Chapter 3
"This is not what I ordered!! Take it back immediately!"
I was stuck in my spot, I was very sure this was what she had ordered, I never messed up orders, "but ma'am…" I tried to get her attention but her hard gaze sent me shivering.
"Are you deaf?! I said take it back!" And she threw her water at me, the ruckus caused my boss to run to the rescue.
"Val what is going on?!" He was panting, he was very out of shape.
"I told her that this isn't my order and she is here arguing with me! What happened to customers is always right?!"
"Val, take it back immediately!" He screamed at me and I scurried back into the kitchen. I sniffed back my tears and thought about it a lot, ever since I left, I was treated horribly, even worse by humans.
Soon my boss came in to talk to me, "Never argue with the customers, give them whatever they want. It's almost closing, you should leave and get rest, do not repeat this mistake."
He was right, soon it was 7 pm and I was the first to grab my things and head home. Today was not the best day for me and there was so much on my mind. I remembered I had to get new books for the boys.
I took another path and headed to the store and soon I was out with a white plastic bag. Ever since I left the pack, I had to fend for myself. My pregnancy was the hardest thing I faced but luckily I came out alive.
And I gave birth to triplets. All boys. They've been my life since and now I was going back home to them. I reached the door to my apartment, it was small but enough for a single mother of three.
I took the set of keys from my bag and when I swung open the door, I was greeted with a pile of huge mess and three hyperactive kids jumping on furniture, pretending the floor was lava.
"Markus, Andreius, Duncan!!"
They froze in the air before crashing to the floor, the floor was no longer lava but the house was a big mess and I was disappointed.
"Yes mom!" They answered in unison and scrambled to their feet to form a straight line, their hands behind their back and their gazes to the floor, "good evening mom." They greeted me.
"What is this mess? Care to explain?" I had to keep calm or my blood pressure would shoot up.
"It was Duncan's idea!" The youngest quickly pointed at his elder brother and he had his infamous deadpan expression sprawled out on his face.
"I agree with Andreius, we were deceived." Markus supported calmly.
"Well I don't care who started it, You're all cleaning this mess, now or no dinner." I stomped in and they scurried to clean the whole house, the boys couldn't risk their dinner for anything.
It was chicken Alfredo today and it was their favorite. It was only 20 minutes and the house was not looking like an accident site anymore. They caused chaos together and also fixed it well together.
This was my life, I would come back home to meet a mess and a bunch of cackling 10 year olds. There was never a full moment with them, they were always up to one mischief or the other. And it was a trait they took from their father.
I was busy cooking in the kitchen as I heard them argue as to who started the mess, I found it adorable, they resembled their father too much and they were everything to me but they constantly reminded me of Rohan.
I missed Rohan terribly but I know better than to go back. I would never go back to Rohan, not even if it were to save my life.
Dinner was ready and the boys settled around the table, but before they took their plates, they proceeded to kiss their mother on the cheek.
"So how was your day, boys?".I asked as I poured myself some water. We were not rich but I worked hard enough to make us comfortable.
"School was fun today, we went to the zoo and saw all sorts of animals, my favorite was the wolf." Andreius chirped away, I smiled at him, I had raised them as humans and not wolves, they had no idea that they were werewolves but I could understand their attraction to their own kind.
"And Duncan fought a monkey. And lost." He took a happy slurp of his dinner and Markus was snickering at his older brother while Duncan rolled his eyes.
I found it a bit funny but didn't want to laugh, he has a terrible temper like his father, it was best not to invoke that.
"Oh and mom, I also saw this kid with her dad and mom and they looked so happy." Andreius started, "I…you…I mean…we don't know much about dad, it's just been us but I've been wondering a lot. What happened to dad? Why didn't he stay with us?"
My past flashed in my eyes and soon my calmness was replaced with irritation as I remembered Rohan, it was because of him that I had to suffer so much.
"He doesn't matter, he never loved you and wanted you all dead, so consider him dead. Do not ever ask me about him again!" I lost my temper and my response had caused the atmosphere to dim.
Andreius was too sad to continue eating and started crying, he ran from the dining table and into his room, "Andreius!" I called after him but he didn't listen. Markus runs after him to make sure his little brother was okay, I had done wrong.
I didn't mean to hurt my child but my anger for Rohan had caused me to lash out at Andreius. I regretted my words more than ever now.
"Way to go mom, it doesn't matter what happened, we love dad even if you don't." Duncan left and I was alone at the dining table.
I was alone again.
Chapter 4"I don't care what mom says! We deserve to know about dad, he could still be alive! Don't you think he misses us?""But she probably has a good reason for keeping us away from him, maybe he's a bad person?""It still doesn't matter, we deserve to know. Andreius is right. We have 4o find him some way."I could hear them from the other side of the door, it was 6am in the morning and they were never up this early. I was and their discussion pierced my heart.I never wanted them to be away from Rohan but if I didn't leave, they wouldn't even have been born. I do admit I overreacted last evening but what could I have done? I'm only doing my best.I moved away from the door, it was not proper to eavesdrop, I dragged my feet to the kitchen, I was soulless, just like the day Rohan rejected me and told me to terminate my pregnancy. Everything was blank, nothing had color anymore. Dawn greeted us and now the sun was shining brightly, the boys were already dressed for school and I had
Rohan's POV"The best way to keep the rogues out is by tightening border security, we will deal with the ones we've already caught." I was ready to call it a wrap and all the other alphas nodded in agreement, "it has been a pleasure hosting you all."It was dismissed and everyone was going back to their respective packs and I was exhausted. But seeing Alex come towards me, I knew my work was nowhere near done."Alpha Rohan." He took a quick bow and I raised him up with a hand gesture, "there is something important I wish to tell you.""You didn't even let me catch my breath, I just finished a meeting with the other pack alphas and You're here telling me you got something to talk about." I mimicked his voice as he had a deadpan expression pasted on his face, I let out a huge sigh, "let it out, I'm listening.""There have been complaints of your subjects, too many people have complained of their kids going missing."The latest development was able to freeze my brain and I sat up to list
Valerie's POVI slowly opened my eyes, groggily taking in my surroundings. I was in a room I didn't recognize, with walls adorned with strange symbols and a large window that let in a flood of sunlight. My head pounded as I tried to remember how I got there. And then, like a tidal wave, memories came crashing back.My children, my precious babies, kidnapped. The pain and fear I felt was suffocating. I tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over me, forcing me back onto the bed.As I lay there, fragments of my past began to resurface. Rohan, the man I once loved with all my heart. The man who told me to get rid of our unborn child, like it was nothing more than a disposable thing. The man who now held the power to help me find my stolen children.I felt a bitter taste in my mouth as I thought of him. How could I have ever loved someone so cruel? And yet, as I looked around the room, I knew I had no choice but to beg for his help. The door creaked open, and Rohan stood before m
As the beautiful woman with piercing green eyes walked into the room, her gaze swept across the space, locking onto Rohan with an affectionate smile. She hurried towards him, her movements graceful and confident. The warmth of their embrace was palpable, and I felt a pang of... something. Jealousy? Sadness? I couldn't quite put my finger on it.When she turned to face me, her eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Who's this?" she asked, her voice polite but probing.Rohan's expression softened as he looked at me, a hint of nostalgia in his eyes. "This is Valerie. An old friend. Her children have been kidnapped, and I'm helping her find them."His mate's expression turned sympathetic, her eyes never leaving mine. "I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you find them soon." Her words were genuine, but I sensed a hint of wariness beneath the surface. As she turned to leave, I felt a pang of annoyance. Why was I feeling this way? I had no right to be jealous. Rohan had moved on, and I had too... or s
I sat at my desk, lost in thought, when I sensed a presence behind me. I knew it was Alex, my beta, without even looking up. He had a way of carrying himself that commanded attention."Alex," I said, my voice low and even.He didn't respond, but I could sense his eyes on me, awaiting an explanation. I sighed, knowing I couldn't avoid this conversation forever."You're not going to let this go, are you?" I asked, my eyes still fixed on the papers in front of me.Alex nodded, his expression unreadable. But I knew him well enough to sense the surprise and curiosity behind his eyes."I'm the father of her children," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.Alex's eyes widened, but he didn't pry. He simply nodded, his expression still surprised, but trying to cover it up."Does she know?" he asked, his voice low and even.I knew he was talking about Diana, my mate. I shook my head. "No, and she must never know."Alex nodded again, his eyes never leaving mine. "I'll keep your secret, Rohan.
Valerie's POV I trudged through the woods, my eyes scanning the ground for any sign of the triplets. I couldn't let myself get distracted, not even by Rohan's piercing gaze. I'd been trying to avoid him all day, but it seemed like the universe had other plans. As I walked, my foot caught on a hidden root and I felt myself falling. But before I could hit the ground, Rohan's arms were around me, pulling me close. "Got you," he whispered, his voice low and husky.I tried to push him away, but my body seemed to have other plans. I felt a spark of electricity run through me, and my heart began to race. I looked up at Rohan, his eyes locked on mine, and I knew I was in trouble.I tried to pull away, but Rohan's grip was firm. "I've got you," he repeated, his voice soft.Alex's voice broke the spell, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled at us. "Glad to see you two are getting along," he said, before turning back to the search.I felt my face heat up with embarrassment as Rohan fin
Valerie's POVAs my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I saw the figure move closer. My heart racing, I prepared for the worst. But as the figure stepped into the faint light, I realized it wasn't a dark shadowy figure at all. It was Rohan.I breathed a sigh of relief, my shoulders sagging as the tension left my body. "Rohan," I whispered, my voice shaking slightly. "What are you doing here?"Rohan's eyes locked onto mine, his expression softening. "I was looking for you," he said, his voice low. "I saw you run in here and I followed."I nodded, still trying to calm my racing heart. "I thought...I thought it was someone else," I admitted, feeling a little silly.Rohan's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. "I'm sorry I scared you," he said, taking a step closer. "I didn't mean to."I shook my head, feeling a little more at ease. "It's okay," I said. "I just...I wasn't expecting it to be you."Rohan's smile faltered, and he looked at me with a serious expression. "Valerie, can I ask
Rohan's POVI couldn't shake off the feeling of unease as I watched Valerie walk into her house. Something had shifted between us tonight, something I couldn't quite put my finger on.As I turned to leave, I sensed a presence behind me. Diana. My mate."Rohan, can I talk to you?" she asked, her voice tight with tension.I nodded, feeling a sense of dread building in my stomach."What's going on with you and Valerie?" Diana demanded, her eyes flashing with anger. "I've noticed the way you look at her, the way you're always finding excuses to be around her." She said her Voice Cold but Angry. I sighed, trying to calm her down. "Diana, nothing's going on. I'm just trying to help her."But Diana wasn't having it. "Don't lie to me, Rohan," she spat. "I know what I've seen. You're distant, cold. You don't spend time with me like you used to." She said. I tried to reason with her, but she was beyond reason. Her fury was palpable, and I knew I had to tread carefully If not I was going to La
