Chapter 4: I WAS REJECTED

TRISTAN’S POV

“You disgust me, Athena!”

Her eyes became teary at the sound of my voice.

I can’t deny the fact that I desired her but for that moment, I didn’t want her anymore.

She hailed from a pack I had so much hatred for.

She can’t even be trusted. For all I know, she might be a spy sne t to infiltrate my pack or worse.

My pack found her wandering in the woods from nowhere, bruised and left to die.

Perhaps she was a cast away or a forbidden one.

I can’t allow my pack see me as a weak Alpha to take her in just like that. Never, I won't allow that!

This is how I can prove myself to them the more.

Even my Luna, Lyra, confirms it. Athena can’t be trusted.

“Yes, I brought her out of the dungeon but that was only because of how I felt,”

She must have charmed me. Perhaps, a hidden trait she possess.

I won’t allow her have her way with me.

Every wolf was present that day with me.

We were all gathered at the Dome as they all longed to hear my public announcement.

I was to pronounce Athena as a mate for I have desired her ever since she came to our abode.

But I didn’t anymore.

I turned to her.

I looked straight into her eyes and just in that spot, I took a deep breath.

“You are not worthy to be my mate,” I said, spat on her face and pushed her to the ground.

“I, TristanCeleste of Celeste Moon Pack reject you this day!” I spoke at the top of my voice.

I can see the look on Lyra’s face as she walked by. She stood beside me and placed her hands around.

That was exactly what I needed.

“Lyra remains my one and only chosen mate,” I repeated.

That was intentional. I noticed Lyra wasn’t much comfortable ever since Athena came into the scene.

She was indeed a beauty to behold. I dare not lie.

I was the same person who ordered for her to be thrown into the dungeon.

I started seeing her differently after a while.

I paid her visits in the dungeon and despite the condition I had put her in, her attractiveness didn’t seem to fade off one bit!

“My love,” a voice from behind interrupted.

It was Lyra. She smiled at me.

I could see the joy in her face. It must be because of the incident earlier.

“What do you intend doing with her?” she asked.

“She won’t even tell you what happened between her and her pack that left her stranded in the woods?

“She should be sent away before she brings us trouble,” Lyra said aloud.

I must have forgotten Lyra knew about how she got here in the place.

“Christian, you are not saying anything?” she repeated.

“She stays, for now,” I answered.

For some reason, I was not ready to let her go.

She holds the solution to my problems.

No one knows that nor even Athena herself.

“Ugh,” I grunt.

Not again. The bleeding has started.

I need to move away from here quickly.

LYRA

“Why is he holding onto her?”

Is there something I don’t know?

That girl is cursed and I won’t allow her take Tristanfrom me.

Ever since he took her, he has been distracted.

He doesn’t even look at me the way he used to.

She must have done something to him.

My inner wolf agrees with me.

I should kill her!

“No, you can’t. That would land us in a lot of trouble with Christian,” My wolf responded.

She has to leave then.

With everything I did to her while in the dungeon, he still wanted to have her as a mate.

There is definitely something about that witch called Athena.

I know exactly what to do with her.

She must suffer!

I know just the right thing to do to her.

I remember Tristan saying she doesn’t look to be in control of her wolf.

That is a weakness I can use against her.

But I can’t be the one to do it. Tristanalready knows how much I detest her.

Ahah!

“I will send someone else to do the job!”

Whilst in that thought, I saw Tristanjust in a corner.

His hands on one side of his belly like he was bleeding.

“Oh not again!! My love! Are you okay?” I said to him as I tried to help him to the room.

He was in a lot of pains. I could tell.

A situation I have been living with ever since we got mated.

Tristansuffered from a plague.

We do not know its source and we had no cure.

Even the Moon goddess messenger, the Shaman is baffled by his condition.

It was a secret we kept from the pack.

They can’t know their Alpha is ill and can die anytime soon.

That would mean trouble and can bring about rebellion.

“We can’t keep doing this,” I said to him.

“You know what we are facing yet you allow some strange girl reside in our quarters!”

“What if she informs our rivals of this? Do you know what that means?”

“I can’t allow that!”

“There is more about her, you don’t know, Lyra. I need her,” he said in a low tone.

What does he mean by that?

I hope he is not reconsidering taking her back.

I kept mute hoping he would say more. Eventually he did.

“I believe she can heal me. This plague of mine.”

“What made you say that?” I asked.

“She possess healing powers. There is a myth about the Raven family and she is one.

“She has that power. I saw the mark on her neck. I can use her, Lyra,” he explained.

(Door creaks)

“Who is there?!
