"Are you serious?!" It was the excitement in his voice that made his parents break out in a smile, the Luna letting out a small giggle.
"Yes You're allowed to throw a party but no crazy things and Valerie is basically in charge." The Luna gave her conditions and I watched my best friend nod along like a little child.
Rohan was finally turning 18 and heh had always wanted a birthday party, we came to plead our case and his parents finally said yes.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Hr punched the hair with so much happy vigor, "I love you guys so much!" And went ahead to suffocate them with a bear hug.
"Calm down, You're still a kiddo to us." His father straightened and Rohan only rolled his eyes, "We will be gone for a few days only, don't sell off the pack in a bet like you did the last time." He warned and I held back my laughter.
There was a time he did sell off the pack to the son of the neighboring pack. Fortunately for all of us, both alphas were childhood friends and taught their sons a big lesson.
"I won't!" He saluted.
Days pass and the party is in a full swing. Rohan had gotten me a pink dress that had the most beautiful ruffles and a diamond pendant. I was friends with the Alpha's son, and he had been very good to me. I was more of his caretaker but he saw.
me as the only one he could trust. Ultimately, he made me his date for the night.
And I made sure he didn't blow everything up.
"Here Val, just take a little." He pushed the drink closer to me and the intoxicating scent itched my nose, causing my face to squeeze.
"No Han, I have to stay sober so I can make sure you don't run into the wild naked." I pushed it back and turned to see the goofiest drunk smile I had ever seen on his face.
"Don't be so stuck up Val! It's just a sip, You're not going to get drunk from a sip." He cackled at me, a hiccup taking him by surprise.
I wasn't moved.
"You're just scared, that's why." And he downed the rest, to pour himself some more. I could handle anything, fighting a lion with bare hands but I couldn't stomach being called scared. Growing up with the hatred of the whole pack for being an orphan gave me the courage to do anything.
The Luna was the one who found me after I stole some food to survive and she took me in. And that was how I met Rohan. He was like a brother to me, and like typical brothers, they get on your nerves. And he had stepped on mine.
"I'm not scared!" I barked back at him, my brown orbs lit with feral determination and I snatched the glass from him and downed it in less than a minute. It was bitter and harsh against my throat but I shook it off, "don't ever call me that." I barked at him.
But he smiled at me with dreamy eyes and poured another glass, his smile becoming more idiotic.
"I bet You're too scared to take another." He waved it at me and I wanted to forget he was the Alpha's son and whoop his silly ass. The only thing that stopped me was the woozy feeling the alcohol gave me after a few minutes and inevitably I took the glass from him and took a sip.
"I'm not scared…I like it…" I admitted shamelessly and he laughed at me. Soon we were laughing at each other and dancing with our worst moves, with everyone cheering us on.
Everything was spinning so fast and it began to spin faster when his lips pressed against mine. It was all a blur, it felt like a beautiful dream, I could feel tingles all over me.
My long lashes fluttered slowly and as I came around, the batman wall clock that hung loosely was familiar and I realized I was in Rohan's room. In his bed.
Naked.
I scurried to pull the sheets across my bare skin and my fair skin was turning pink. I was trying to remember what happened, he kissed me then…he licked my neck and… oh Goddess no!
I turned to my right and he was snoring like an animal, he was also naked and the facepalm that followed was enough to send me crashing back to the bed. What have we done?
It was just a mistake right? I kept imagining what would happen if his parents found out, they would send me into the wild and I'll probably be killed. I turned once again to face him.
It was a beautiful moment, never to be repeated again.
Days passed and his parents came back from their meeting. Rohan had been silent for the past few days and I could understand, he couldn't look at me the same way. Neither could I.
"Did you enjoy your birthday party honey?" His mom pulled his cheeks and the best he could do was manage a smile, "I trust you handled things well Val?" She pulled my cheeks too and I managed a nod.
It could be that I nodded too hard but I started to feel nauseated. I held back the puke that wanted to force its way out of my mouth and the Luna noticed it.
"Are you alright Val?" She was concerned but I could only nod, the nausea came back and I was forced to leave their presence and throw up elsewhere.
But that wasn't the last one, I kept throwing up and soon I was sick and in bed. I was rolling around trying to get some rest until I heard a knock on my door.
"Are you okay Val?"
His voice made me jerk from my resting position, he was in casual clothing and he wore a concerned look on his face. I wanted to come to him but he stopped me with his raised palm. He crossed the distance between us and sat beside me.
"I came to apologize." He started, I listened, "What happened was a mistake and I didn't treat you right after, not talking to you and all." He maintained deep eye contact and I knew he was sorry.
"I'm not angry." I croaked.
"But you should be. You're my best friend and my sister, I wish I never got you drunk…" there was silence before he spoke again, "you won't tell mom and dad right?" His eyes were expecting. I was silent for a while before my lips parted.
"It's our secret."
His shoulders slumped In relief when I said that, "mom says you should go to the pack doctor to check what's wrong with you. She thinks it's food poisoning." He relayed the information before putting his hand on mine, breaking my concentration, "do you want me to follow you?"
"No you don't need to. I'll go by myself." I flashed him a sincere smile before reaching out for a hug, one he warmly and eagerly took.
The pack hospital wasn't so far, it was a stone throw and I got there on time so I could return early enough to help around the pack house. The doctor examined me and then told me to wait in his office for me.
I was nervous. I had never felt this way before, I stared at everything to distract me but I couldn't shake off the anxiety that was building up inside of me.
Then he came back and took his seat. I leaned in and he handed me a file, I opened it and read a bunch of things but it wasn't making sense to me.
"What does this mean?" I pointed out, I knew, I didn't want to believe it was true.
"Valerie, You're pregnant."
Chapter 2"This can't be true.""I'm Afraid it's true, you should talk to the Luna about it and the father too, something can be worked out so the child doesn't suffer." He scribbled something on a note and handed it to me, "Your next appointment is due in a few days. Take care of yourself okay?"He placed the note in my hands and my feet found the exit but I was practically soulless. What was I going to do? How was I going to handle being a mother? What was I going to tell Rohan?Days passed and things were never the same again, I did get better, I stopped feeling nauseous all the time but I couldn't look anyone straight in the eyes again. Especially Rohan. I did everything I could to avoid him and he was getting irritated due to my behavior. One day as I helped the Luna sort out some important records, I was alone in the dining room and he pressed his hand against the page as I was about to turn it."What is your problem exactly Val? Why do you keep avoiding me?!" He growled at me,
Chapter 3"This is not what I ordered!! Take it back immediately!"I was stuck in my spot, I was very sure this was what she had ordered, I never messed up orders, "but ma'am…" I tried to get her attention but her hard gaze sent me shivering."Are you deaf?! I said take it back!" And she threw her water at me, the ruckus caused my boss to run to the rescue."Val what is going on?!" He was panting, he was very out of shape."I told her that this isn't my order and she is here arguing with me! What happened to customers is always right?!""Val, take it back immediately!" He screamed at me and I scurried back into the kitchen. I sniffed back my tears and thought about it a lot, ever since I left, I was treated horribly, even worse by humans.Soon my boss came in to talk to me, "Never argue with the customers, give them whatever they want. It's almost closing, you should leave and get rest, do not repeat this mistake."He was right, soon it was 7 pm and I was the first to grab my things a
Chapter 4"I don't care what mom says! We deserve to know about dad, he could still be alive! Don't you think he misses us?""But she probably has a good reason for keeping us away from him, maybe he's a bad person?""It still doesn't matter, we deserve to know. Andreius is right. We have 4o find him some way."I could hear them from the other side of the door, it was 6am in the morning and they were never up this early. I was and their discussion pierced my heart.I never wanted them to be away from Rohan but if I didn't leave, they wouldn't even have been born. I do admit I overreacted last evening but what could I have done? I'm only doing my best.I moved away from the door, it was not proper to eavesdrop, I dragged my feet to the kitchen, I was soulless, just like the day Rohan rejected me and told me to terminate my pregnancy. Everything was blank, nothing had color anymore. Dawn greeted us and now the sun was shining brightly, the boys were already dressed for school and I had
Rohan's POV"The best way to keep the rogues out is by tightening border security, we will deal with the ones we've already caught." I was ready to call it a wrap and all the other alphas nodded in agreement, "it has been a pleasure hosting you all."It was dismissed and everyone was going back to their respective packs and I was exhausted. But seeing Alex come towards me, I knew my work was nowhere near done."Alpha Rohan." He took a quick bow and I raised him up with a hand gesture, "there is something important I wish to tell you.""You didn't even let me catch my breath, I just finished a meeting with the other pack alphas and You're here telling me you got something to talk about." I mimicked his voice as he had a deadpan expression pasted on his face, I let out a huge sigh, "let it out, I'm listening.""There have been complaints of your subjects, too many people have complained of their kids going missing."The latest development was able to freeze my brain and I sat up to list
Valerie's POVI slowly opened my eyes, groggily taking in my surroundings. I was in a room I didn't recognize, with walls adorned with strange symbols and a large window that let in a flood of sunlight. My head pounded as I tried to remember how I got there. And then, like a tidal wave, memories came crashing back.My children, my precious babies, kidnapped. The pain and fear I felt was suffocating. I tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over me, forcing me back onto the bed.As I lay there, fragments of my past began to resurface. Rohan, the man I once loved with all my heart. The man who told me to get rid of our unborn child, like it was nothing more than a disposable thing. The man who now held the power to help me find my stolen children.I felt a bitter taste in my mouth as I thought of him. How could I have ever loved someone so cruel? And yet, as I looked around the room, I knew I had no choice but to beg for his help. The door creaked open, and Rohan stood before m
As the beautiful woman with piercing green eyes walked into the room, her gaze swept across the space, locking onto Rohan with an affectionate smile. She hurried towards him, her movements graceful and confident. The warmth of their embrace was palpable, and I felt a pang of... something. Jealousy? Sadness? I couldn't quite put my finger on it.When she turned to face me, her eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Who's this?" she asked, her voice polite but probing.Rohan's expression softened as he looked at me, a hint of nostalgia in his eyes. "This is Valerie. An old friend. Her children have been kidnapped, and I'm helping her find them."His mate's expression turned sympathetic, her eyes never leaving mine. "I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you find them soon." Her words were genuine, but I sensed a hint of wariness beneath the surface. As she turned to leave, I felt a pang of annoyance. Why was I feeling this way? I had no right to be jealous. Rohan had moved on, and I had too... or s
I sat at my desk, lost in thought, when I sensed a presence behind me. I knew it was Alex, my beta, without even looking up. He had a way of carrying himself that commanded attention."Alex," I said, my voice low and even.He didn't respond, but I could sense his eyes on me, awaiting an explanation. I sighed, knowing I couldn't avoid this conversation forever."You're not going to let this go, are you?" I asked, my eyes still fixed on the papers in front of me.Alex nodded, his expression unreadable. But I knew him well enough to sense the surprise and curiosity behind his eyes."I'm the father of her children," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.Alex's eyes widened, but he didn't pry. He simply nodded, his expression still surprised, but trying to cover it up."Does she know?" he asked, his voice low and even.I knew he was talking about Diana, my mate. I shook my head. "No, and she must never know."Alex nodded again, his eyes never leaving mine. "I'll keep your secret, Rohan.
Valerie's POV I trudged through the woods, my eyes scanning the ground for any sign of the triplets. I couldn't let myself get distracted, not even by Rohan's piercing gaze. I'd been trying to avoid him all day, but it seemed like the universe had other plans. As I walked, my foot caught on a hidden root and I felt myself falling. But before I could hit the ground, Rohan's arms were around me, pulling me close. "Got you," he whispered, his voice low and husky.I tried to push him away, but my body seemed to have other plans. I felt a spark of electricity run through me, and my heart began to race. I looked up at Rohan, his eyes locked on mine, and I knew I was in trouble.I tried to pull away, but Rohan's grip was firm. "I've got you," he repeated, his voice soft.Alex's voice broke the spell, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled at us. "Glad to see you two are getting along," he said, before turning back to the search.I felt my face heat up with embarrassment as Rohan fin
Rohan's POVAs the night wore on, the celebration only grew more lively. The music was pumping, the food was flowing, and the pack members were having the time of their lives. I was having a blast myself, laughing and joking with Beta Alex as we danced around the fire.Beta Alex was being his usual self, cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. I was impressed by his energy and enthusiasm. The guy was like a machine, always going and never stopping. I, on the other hand, was feeling a bit more subdued. I was happy, don't get me wrong, but I was also feeling a bit more reflective. This was a big moment for our pack, and I was proud of what we had accomplished. As we danced, I caught sight of Diana sitting on the sidelines, Alexander sleeping peacefully in her arms. She looked beautiful, her hair shining in the firelight, her eyes sparkling with happiness. I felt a surge of love and pride, knowing that she was my mate, my partner in every sense of the word.Beta Alex caught my eye and
Rohan's POVAs the day drew to a close, I helped Diana pack up her belongings, getting her ready to leave the hospital. She was still a bit tired, but she was doing great, and I was so proud of her. I couldn't believe how strong and brave she had been throughout the whole pregnancy and childbirth process. As we made our way out of the hospital room, Beta Alex and Amber were waiting for us, big smiles on their faces. Those two were inseparable, and it was clear that they were meant to be together. We walked out of the hospital, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief and happiness. We had done it. We had brought a new life into the world, and everything was going great. I glanced over at Beta Alex, who was walking beside me, and nodded in approval. "Thanks for taking care of everything while I was away," I said, my voice filled with gratitude. Beta Alex smiled, his eyes shining with pride. "No problem, Alpha," he said. "Everything went smoothly. The pack is doing great."I nodded, f
Diana's POVI lay in the hospital bed, I couldn't help but feel a sense of exhaustion wash over me. Giving birth had taken a toll on my body, and I was feeling the effects of it now. But despite my tiredness, I couldn't help but keep my eyes fixed on Rohan. He was so happy, so full of joy, and it was infectious. It made me smile, even though I was feeling drained.I watched as Rohan gazed lovingly at our child, his eyes filled with a love and adoration that I had never seen before. It was a beautiful sight to behold, and I felt my heart swell with happiness. I knew that I had made the right decision in choosing to be with Rohan. He was a good man, a kind and loving man, and I knew that he would be an amazing father to our child. As I looked at Rohan, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and satisfaction. I had done it. I had given him a child, and I had made him happy. And in doing so, I had finally found my own happiness. I was no longer just the woman who had replaced Valerie.
Rohan's POVI sat in the hospital room, waiting for what felt like an eternity, I saw a nurse coming out with a bright smile on her face. My heart skipped a beat as she approached me. "Congratulations, Alpha Rohan," she said, her voice filled with warmth. "Your wife has delivered a bouncy baby boy."I felt like I had been punched in the gut, but in a good way. I jumped up from my seat, a huge grin spreading across my face. I couldn't believe it. Diana had done it. She had given birth to our child. And he was healthy. That's all that mattered.Beta Alex and Amber shared my joy, congratulating me and patting me on the back. I was so happy, I felt like I was walking on air. I didn't care that it was a boy. I didn't care about any of that. All I cared about was that Diana and our child were okay.I turned to the nurse, my mind racing with questions. "How is Diana?" I asked, my voice filled with concern. "Is she okay?" The nurse smiled reassuringly. "She's very tired, but she's doing well,
Rohan's POVI woke up with a start, hoping against hope that I would hear the nurse's voice, telling me that Diana had given birth. But instead, I was met with the sight of Alex and Amber, fast asleep in their chairs. I felt a surge of frustration and disappointment. What the hell was this? What was the meaning of this nonsense?I threw off the blanket that had been draped over me, and stood up, my eyes scanning the room for any sign of the nurse or the doctor. But there was no one. Just Alex and Amber, sleeping peacefully, oblivious to my growing anxiety.I felt like I was going crazy. I just wanted to see Diana, to know that she was okay. But it seemed like no one was telling me anything. It was as if I had to choose between the child and Diana. I had never been a father before, not really. I had been a father to my triplets, but I hadn't been there for them, hadn't played the role of a father. And now, with this new child, I felt like I was being torn in two. I wanted to be there f
Rohan's POVI fought to keep my eyes open, but they seemed to be dropping slowly, weighed down by the exhaustion that had been building up for hours. I had been by Diana's side the entire time, holding her hand and talking to her, trying to keep her calm and focused. But now, as I sat in the hospital room, waiting for the doctors to come and give us an update, I couldn't help but feel like I was running on empty. But I couldn't give in to my exhaustion, not now, not when my unborn child needed me. I had to be strong, had to be there for Diana and our baby. All I could hope for was that Diana would be able to carry the pregnancy to term, that she would be able to fight off whatever complications were arising. And all I could hope for was that the two of them would survive it, would come out alive and healthy on the other side.I took a deep breath, trying to shake off the fatigue that was threatening to overwhelm me. I looked over at Alex and Amber, who were sitting across from me, the
Alex's POVWe stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, I couldn't help but feel a sense of reluctance to break the spell. But as I glanced at my watch, I knew that we couldn't linger any longer. It was already time to head to the hospital to visit Rohan and Diana. I smiled, feeling a sense of duty wash over me.Amber, however, was not as eager to leave. As I pulled back, she pouted, her lower lip jutting out in a adorable expression. "Awwwnn... playtime's over?" she asked, her voice whiny and playful. I chuckled, feeling a sense of amusement wash over me.I smiled, reaching out to scoop her up into my arms. "I'm afraid so," I said, carrying her off the counter as she stood. Amber giggled, wrapping her arms around my neck as I carried her towards the door. We walked out to the car, the cool evening air a welcome relief after the heat of our passion. As we drove to the hospital, Amber chatted excitedly about her day, telling me about her training and her plans for the future. I listen
Alex's POV I walked back out into the training grounds, I decided that it was time to call it a day. The pack members had been training hard, and they deserved a break. I raised my voice, shouting out to the pack. "Alright, that's enough for today! Training is over, and you're all free to go."The pack members cheered, relieved that the day's training was finally over. They began to pack up their gear, saying their goodbyes and heading off to rest and recover. I watched them go, feeling a sense of satisfaction. It had been a good day's training, and I was proud of the pack for their hard work. But as I scanned the grounds, I noticed that one person was still waiting around. Amber was standing off to the side, her eyes fixed on me with a patient expression. I raised an eyebrow, wondering what she was waiting for. Didn't she know that training was over, and she was free to go?I walked over to her, a curious expression on my face. "Hey, you can head out now," I said, trying to sound ca
Alex's POVI'd had enough of the pack members' gossip and speculation. As the Beta, it was my job to keep them in line and maintain order. I raised my voice, using my authoritative tone to quiet them down. "That's enough," I said, my eyes scanning the crowd. "We don't have time for gossip and rumors. We have training to focus on, and I expect you all to get back to work."The pack members looked at each other, seemingly surprised by my sudden sternness. But they knew better than to disobey me. They nodded, murmuring apologies, and began to disperse, heading back to their training stations.I watched them go, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. I wished Rohan was here, though. He had a way of handling situations like this with ease, and I knew I could always count on him to have my back. But he was busy taking care of Diana, and I was on my own.I took a deep breath, shaking off the feeling of uncertainty. I was the Beta, and it was my job to lead the pack in Rohan's absence. I loo
