Chapter 51: Nightmares

"Nooo!" In the midst of her torment, Vanessa jolted awake, drenched in sweat, her heart racing and pounding in her chest. Alexander was there, kneeling beside her on the bed, his face filled with worry. He had been shaking her, calling out her name, and trying to bring her back to reality.

"Vanessa, I'm here," he said urgently, his voice etched with concern. "Wake up, please. It was just a nightmare."

Tears streamed down Vanessa's face as she clung to Alexander, her body trembling. "I didn't sin, Alexander. I didn't betray anybody," she sobbed, her voice filled with anguish. "He's wrong. I'm not a whore."

Alexander held her tightly, his hand providing solace and reassurance. "It's okay, Vanessa. It was just a nightmare," he said under his breath. "You didn't sin, and you didn't betray anyone. I'm right here with you," he said, his voice soothing.
