Isabella

"Wow..."

The numbers written on the page made my vision blur a bit. It was unreal. Even when I worked in the bar, or in the café, I had never gotten so much in this amount. And here I was, getting that much money all at once. I looked up to Damian. The thought that this was preferential treatment worried me.

"Is this alright?" I asked, looking back to the paper.

"It's the same amount I've paid every single teacher working here." He said.

I looked back down at the large sum. "I… thank you," I sputtered out

The last time, it took me several months of work to pay rent for the shady apartment I lived in. With only this amount, I could have paid several months rent in advance. But that wasn't what I, nor Treasure needed. No. He needed a secured home. I would add it to my other savings, the checks Anne gave me stored away, and now this. Perhaps when I got back, I would add in all the amounts.

"You can cash it in or out it into your bank account," Damian said, making me raise my h

Isabella. It started out how it usually did, with hesitation and silence. I moved forward towards the living room, plonking down onto the couch in a half seated, half lying down manner. "Hi." I said, sitting down on one of the seats. He replied with a nod. "Sierra's not back yet, if that's who you were waiting for." He said, flipping another page. I nodded, and sat upright. We were more of far apart acquaintances. His words back then seemed to have broken the ice, but that didn't mean that we were friends. It was a progress compared to before where most of our interactions were tense. After a bout of hesitation I took out my phone. Opening the sudoku game. It was the same one Sierra played and had given to me. "I know this isn't any of my business but..." His dark voice courted hesitation. "...what were you going to ask her?' There was no harm in telling him a thing. "I was going to ask Sierra about opening a bank account," I said. "You don't have

Isabella The house was an empty space, living room bare of the usual couches and furniture aside from the curtains. The sun was out, against the shade. But where was everyone? This time, I held Treasure in my arms as I walked. A growl stopped me in my tracks. I held still, the ever present memory of what was to happen next. It was the wolf. The shadow. Red eyes gleamed towards me, threateningly. It took a step closer, followed by another, but when I was about to step into the light… I woke up. It had been like that for days. What had started out as a nightmare in what seemed to be a long time ago had become a recurrent set of dreams which always stopped at some point. They began to occur more frequently than before, leaving me trapped in a vertigo of questions. Why was I having this dream? Why were the dreams plaguing me more than ever? A shriek from Treasure brought me out of my thoughts. Alarm bells began ringing in my head. I turned towar

Isabella. We spent the rest of the day talking while they watched Treasure play with his toys. Claire talked about her relationship with Lola, which although had quieted, had become stronger. Seeing her so happy brought a surge of joy within me. After all, she was the first person to show me kindness. Whilst I was struggling during work in the bar, bearing the pain of separating from my pack and the illness that came with pregnancy, she came to my rescue. Even though she was a struggling college student of her own, she went to great lengths to help me. Whether it was through getting drugs when I couldn't afford them, aiding me with my shifts and being the most supportive person, she was my closest pillar. I was glad that she was finding happiness in her life. Deep in the recesses of my mind, I prayed her happiness was to continue. We spoke until Claire reluctantly left, saying that she had a shift. She bid us goodbye, entering the car which Felix was going to drive her h

LeoIt felt like I was missing something somehow. It was that feeling that drove me to work extra hard today, as though racing towards, or from something. The thought remained niggling in my mind even as I drove home. Something was coming, or was on its way, yet I couldn't understand what.As I came into the house, I was greeted by Sierra with a slight hug."You're back." She said, giving me a slight warmth. It was rare at times for her to show her affection. I welcomed her hug, pulling her closer."And here I thought you were going to shack yourself in the office all day." She said, quirking up her eyebrow smugly.I shot her back with an equally smartass comment. Separating from Sierra, I looked forward to see… her. She was okay. The cream dress she wore complimented her skin and white hair well. Yet, there was a flash of uneasiness in her expression. Why did I get the feeling that something was bothering her?"Good day," I said, giving a slight nod in her direction. She didn't spea

Isabella In the morning, after feeding Treasure, it took no time for me to dress up. This time in a pair of sweatpants and a lilac shirt. Since it involved fighting, perhaps I could join. Sierra met me downstairs where she nodded at my dressing. We had sparred once in a while in the few days I had. But this was going to be my second time watching others fight in a long time. The sun somehow burned hot against our skins as we moved forward. The closer we got, the more noises and roars could be heard. We neared a place that I had only seen in passing, a sandy area distinct from the rest of the grassy routes of the pack. I had brushed it off before. How could I have known it was actually the training grounds? The place which was empty in my memories was completely different. Men and women of all ages were present. Some were seated, while others stood, playing around. From the distance, I could see some smaller children playing around, likely being watched by the person wh

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   The truth about Leo.

IsabellaIt was the same dream, yet so different. I didn't need to move. The moment I was present, I was standing there, in the center of the large living room. There was no furniture, and the dim natural light was the only thing. The wolf was on the other side. This time, it didn't give chase. It didn't move forward, and neither did it growl. If not for its large shadowy gaze and bright red eyes, its presence was as silent as a ghost. For the first time, the dream felt different. It was calm. It was still. And I was at a loss of what to do. The seconds or whatever time it was, felt like hours, yet none of us moved. We were at a stalemate, and the unknowns were vast. This time I felt my strength come back. I could have moved, but what was I supposed to do? Without thinking, I took a step forward. And everything changed completely. The world had turned pitch black. I was unable to see anything nor anyone. The fear filled my lungs. I could still move, yet I didn

Isabella. The words reached my ears, yet difficult to process. That was… that was impossible. There was no way anyone could not control their wolves. When a werewolf is born, they connect with their wolves at the same moment, in a bond tethered by the moon goddess "Isabella? I looked at Sierra's blue eyes, as clear as water. "I..." I blinked again and again. "I don't understand, Sierra." Was it me, or had Sierra deflated a little? Immediately I put my hands over hers. "I'm not saying that you're lying. I… I just need to understand." I stressed. Every part of me was in denial. There was never a case like that. But it was evidently the truth that Sierra believed. I had demanded for answers and she was giving me. I had to listen, no matter my problems. Sierra nodded before she spoke, eyes focused on the table. "Ever since I was born, I wasn't allowed to play with him. It was weird back then, why I had to go with my mother to shift and play, while L

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   The full moon day.

Isabella. The day broke, but it didn't matter. I was unable to sleep either way. The whole night had been less than a dreamless sleep, rather one filled with conflict and upset. Halfway through, Treasure had woken up whimpering, and for the first time I welcomed the distraction. It was not only about his wolf, but also him. Over the past weeks, he was quiet, but comforting. He was a constant reading companion, and had helped me. We had started off from a rocky start, but now we were on neutral ground. So where did learning this put me? I had initially let go, but it hadn't meant I forgave him. Was I going to forgive him? Especially for an action he had no control over? Would all the pain I had faced wash away so easily. I recalled the slight glisten in his eyes before he stepped away from me the day before, apologising. I recalled the day he apologized after that accusation. I remembered his silent words the day after I faced those discriminatory teachers, exhaust

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Epilogue.

Isabella.Treasure played freely amongst other children. The happiness in his eyes made me smile from the window I watched him in.He had taken to them very well, free to reveal his claws at any time, compared to before. After what felt like minutes of watching, I settled back down onto the couch, filled with stacked books I was hoing to remove for the day.I settled into the dark couch where even before I left, it gave comfort. Now I needed that more than ever.It felt like before, yet everything was so different. Now Sierra came occasionally, no longer a resident of the pack yet still belonging to it. She had all the grace of a Luna. It was something I had known for a long time, yet pleased to see nonetheless - nevermind that I still beat her whenever it came to sparring. The biggest difference, however, was me.I had once come here as a guest, hiding myself away from the pack and not wanting to get attached. Now I was here as Leo's mate and the first and new Luna of the rogue pack.

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Let’s go home.

Leo.I looked at Isabella who bore a stricken look. The disbelief in her was the same one I faced. This was the first time I had physically seen the person right in front of me, and as I looked at him, an open scar on his face with his hair in disarray and his eyes crazed, I knew what my answer would be.Turning to Isabella, I conveyed all I needed to, squeezing her hand lightly. She seemed to understand as she nodded. I let her go, walking toward the man who looked more pathetic as his hopeful eyes looked up at me.“I have no need to fight you, Darius, because there's nothing to fight with you about."I saw his expression morph into a frown and anger light up in his eyes in response, but I wasn't done.“Isabella is not a bargaining chip, nor an object to fight over or own. I doubt that you will understand that as you are now, but it's the truth. Scum like you deserve a terrible fate, and though I'm glad that Isabella is by my side now, I wished she didn't have to face someone like yo

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   The challenge.

Isabella.A chill went through me at the news. Looking at the rest of them filled with shock and plenty of questions, there was nothing we could do but wonder. How did they figure it out already? Was this part of their plan from the start? I saw a mix of emotions, none of them positive on everyone's face. It was only a light squeeze that made me turn to him.Leo's startlingly blue eyes couldn't cool down my tension, but it eased it a bit.And for a moment, knowing everything else, I only let one thought reverberate through my mind.Everything will be alright.…..Throughout the next few days, we had mobilized everybody possible. They had announced to the pack and the council of elders everything that had taken place, never leaving a single detail out. The pack was in an uproar, yet in a discussion of our allies, they felt mixed emotions.I looked around at the people around me. People who had once judged me in favor of the person who was now the biggest threat to the pack. When I sp

Isabella.Together we left for the Alpha's quarters, only to see my parents.Surprise filled me as they also stood up.“What are you two doing here?” My mother demanded, eyeing both of us.“Please," Isabella pleaded.I stayed as she explained every word that she heard in the forest, and I could see every single one of their faces turned grave.“Isabella, are you sure that that was everything you heard?"I wanted to nod, but held back. There was still one thing I was holding back.“When they spoke, Lucy said that he needed her. Not just because of the rogues, but…”I knew that this was sure to hurt, no matter how much I steeled myself to say it was Leo's light squeeze that made me shut my eyes and finally let go.“Because she knew the truth behind his father's death."A shattering sound.“Melissa!”I whipped my head in surprise as I saw that Darius's mother was suddenly laying on the floor unconscious. The implications of my words were clear to everyone.I could only keep still, watch

Leo.The moment she had frozen, I already sensed something was wrong. Two people, whom from the look on her face, she recognized were speaking.Closing my eyes, I heightened my senses to hear what they were saying. The first voice was a rough one that undoubtedly belonged to a man whilst the other was a woman.“You said that it'll work, but they haven't made any moves since.” Said the male one.“I mobilized all these rogues and I promised them domination. Do you think that it was easy?”Rogues? The mention of them.“Or better yet, do you think calming them down was? After they'd lost two people to your damned pack, you should be lucky that they haven't turned on you."“Shut the hell up.” The male voice spat out.“You can't get rid of me. Not when I'm the only one who knows the real secret behind your father's death. Not while you need me to appease the rogues while you mess up and no nothing. Not while I look like your dear–” The woman spat out.“–Shut up!” The words were so loud I wa

Isabella. The next morning was far from normal. The only way it could have been described was cold.Neither of my parents were speaking to me, not even as I prepared breakfast earlier in the morning as an appeasement. They avoided my gaze as much as they could, never speaking a word.It hurt, the silent waves of disappointment that ebbed out of them. I braced through it however.Even little Treasure had noticed it.“Where's daddy?” He whispered to me. I noticed that my parents had stopped eating, either hearing or rightly assuming Treasure words.I attempted to smile at him. “He's not here, but we can visit him if you'd like,” I spoke invitingly. Before Treasure could say a word, I heard my mother's voice for the first time that morning.“Treasure dear, why don't you follow us to the pack gardens? There are plenty of beautiful animals there.”I stiffened at her passive aggressive nature. Yet when I looked at Treasure's imploring eyes which silently asked me for what to do, I gave a sl

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Welcome to the pack.

Leo.The pain Isabella bore on her face made me want to hold her, yet those doubts and fears I thought I had rid myself of stopped me short, leaving me helpless and hollow. The night was silent and cold. Peaceful. It was a complete contrast to the violence that had occurred in what should have been less than 20 minutes ago.The pain from the hands that choked me still ached every time I swallowed, yet I kept silent.I almost flinched when I felt the brush of a hand, only to relax as there was only one person who could do that. I let her wrap her hand around mine, sighing at the guilty pleasure of her touch. When I turned to look at her again, all the warmth I gained drained away. Her eyes glistened with tears even as she stared stonily at the distance. She was devastated. From her parents' reaction to the way it all came crashing down.I vaguely realized that she was trying to do that. Comfort me. In turn, I held her closer, hoping that she gained a bit of warmth as well. When Connor

Goodnight.” He turned to Leo and oblivious to the tension in the air, told Leo. “Goodnight, daddy.” I heard the slight suck of breath from one of my parents, but I focused solely on my son, nudging him forward.“Go on then," I said, as he yawned before moving up the stairs.I watched him carefully until I was sure that he was out of sight and earshot. The sound of his guest room door shutting made me let out a breath of relief.I shouldn't have let my guard down.It happened instantly. One minute, we were all sitting on the table and in a flash, a person pinned Leo to the wall.“Dad!” I called out, panic filling me as I stood up, speeding across the room.My father was on his full feet, his hands wrapped around Leo's neck. Goddess! He was choking him!Leo remained still. Whether he was still in shock
