chapter 2

Kayden's POV

I woke up at midnight with a jolt, my wolf was really running around in my head causing me a massive headache. "Andy what's up, I'm trying to sleep if you haven't noticed." I half yelled at my wolf.

"MATE." He said and just like that I was no longer sleepy, I jumped off my bed put on my shirt getting ready to go to the forest. I knew Lucy and a certain omega would be shifting today. I was so excited thinking Lucy was my mate. As I twisted the door knob I smelt the sweetest scent ever. It smelt like roses and honey. I raced down the steps like a mad man only to come to a screeching halt at the door. In front of me was a gorgeous woman, she had her back turned to me but I didn't need to see her face to know she was gorgeous. She smelled heavenly. As if she suddenly felt my presence, she turned abruptly.

The only thing running through my mind was that she was not Lucy. Angered by the fact that I was wrong, I rejected her and ran back upstairs heading to my room. I closed the door with a bang as I finally felt the full effect of the rejection. It was like my body was getting torn in two. I laid on the floor until the crack of dawn when I finally had the energy to stand.

I headed to the bathroom for a cold shower to start my day.

At some point last night my mother mind linked me asking if Lucy was my mate. I told her that I will take her as my chosen mate. I didn't want to get into the details of Layla being my mate with her since she wood scratch my still open wound, so instead of answering I fed her that. The main reason she'd do that is because I'm not supposed to feel anything after rejecting an omega. It has never happened before and I don't want to go down in history as the weakest alpha because of it.

' That's great. I'll have Lucy's party changed to a crowning ceremony and you'll have the Luna ceremony the same day too. ' she was beyond excited and I didn't have the energy to talk her out of it, so I just said yes and closed the mind link.

As I was still going through my closet trying to find something appropriate for the crowning ceremony, I heard my mother's voice on the other side of my door.

" Kayden, open the door for me " with a towel still wrapped around my waist I went to the door to let her in. She hugged me then stepped aside as she ushered in about twenty omegas into my room with racks of clothes. I was about to speak in a weak attempt to save my self from her assault but she raised her hand silencing me. I resigned to my fate and let them do what they had to do. After hours of being poked and prodded from every direction, I was dressed to her liking.

She handed me my speech and stepped out with all the omegas she came with. I sat on my bed for a few minutes feeling the full effect of my actions. I didn't know if I regretted rejecting Layla or accepting Lucy as my chosen mate. I sat there practicing my speech until I knew it better than person who wrote it. Satisfied with my achievement I stood up and counted from one to ten before exiting and heading to the venue. Only I wasn't really prepared to see Layla. I lost the well practiced control.
