She kept walking deep into the woods as perspiration had already dampened her skin, her silky dress was now making her feel sticky and cold.
Her face was painted with worry and the lines on her forehead became more obvious. She didn't care if she walked into the deepest forest and probably got eaten up by a wolf or some wild animals. All she could think of was how to save her.
She wasn't just going to give up so easily so mumbled and prayed to find her safe and unscathed. Millions of thoughts streamed into her head; what if she finds her cold body on the ground and probably with blood stained all over her? what if a lion or a snake or a…oh no!
"This can't possibly happen. Sam, you have got to keep going."
Those words one tells to herself by herself are indeed more powerful than any words. She became strong again.
She forged ahead without looking behind her while everything around her now seemed gloomy. She didn't know the exact direction she should follow as there were numerous routes to take in the forest.
The tall trees formed tall skyscrapers and canopies overhead not allowing the sun rays to lighten that part of the forest. Birds were chirping-croa…croa and more leaves kissed her face unexpectedly. Perhaps, she was too focused to flinch. Her long black hair magneted twigs to itself as she tirelessly yanked saplings aside. She wished that she had never asked for freedom. Staying locked up was at least better than being lost in the forest. She has never gone too deep into the forest before.
Her mum had earlier warned her and her little sister-candy about how dangerous the forest could be so the least they thought of doing was roaming the thicket without knowing that the end of the thicket marked the beginning of the forest. How was she certain that candy would go too deep, to the extent of endangering her life. Yes! the forest was attractive and always inviting but it was 'dangerous' like her mum had pointed.
It's indeed dangerous for a little girl like candy to wander alone in the forest.
Candy was just twelve years old, her face was nothing like round but oval shaped with her pair of green eyes and not so pointed nose fitted in well with her full lip. If she could only see any blonde hair in a ponytail hairstyle, that's candy.
Suddenly, Her foot stumbled upon a thick black object as the adrenaline in her body rushed into her throat.
"Fu*k!" She swallowed when she realized what lay before her.
"Oh no! Candy!" Her heart accelerated and her eyes narrowed at different angles of the forest.
She lifted the object and her eyes widened in bewilderment. This couldn't be! The thick black object was exactly the same as candy's jacket and it lay on the ground. Could it be…Oh no! She had to find candy before she got hurt.
Even if deep down she feared that herself might as well get into trouble because she had no weapons and had no fighting skills even if she saw any to hold onto. Her heart throbbed in pain at the thought that something bad had happened to candy.
What will she tell her mum? Will her mum ever trust her again? A feeling of guilt filled her heart for not being there when her little sister was in trouble.
She forcefully shoved away more saplings that obstructed her view until she saw the sun rays peeking into the forest through the sky. A soothing breeze blew across her face as she gaped, mouth dropped.
She just stood transfixed in the spot, surprised that somewhere like this existed in the world. She fell into fantasy forgetting where she was. She had always dreamed of seeing the beautiful endowments of nature and this was it.
Even Adam's Eden can't be compared to such a magnificent place she has just seen. There were no trees to form skyscrapers but rather filled with flowers. One could mistake it for a flower field.
Different kinds of flowers flourished stratifically inviting many butterflies to perch on it.
The sweet smell of blossomed flowers hypnotized her for some minutes causing a light of hope to settle across her face.
"Sam." A soft voice jolted her back to life. The next moment, a young girl jumped into her embrace.
"Candy!" She wrapped her arms around her even without seeing her yet.
"Sam, I am so sorry I put you through all this." The same voice, soft and tender echoed in the forest.
The two were now staring into each other's face though candy had to look up to Sam while she spoke.
"I'm glad I finally found you, dear." She said amidst tears. Tears of joy of course. The happiness. No! Joy and happiness radiated from Sam's face.
She finally heard this sweet voice again. What would be her fate if she didn't find her. 'Oh no! Don't even go there', she thought and smiled while cupping candy's face with her palm. The smile on candy's face that moment was so obvious like she wanted to spend more time in the forest. Sam had lots of questions running through her head at that point but they had to hurry back home before dusk would catch up with them.
They were about to start a conversation when a figure appeared behind them. Sam's mouth dropped. She was going to run away with candy but the latter got her even more astonished. They should be running from that figure before them.
Yes! She was going to run away with her but candy remained in the same spot without moving. She wanted to yell on top of her voice and scream as well so that they would run with all their energy but she got a smile from candy instead. She still couldn't fathom why candy was smiling at her while she should be on the run. She couldn't look at the figure anymore as goosebumps had engrossed her.
She squeezed her eyes closed while her heart accelerated simultaneously. "Lord please save us now from this monster." she mumbled. Candy read her lips and figured out what she was saying.
"He's not a monster, Sam." Candy said in her calmest tone. She focused her gaze on Sam's face as if waiting for her to digest everything immediately.
"How would you know if he was? He is extraordinary." Sam sluggishly and reluctantly blinked her eyes as her thick black lashes fluttered simultaneously.
"He saved my life." Candy replied.
OMG!
What in heaven's name has she seen today? She was having mixed feelings of fear, bewilderment and insecurity yet candy feels secured around this monster…no! Human? Extraordinary human. She has never seen such a human in her lifetime. He was so charming and cute.
"He's just like us, Sam?" Candy explained and watched Sam shift her gaze towards the figure who now raised his brows nonchalantly and gave a winsome smile.
"He is Edward." Candy said as if she knew Edward too well.
"Edward…" Sam repeated and her lips curved into a smirk.
She admired his curly black long hair which danced gloriously on his fine toned collar bone. He wore a dark green shirt-unbuttoned, exposing his muscular chiseled abs on top of an oxblood trouser.
He noticed the way she stared at him, too much like she wanted to eat him whole.
A deafening silence reigned in the atmosphere and it was only what seemed like the chirping of birds that broke it.
Edward hasn't spoken since Sam found them. She was just surprised. He wanted to speak but he couldn't open his mouth. He was still surprised by this beautiful lady's attitude. Not so surprised though because candy's reaction on seeing him was more dumbfounding. That moment she called him a monster flashed into his memory again and he just waved it off. It seemed like they had spent the full day standing in that spot as the sky began to turn gray.
"Th…a..nk you for u...mmh saving candy's life." Sam stuttered and slowly twirled the tip of her blouse.
"I will take you two to your home. This place is not safe for you." He replied and breathed in hard.
As if he was trying so hard to keep the demon inside of him tamed. No one uttered a single word until they arrived at the center of Western Hosbon. The area had quite a number of houses owned by humans as there are only a few humans left because some blood suckers have killed half of the humans and more might still come in the future.
They stopped at a house that was made of wood. Its windows were framed with glass and the stairs were covered with carpet-wine red color. What captivated him more was the pool near the medium-size garden emanating a cool and fresh breeze into the atmosphere. Candy gave him a tight hug before they climbed the stairs and entered the house while Edward left. Candy just sat on the sofa like a worried hen while Sam hurried to the window to peep through it but she was late not to have seen him leaving. She longed to hear candy narrate everything to her.
EARLIER THAT DAY,Sam was reading a book while candy was making kites with some of the old papers on the cupboard. The cupboard was adjacent to the dining table and there were two picture frames covered with dust which seem to have remained the same way for many years. A cracked flower vase was posed on the wooden center table, opposite it was a twin dazzling fireplace keeping the house warm. Their mum, Mrs Jain was making breakfast in the kitchen so the whole house was filled with the aroma of a scrumptious delicacy. Their mum sells meat in the blood suckers market and it was the only thing they survived by.She takes the risk everyday going to sell at the market owned by the blood suckers. Blood suckers was the name humans call the vampires. She has never sold in the human market because most humans couldn't afford the price tag of meat. Even those middle-class humans who could afford it were afraid of buying it because the blood suckers said meat was their own food. They didn't wa
As Sam looked up from the water, she could only see candy's ponytail hair dancing in the air and her black woolen jacket.'This girl must be catching a lot of fun over there' she thought and slipped back into the water. Candy continued walking through the cleared path of the thicket. The chirpings of birds shifted her attention from the butterfly. She narrowed her gaze and sighed when she saw nothing. She looked up again but the butterfly was gone. She cursed under her breath. "I must get you this time." She muttered, the butterfly was now clinging to a leaf just a mile away. She cursed under her breath again. It seemed like her closeness alerted the butterfly to fly away for safety. She didn't realize how far she had walked until a powerful and distinctive aura filled the atmosphere. The place was dim and quiet, different from the thicket she arrived from. She looked up to see the sky but tall trees formed canopies overhead. She became scared and her eyes kept narrowing that she
As the vampiress returned from her hunt, she didn't see her mate or the prey. She looked around in an attempt to catch traces of footprints but saw nothing. Her heart darkened as she began to perceive danger in the air.She could see past events so she saw when her mate was burning into ashes."No!" Her eyes turned red as she screamed. She found his ashes, heaped somewhere close to a tree and she leaped over. She stood before the ashes for a while before she dropped herself to the ground, taking a handful of ash she began to sob. Her eyes deepened into redness until her fangs elongated, longer than before. She continued crying till dusk fell. Her clothes became dampened with blood and sweat. It was too hard to believe that her mate was gone. After some minutes in the darkness, she collected some ash with her shirt and leaped away. She could see clearly in the dark, leaping from tree to tree without stopping to catch a breath. She had to go before her enemy could see her. She got to a
Edward furiously pushed away saplings out of his way as he raced through the forest. He tried to collect some sound waves and by putting the strings together, he was able to hear the direction of the sound. At that moment, he began to recall the good times he had shared with Alpha Marcus. A lot of good memories kept streaming into his head causing him to increase his pace.He had to save his brother as he might never be able to forgive himself if his brother eventually got killed by his enemies. He was still some miters away yet it seemed as if it was taking centuries to get there. The howling was decreasing and he just knew what it meant. Probably, Marcus must have given up.Suddenly, he halted at a spot and narrowed his gaze to and fro. The place appeared deserted and hidden from other parts of the forest. It looked empty with no trees to form canopies overhead nor was the sun out to melt the frozen snow that settled everywhere. No wonder it was a bit difficult for him to easily lo
Sam firmly knotted the facemask over Candy's head. She had to tie it well because she recalled how Candy tricked her while they played 'hide and seek' in the house. Candy would trickly extend the mask away from one of her eyes so she could easily find Sam. Yet again, she suspected her just as she caught hold of Edward. Now it was his turn.Candy chuckled as she watched Sam tie the mask over his face as well. The way she carefully, yet slowly shifted his long-minted, thick black hair aside so that she could find the ropes. She wanted to take more of her time to adore his hair using her hand to intertwine it to a curl. The fragrance and the thickness of his hair was like…Truly, his hair was sweet to her. "Ahh…" He hissed as she used her finger to poke through his hair."Am sorry. It's a bit difficult to knot, she lied and began to do it quickly, Does it hurt?" She quickly added. "A Little." He answered with a mumble that even Candy didn't hear. She supported him by standing in the
The Grand Elders of the Volturi gathered again in their meeting room. A room that exuded a powerful and devilish aura. Though it came from the Grand Elders themselves. Grand Elders doesn't mean they were too old and had walking sticks to support their movement. They had lived for many Centuries but still, they looked young and agile except their head and Layla who were the youngest. The ten of them sat on each right and left wing of the chairs as if waiting for someone more superior while the Drudge Vampires refilled each cup, every now and then. It was as if the animal's blood tasted better to them.Layla's eyes shoned with anticipation as she stared at the curtains for signs. The way it hung delicately from the frame as if dancing from a touch of breeze. She had always liked him even when he kept a distance from her.Suddenly, her smiles appeared as he appeared from the curtain, bringing a welcome pop of aura in the room. The curtain was a creamy brown, the type that glowed golden
Back at the Jules Pack Werewolves castle, everything else happened slowly as everyone hoped for Alpha Marcus to wake up. The third time that the Seer came to the fourth floor, he left no good impression. When he finished applying the antidote on Alpha Marcus, his face turned gloomy as if he forgot to add a particular ingredient to his antidote. Probably, the special ingredient that could wake him up.He was the only powerful Seer that the Werewolves had. One intriguing thing about this man was his physique. His head was was covered with thick fur throughout, a pair of mono brows and blue eyes. His fangs, on his upper and lower jaw permanently poked out of his mouth and his ears too propped out in the air. The fur ended around his neck making him appear like a human from his shoulder to his feet. The stories that accompanied his birth was so pathetic as his parents abandoned him with the feeling that he was cursed.Everyone 's gaze grew intense as they waited to hear what he had to sa
He increased his pace, breathlessly and his eyes changed to golden. He thought of nothing else but Alpha Marcus. The fact that he was going to die made to hit the trees more and when his body reached its limit, he transformed into a Wolf. He became more vigorous, using his whole body to smash and uproot the trees. If he had to do this for days or weeks just so that the guilt and pain that wallowed in his heart could go, he would. He blamed himself for not saving him from those blood suckers. When he became drenched and dampened with sweats, his body longing to do more but his heart was saying 'no' to him. The forest was scattered as many uprooted trees was here and broken thick branches were there. The soil also distributed to some areas in heaps. He lowered himself down to the ground and narrowed his eyes around to see how disorganized the forest had become.********************As sunlight peered through the curtains, the room was shimmering in brightness and the scents of fried,
Edward returned back to Jule's pack with his Mom. She happened to be amongst Jasper's Drudge Vampires. Edward was extremely happy to finally set his eyes on his Mom.When he was crowned the Chosen Alpha of Jule's pack, his Mom was seated by his side. She got banished by his father back then but he won't let such a thing happen to her again. He now has the laws into his hands.Alpha Marcus was greedy for the Alpha's title so he decided to manipulate everyone to go against Edward and his Mom. He used cocooned Alice to begin his adventure but his evil plans backfired. He died alongside poor Alice. When the news got to Luciana about what happened to her children, she went into a coma and passed away afterwards. What pained Edward most was the death of poor Alice but on a second thought, he felt it was better for her to rest from all the suffering she had been passing through.Back at the Maklaiv Coven, Sam and Ray where seated on the cripsy sand of the beach, watching the water as it roll
Jasper was shocked and happy at the same time on seeing that it was Lord Ray. It would be much easier now for him to kill Ray.Without uttering any more words to each other, their swords collided with each other's. Noises from the clapping of their swords filled the air, making Sam turn back and watch them.Despite all his study with the soulshifting books, Lord Ray still overshadowed him with all his moves. He was as fast as flash as he dodged all strikes made by Jasper but the latter wouldn't relent. He jumped into the air and lifted his sword, his two hands tightly gripped the handle. He was about to thrust it into Lord Ray's ribs but Lord Ray used his own sword and defended it. The force he used in striking Jasper's sword made the sword drop to the floor. He was left with nothing to defend himself any longer. At that moment, Lord Ray became fully in charge. The only thing that was left for Jasper to do was to say his last prayer because he was definitely going to be killed.Sudden
On the D-Day, all the vampires assembled at southern Hosbon, waiting for the werewolf hunters to join them. After some minutes, Edward marched out with his most trained Werewolf Hunters and joined the vampires. He had to take the lead alongside Ray and Sam since he was the only one that knew the location of the Cave.It took them days before they finally arrived at a spot. The thick haze was hovering all over the place but they still managed to see the Cave. The sight of the Cave made everyone very furious. For the fact that their enemy has been hiding there for years and they have been fools all this while not to have found out about this cave. At that moment, the only thing that Sam thought of was her Mom. She knew that it wasn't going to be easy to find her since Edward said Jasper placed all his Drudge Vampires under a spell but she wouldn't give up in searching for her.Edward asked them to wait at that spot for him while he went to find a way that could lead them inside the Cav
She kept on riding him slowly with her waist and he just couldn't hold himself any longer. His hands and legs were still tied to the bed but he didn't mind. He began to move his waist up and down in order to meet up with his desire. At this junction, Sam was moaning and calling his name. She was no longer in control because the pleasure was too much for her body. Just as he was about to take her with him to the moon, he increased his pace. He then noticed the sudden change in her eyes and before he gave her the last thrust, she yanked her fangs into his neck. The following morning, Lord Ray woke up and narrowed his eyes as he didn't see her. The picture of what happened the previous night appeared in his head, making him smile within him. Before anything else, he rushed into the bathroom and had a shower. He bumped into the food that was served for him on the table and this got him even more scared. He teleported himself out of the room in search of her. He walked over to Jereni's roo
After forty-eight hours, there wasn't any more hope left for everyone. There wasn't any sign to show that Sam would ever wake up.Ray was devastated and sad. He couldn't even look at the baby's face. He didn't know whether to blame the Cadicarat or the baby since they were both the cause of all the pains he was passing through at that point. Suddenly, he stood up from where he was sitting and focused his gaze at the window. Sunrays shimmered in through the window and casted the shadow of the iron window on the wall.Seeing the sun, only one thing dropped into his heart. At that moment, all that he desired was to kill himself by burning his body in the sun. Nobody noticed him as he slowly began to walk towards the door that led to the sit out.As he walked, images of Sam drifted into his head. He didn't realize that his eyes had already teared up and the tears were threatening to stroll down from his eyes. All that he wished was to stand in the sit out and get burnt by the sun.As he a
The Grand Elders of the Volturi didn't take Lord Ray's condition too seriously. They all felt that he would get better since he was the Lord and also the most powerful amongst them. Rufus was shocked to see him the following day. He was dying and just like Sam, he was turning pale while his eyes were dilating with weakness."What should we do, my Lord?" Rufus asked, waving his head in pity. In his entire lifetime, he has never seen Lord Ray in such a condition even to the extent of not being able to speak to anyone. After some minutes, the Mouthpiece visited Lord Ray's Mansion. It was there and then he narrated the source of his sudden illness to them all. They all cried bitterly after they heard him say the right time had come for him to die."The Cadicarat…" flowed out from everyone's lips almost at the same time. "My Lord, why did you have to fall for a human when you could have any woman of your choice in this Coven? Oh! No." Rufus mumbled within himself.Suddenly, Lord Ray raise
"My Lord, I am sorry to tell you that she might not survive after giving birth." The doctor said as he bowed his head for Lord Ray."What do you mean by that? She is just like every other woman. Why can't she survive after her delivery?" Lord Ray asked with pain in his tone but the doctor was just quiet. Actually, it wasn't his fault and was going to put all his best just to make sure that she survived it. After all, he was noted as the best doctor in the entire Coven. He wouldn't let her die for the sake of Lord Ray because he knew the repercussions. They were still talking when they heard a scream coming from Sam's room. In fact, it was her voice that they all heard. Everyone scurried into the room almost at the same time.Sam was in serious pain. The way she toasted herself from one side of the bed to the other side showed it."Ray, what should I do? I can't feel myself anymore." She said with a cracked voice as tears trickled down from her eyes.Ray was speechless and confused as
After some minutes, an ambulance drove into the premises. Two young men wearing the same uniform; oxblood coverall rushed towards Aunty Suzi, carrying a stretcher. They placed Sam on it after checking her vitals."Sir, she is unconscious. Her B.p is 140 over 100. Her pulse is 72 and there is a rise in her temperature." One of the young men said to the man that climbed out of the car. From his look, he seemed like the doctor even though he wasn't putting on the Lab coat."You need to sign these papers before we take her with us. You don't have to panic. The issue is not a very tough one. Her b.p is high and we need to boost it with an infusion." The man said, handing over the papers to Aunty Suzi. After signing them, she handed it back to him and they were about to push her into the ambulance."Excuse me, Doctor." Everyone turned as they heard the voice, even the doctor turned as well. The voice emanated a different aura, fear mixed with dreadfulness."I don't want her to be admitted t
After waiting for him for so long, Sam urged Jereni to quickly drive her to Western Hosbon. She would definitely be in big trouble if Aunty Suzi's driver arrived before her.On their way, Sam started up a conversation. She was eager to know why Lord Ray's meeting was taking so long to end. He promised to drive her to Western Hosbon but it happened to be Jereni doing it right now."The Alpha of Jule's pack came to pay a visit to the Vampires. He caused a big scene." Jereni said, casting a glance on the side view mirror before she maneuvered the steering to the left lane of the tarred road."Is he that bad?" Sam asked, raising her brows. The picture of Edward dropped into her head. She knew he was a wolf but he never caused any scene whenever she was around him."Yes. He is the Vampire's mortal enemy." Jereni said, nodding simultaneously. She suddenly became comfortable with Sam, to the extent of sharing this kind of information with her. Sam didn't seem surprised by her words because s
