last thing I expected to experience, but I did experience it: not being able to sleep, not being able to eat well enough, losing interest in things, and wanting
The past Moon would have been over the moon at that question, not this Moon. Looking into his eyes, she was almost deceived for a moment that he was sincere. At this moment, she noticed something she had been blind to all along. He had only ever used the word ‘like’* around her and not ‘love,’ not to mention his indifference to her being bullied, his joining in the fun of making a complete mockery of her, and his acting like he didn’t know her at all. “You disgust me.” Moon spat out glaring hard at him. “What did you just say?” He asked, taking a step closer to her with his eyes red and wide open. “You claim to LIKE me,” Moon said, a chortle escaping her lips despite the pain she was in. “I do like you, and there is no need to put it down for some previously homeless bastard.” He said with his lips lifted like he had some nuts loosed. Moon’s hands itched to smack his face at his tagging Liam a homeless bastard. Swallowing the harsh words to avoid any rash reaction from him, she
Moon’s eyes stared at the whiteness of his eyes in the dark in horror after he lay on top of her, lightly placing his weight on her while supporting the rest of it with his hands on the floor. “Let me help you, Moon.” He whispered in her ears. Shaking off the feeling of anxiety spreading speedily along her body parts and coming to settle in her stomach, she closed her eyes to avoid looking at his face which was closer than normal to hers. “Get off me Aiden.” She pleaded gently, a little tear peeking out of her eyelids.“I can’t. If I do, you’d run off and if you run off, there is a possibility of being caught by the guards.” He said. “You know the guards are on the lookout for you?” He asked her softly. Snapping her eyes open, she furrowed her brow at his craftiness. “And whose fault is it huh? Whose fault is it?” “I was only doing it for your good Moon.”“Allow my name to stay out of your lips.” She said irritated by the affectionate way he called her. “See, someone is coming
Moon’s POVBending with a pounding heart, I carried the parcel and waited for a bit to see if someone from somewhere would pounce on me and yell to attract attention. When nothing of such happened, I slowly receded into my room with the parcel in my hand. It felt a little heavy, I had to use both hands. Sitting on the side of my bed, I kept the parcel, studied it, and contemplated sneaking out to meet Liam first. “But…”Okay, never mind, I will just open it slowly. Drawing it carefully close to me, I take my time unwrapping the carefully packed parcel just in case there is a need to repackage it back the way it was packaged.Inside this beautifully wrapped package, I saw two other wrapped packages. By this time, my heart was thundering. What if I blow up? Or is something harmful in the parcel? Another unwanted memory flashed in my mind, but I blinked it away.Picking one parcel and throwing care into the wind. I tore it open to see a little note attached to the attractive-looking
