We don't choose the parents we are born to, neither do we choose our mate. Moonstone city is home to multiple werewolf clans cohabitating in an odd mixture of traditional werewolf beliefs and modern lifestyle. Ada King is the daughter of one of the most powerful Alphas and has been educated in manners, politics and cold-blooded decision making fit for the "princess" of the city. Everyone expects a typical life of being mated to another Alpha and becoming an influential Luna; however, what is not typical is that Ada not only searches for her mate for months but also rejects him in a conference room full of witnesses, and with a signed contract. Damien Sevach, furious of losing his mate in such a way, requests an ultimatum of "Mates with Benefits". He wants to learn what motivated Ada and what hides behind her perfect façade.
View More“So why do you think Princess herself has requested a meeting?” asked one of the two men sitting in the conference room.
Damien didn’t answer, looking out of the wall of windows overlooking the city. It was early in the morning and the crisp air was flooding the modern room from the open window. Despite that, his suit seemed too tight and uncomfortable.
“The rumor has it she has been visiting the most influential men her age for the past three months. People say she is looking for her mate, others think she is plotting something against or for her father,” continued Damien’s Beta.
Anything coming from that clan, that family couldn’t be simple.
Meanwhile, all the way down on the first floor of the tall building that was the financial pride of the Black clan, Alpha Damien’s assistant sat behind the gigantic front desk trying to hide her bitter face as much as possible. Tea, coffee, and small pastries from the bakery around the corner. It was too early for any employee to be there, including the receptionist. So here she was playing a servant for the Princess. Their clan wasn’t on good terms with Andre King’s clan anyway. She was not sure why Alpha Damien was being so welcoming to the Princess.
Her half-asleep unenthusiastic thoughts were interrupted when the sliding doors opened and walked in the famous daughter of the King clan. How could this woman be only twenty years old? Her large sunglasses hid her eyes, hair was up in an effortless French braid that looked chic nonetheless. Red-tainted lips quirked up in a polite but confident smile, as shapely legs made elegant steps creating echoing sounds of high heels hitting the marble floor.
Begrudgingly she appreciated Princess’ white blouse that hugged her torso tightly, covered with a pistachio blazer, and finished with deep green high-waisted trousers that ended above her ankles. The long gold chain with a small ancient-looking medallion was bouncing off her curvy chest.
It took the assistant a moment to get her smile back on before greeting Miss King politely and inviting her to follow her. The young woman carried a certain aura around her; she was definitely an Alpha, not simply of Alpha blood.
Ada was thankful for the extra minutes in the elevator and through the still semi-dark halls surrounded by empty offices. The building was modern and screamed financial power, just what she expected from Damien Sevach. Silent prayers of it not being him kept repeating themselves, pulling her attention to the upcoming task. The last meeting with yet another candidate had failed, leading her closer and closer to Damien. She had already visited so many young men, starting with the ones she either disliked or was indifferent to.
The assistant paused in front of a door indicating they had arrived. Ada took a deep breath feeling her wolf asleep.
Damien was getting annoyed at Arsen’s theories behind this meeting. His newest idea was that Ada King was plotting to poison them and take over their newly acquired clan after all their hard work. The clock showed three minutes to seven and he knew she would be there soon.
As he was glaring at Arsen, her scent floated towards him. It wasn’t flowers like other attractive females he knew. This was the smell of mountains during the cold months of winter. It was fresh, awakening, and powerful. The door opened, he saw Ada walk in and lose her smile the moment their eyes met. Her beautiful face showed a moment of something unpleasant, regret possibly, before going back to typical neutrality.
Arsen was surprised to see Damien stand up and Ada stop by the door. This was not how their business meetings usually started. He silently cursed the fates already guessing what was happening. Ada King was not a good Luna candidate. She was the daughter of that lunatic. His Alpha needed someone to improve his position not jeopardize it. Arsen’s last hope that his assumptions were wrong shattered when Damien crossed the room quickly, grabbed her nape, and buried his face in her neck. A roaring “Mine!” was muffled against her skin but the room filled with his overbearing aura making sure no other wolf would dare to approach what was his.
Damien couldn’t think straight. His wolf instincts had taken over immediately. She looked as beautiful as he remembered, but she had grown into her features since their teen years. Her scent was the thing driving his common sense away. He kept inhaling hoping for the fire in his veins to get pacified by the fresh snow-like scent nestled in her hair. He could hear her breaths. Warm humid breaths going in and out of those small but plump lips.
Desperate attempts to gain control kept resulting in nothing. Her eyes... focusing on them could ground him. He still remembered those giant expressive green eyes. Now that he thought about it, her eyes had looked terrified the moment she had looked at him. Damien froze. She wasn’t moving or saying anything. She stood in his arms like a marble statue. Long deep breaths and an erratic heartbeat were the only sign she wasn’t an ancient statue of Moon Goddess after all.
After a few more deep gulps of her scent, he stepped back to take a look at her face. Her facial features were schooled to neutral politeness but there was some kind of emotion swimming in those forest eyes. Izolda Mikhailovna, the founder of the school they all attended, would be proud of how skillfully Ada was concealing what was going on in her mind. She took a step back and opened her palm showing a vial with liquid that looked like herbal tea all while carefully avoiding looking into his eyes.
“Mr. Sevach, please drink this. It will suppress your wolf and we can start our discussion,” was all she said and waited with her palm outstretched to him.
Damien’s eyes hardened first looking at the vial then at his mate. Nothing, absolutely nothing was showing on her face. A newly mated female. She should have been blushing, smiling, spreading her legs for him. Not Ada King. She was simply looking somewhere right behind his left ear.
Arsen was quick to jump between them knowing Damien’s brain would be fucking useless at that moment. Most wolves would have been making out and giggling like idiots after finding their mate. Even Damien Sevach shouldn’t be immune to mate bond euphoria.
Arsen was standing next to him, frowning at Ada’s palm holding the vial, obviously indicating that no drinking of questionable substances would be happening. The she-devil took another deep breath and continued, “As we all already understood, Mr. Sevach and I are fated mates. However, I am not interested in the traditional relationship of this bond. I am here to discuss a deal.”
Arsen’s jaw dropped. This woman was worse than her father. Damien hadn’t moved or said anything. He stared at her with cold dangerous eyes.
Ada allowed herself to drink him in while waiting for his answer. He was a man now. Same black straight hair, pitch-black eyes, white skin, and darker than expected lips. He was much taller than her. When he had hugged her, she had barely made it above his strong jaw even on her heels. His build was never bulky but broad shoulders gave away the powerful male.
Damien steadily walked back to his chair.
“Is that a mixture made by a witch to pacify the mate bond?”
“Yes,” was all she said.
“Arsen, bring it over, please.”
Arsen mind linked Damien as he carried the vial from Ada. - Are you sure this is safe to drink?
I don’t see why she would harm me; this family strikes their deals first before killing the opponents - Damien replied.
Ada watched Damien’s Adam’s apple move as he drank the concoction. Mate bond or not, he had always been attractive.
“It will take about 20 minutes to take effect. Arsen, could you direct me to the ladies’ room?”
Arsen was surprised she remembered his name but followed her intending to keep an eye on her for the next 20 minutes. This situation was a shitshow. Alpha getting rejected by his Luna. It would weaken Damien. The stuck-up elders of their clan would only be happy to attribute this to his "wrong" heritage.
Ada nodded her thanks to the Beta before entering the restroom. Thankfully there was a small sitting area. She sank into the armchair and tried to slow her heartbeat. Her face remained in its polite, neutral state. A lifetime around her father and a few years under Izolda Mikhailovna’s teachings was enough to solidify her facial muscles into that mask. She calmly straightened imaginary wrinkles on her trousers while checking the watch on her wrist periodically. No need to spend even an extra minute in the same room with him.
Damien sat in the conference room watching a young woman arrange coffee and pastries on the small table in the corner. The more present part of his mind was trying to remember her name as she was newly hired. The back of his brain was a storm of anger, arousal, and something painful. He could feel the witch’s concoction working slowly. The thunder and lightning of his anger were calming down, after all, anger was useless in this situation. Chaos in his chest had slowed down to the point he could barely feel any pain.
The pain of not being good enough even for his mate. Doubts slithered into his subconscious, doubts created by years of being told his power, his worthiness was a mistake, an oversight by Mood Goddess. Burying those doubts deep like he had always done, he noticed that all was left was the monotonous breeze of his arousal.
4 Years Later Ada sat in the car adjusting the hem of her dress as the city hummed outside of the window. Her left hand was permanently kidnapped by a large masculine hand, her knuckles and fingertips were used to soft chaste kisses. She looked at the man one hand on the steering wheel the watch that she gifted him peeking out of the shirt sleeve. He looked good in a black slick tuxedo. Black shirt underneath was matched with a black tie, his usual style or the lack of it. The only color was in the cufflinks. Black circle with a dark golden wolf inside. He had those made custom without telling her. The dark gold of the cufflinks matched her champagne-gold dress. Thin straps, decolletage showing just enough in a dip between her breasts, soft fabric going straight down the body to her ankles hugging that curve from her waist to wide hips. The upper layer of the fabric was transparent with shiny threads painting vertical lines everywhere, creating an illusion of a trans
WARNING: Sexual Content --------------------------- When she came back, Damien was holding her up by the waist. He reached her hands and unbuckled the restraints. Carrying her to bed, he sat her down on the edge. His tall body went on one knee in front of her and she watched him in a daze carefully take off her shoes, then pull the dress over her arms. She stayed unmoving and longingly watched him unbutton his shirt one by one, her eyes gliding over the skin being slowly exposed. He was made out of hard muscles, and yet sleeping on his chest felt soft and comfortable. Her most restful sleep always came and stayed when her head was cradled on his shoulder. Those same muscles that moved under his skin when he thrust into her. Leaning back on her arms, she let him strip off the shirt then start undoing his belt. When he had buckled it back on, she didn’t know. Soon his naked form stood above her. He stood immobile studying her as she studied him. There w
WARNING: Sexual Content --------------------------- A wanton excitement went through her making her hands and legs tingle and she knelt down as he unbuckled his belt. When his length sprang out of his underwear her mouth salivated but she was hesitant. She raised her eyes to him her face so close to his hardness, lips slightly open. He wanted to memorize the sight but her large green eyes looking up at him made him grab the back of her head fisting her hair hard and pressing the tip to her lips rubbing precum on them. That’s the only lipstick she should ever wear. “I can’t be slow this time. Can you handle it?” his voice was strained, pain on his face. She opened her mouth wide and relaxed her jaw taking him in. He let out a groan and pushed himself deeper into the warm wetness of her beautiful mouth. Hand holding her in place he thrust hard into her throat feeling her nails dig into his thigh. She kept her green eyes up on him, tears glistening in th
WARNING: Sexual Content --------------------------- Without saying a word Damien turned them around and walked to the middle-aged man in a three-piece suit casually leaning against the bar and smiling at them broadly. Despite being raised in the thick of politics and games, this scene was unfamiliar to Ada. She intertwined her arm around his which made him look down at her concern on his face. She gave him a resolute nod and they continued. Spines straight, faces disinterested, steps confident. Everyone was partially aware of their presence, most watched Ada’s shapely legs striding effortlessly on extremely high heels, others watched the casual power in Damien’s shoulders and the way his arm snaked around her waist fingers curling possessively. “Alpha Damien, Alpha Ada, please join me for a drink,” the man said cheerfully. Ada almost raised an eyebrow. It had been hours since she assumed her Alpha position and this man was the first one to acknowledge
“Damien!” she exclaimed. Ada watched as the woman’s smile turned into bowtie lips as if in anticipation of a kiss and face tilted up to Damien as her legs carried her straight to him.Ada yanked her hand from his arm and went straight for her throat, claws extending on their own out of fury that burnt in her veins instantly. Before she could feel the satisfaction of feeling the woman’s pulse under her fingertips, Damien’s hand grabbed that whore’s arm and yanked her back out of Ada’s reach. Her eyes turned to his with a question, almost a sad betrayal in them. She was surprised by her own reaction. The wise thing would be to just observe Damien’s actions.Just then the strange woman giggled pulling her arm out of Damien’s grasp and danced away. He looked irritated but calm as if something like that was anticipated.“Ada, meet Kara, Alpha of Crescent clan,” he said. Then gesturing to the man in the
Damien threw distrustful glances at Ada’s woolen forest green coat again. They were in his car on the way to meeting the other Alphas. The coat covered her from shoulders to calves only showing nude high-heeled shoes with metal pyramid spikes on the crisscrossed straps. She had come out of the bedroom wearing the coat not letting him see what she wore underneath.“Uncle Aram thinks we should wait with marking each other,” she said looking straight ahead. He didn’t answer. His dark aura swirled in the car even though she could tell he was trying to reign it in.“Is it what you want?” he asked his voice cold, eyes on the night streets illuminated by city lights.“He has a point. First, it gives me time to establish myself as Alpha for my wolves. Second, we need to prepare other clans to the idea of us uniting. They will think we are merging our clans.”“We are not merging the clans,” he said
A little over an hour later Damien was sitting in the living room watching Ada braid her hair looking out onto the city. She was wearing a simple light grey turtleneck, cream corduroy pants, and brown combat boots. Every curve was hugged perfectly making him dislike the outfit unable to pull his eyes off the arc that turned her waist into hips. His fingers still tingled with the softness of her skin in that spot. He had been forbidden to touch her after she had showered claiming she didn’t want any more of his smell on her for the assembly with her clan. He wanted to seal his smell into her every pore permanently. So many eyes would be watching her that day, conjuring images in their minds, picturing her tonight alone in their empty beds. She walked away from the window after her delicate fingers finished the thick brown braid, and pulled on the dark brown aviator jacket. Her eyes met his and he could sense her tension anticipating the meeting. Ada watched hi
WARNING: Sexual Content --------------------------- Damien watched her sleeping form in the light of dawn. He had been too impatient the night before, they hadn’t even undressed. She had been so spent after that one time. Her pretty head had fallen on his shoulder and her eyes had closed almost instantly. He had to fight his own need after taking her dress, bra and leftovers of her underwear off for the night. She never liked sleeping in a bra. He had stopped himself from looking at her. Her perfect scent had cocooned him and he had fallen asleep face buried in her hair ignoring his erection pressing at her ass. Now in the morning light she looked lovely, sleeping on her back one leg bent at the knee, one hand by her face palm up, the other lying by her side. She had kicked the covers off at night and the comforter only covered the foot of the extended leg. Propping himself up on one hand facing her, his eyes slowly slid over her entire body. She was
WARNING: Sexual Content --------------------------- “It helped, travelling. I stayed among humans mostly and met a few that left their mark on my personality. Morocco is a beautiful place; Venice was as romantic and peaceful as I imagined.” She laughed before continuing, “I got caught in the rain in Venice going back from a castle-museum to my hotel room and ran into the nearest what I thought to be a coffee shop. Turned out to be a wine shop. The owner paired wines and cheeses for me for hours and in the end pulled out some large bottle with no labels on it, poured a shot glass and pushed towards me. They all watched amused as I did the shot on top of all the wine in my stomach. I don’t think he knew I was a werewolf, but he knew I was not human. When his wife yelled at him about getting me drunk, he looked at me and said I could take care of myself but my soul needed that evening with them. He was right.” She was smiling a sincere smile and her arms had sta
