Xavier's POV

I closed my eyes as I reminisce our first meeting.

Before I saw her, I knew she was my mate. I had already lost hopes of meeting her. The elders had given me two months to either find my mate or they will pick a queen for me.

I was filled with her scent even before she stepped into the room. Surely, Killian wanted to claim her immediately but something was off. As she drew nearer, her scent increased. When she stepped into the room, I couldn't say if I was shocked or disappointed because I wasn't sure what I was expecting but it was surely not what was before me. I watched as she cowered in fear. Her heart beating as if it was on a marathon.
