Chapter Forty-Nine

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Ryan yelled at Travis as he pulled the phone line from the socket, disconnecting the call.

“Just wait and think about this for a minute,” Travis said. “Start from the top, everything that happened.”

“We’re wasting time,” Reid said angrily as he now stood next to Ryan. Their eyes were so dark that they couldn’t be told apart.

“Nurse Fowler called to say that Jane was gone, she really wanted to know if I had brought Jane home, which I hadn’t, because according to the doctor Jane was too weak to walk out on her own. I could feel her fear. I tracked her scent to the Moonstone border and here we are.”

“Jane’s fear, could it be fear that you were looking for her?” Travis directed the question at Ryan.

“No. She’s never been afraid of us, even before we were bonded,” Reid said before Ryan could answer.
