Chapter 65LORRAINE'S POV“Lorraine.”I swallowed thickly, freezing on the spot. What could they possibly want now? We are done discussing Lisa and Josh right? They walked in front of me and I lowered my gaze, afraid they would see the turmoil brewing inside me. “Why are you always quick to run away from us? Are we that scary?” Jayden asked me, taking a step forward. I sucked in a breath, willing myself not to move. They were scary, yes, but there was something more. Like the intense heat spreading across my body like wild fire.“I-I wasn't… r-running away…” came my miserable attempt at denial. “You're stuttering again,” Jordan stated, his eyes narrowed at me. My lips quivered as I prayed for anything to save me from the awkward situation before I die of nervousness. “Relax, brother,” Jayden chuckled, patting his shoulder gently. “We don't want to scare off our princess, do we?” Princess? My cheeks heated up. My eyes widened in mortification as I realized my face was probably st
LORRAINE'S POVMy chores were unusually easy. Just the dishes and I was ready to retire for the night or so they believed. After drying my hand with the towel, I headed for Chloe's room. I only had to knock once before she opened the door and dragged me in. “Hurry up, it's almost seven,” she said. I glanced at the clock to make sure I wasn't losing my eyesight. “It's barely ten minutes past six, Chloe,” I stated and she rolled her eyes. “It doesn't matter. Your makeup is going to take hours to hit perfection, not forgetting we need to get to the arranged location before it's five minutes past seven,” she pointed. Now that she put it like that….“Don't just stand there. Hurry up and shower!” She scolded and I scurried into the bathroom, riding my clothes immediately. No matter how many times I showered in her bathroom, I could never get used to the fact that I had access to so many skin care products. After taking my sweet time to bath, I dried myself and walked into the room.
LORRAINE'S POVMy heart drummed against my chest as the worst scenarios played out in my head. I could already imagine the punishments I was going to get.“Mom, it's a friend of mine. She's not feeling too well, I need to get her home e immediately,” Chloe said, hugging me as she faced her mother. I made sure to bury my face in her shoulder.“Really? Why are you carrying her by yourself? Where is Lorraine?” The Luna asked and I swallowed a lump. “I sent her on an errand outside the manor. Can you stop with the questions, mom? She's in pain,” Chloe groaned. Without waiting for a response, she led me outside. At least now, we didn't have to take the secret passage anymore. She got me into the car and hurried to the driver's seat.“I'm so sorry about that, Lorraine. I should have gotten flats instead but the dress is made for heels,” she apologised.I was surprised to get an actual apology form Chloe. Even though she wasn't mean or anything, she always apologized indirectly. “It's fi
LISA'S POVI stared miserably at the clothes sprawled on my bed. They were my best and the most expensive set of designers I owned. I stomped my foot in annoyance. How could this stupid blackmailer ask me to give my clothes to that low life!Even in a hundred years, Lorraine would never be able to afford the cheapest of these clothes. “Arrrgghhhh! This is so annoying!” I groaned, kicking the bag away in anger. How could I be so careless? I wasn't the type to drink at parties not talk of getting drunk!A knock came on my door, adding to my agitation.“What?!” I snapped and the door opened. Dylan strolled into my room like he wasn't invading my space. “What are you doing here?” I demanded, with undisguised annoyance.“Why are there so many clothes on your bed? Are you planning to run away?” He wiggled his brows. “It is none of your business!” I snapped. “Can you get lost now?”He was taken aback by my reaction. I have never spoken to him that way. I was usually the respectful lovely
LORRAINE'S POVI moaned, stuffing my face with as much ice cream as I could. I was no longer bothered about humiliating myself. The last time I had ice cream was when I was three. This was heaven to me. “You must really like strawberry,” Jayden noted. “Want to try another flavor? Vanilla maybe?” “I think she should try chocolate this time. All girls like chocolate,”Jordan suggested.“No, too much sugar. She's going to get sick,” Jayden argued. “And vanilla won't get her sick? It's all ice-cream, man,” Jordan shrugged.I didn't mind a show as I finished up my ice-cream. “You know what, let's just get her everything. All available flavors,” Jordan said, walking back in. I leaned against their car, watching his back frame.“Like what you see?” Jayden’s teasing voice drew my attention.“He is very handsome,” then I cupped my mouth in disbelief. I guess I had too much wine earlier. Jayden chuckled.“You're cute,” he pinched my cheek and my insides melted. “What about me? Do you think
LORRAINE'S POV I couldn't remember the last time I squealed with so much joy. I have been stuck in a place were happiness was prohibited for me. But here I was, riding along this empty land, enjoying the wind slap my face, screaming and laughing without a care in the world. For the first in a long while, I felt happy. Currently, we were sprawled on the floor but I was the only one panting despite the fact that they just ran a marathon. “I take it, you liked it. Should we go on another run?” Jayden offered. “She's breathless, brother. Let her be,” Jordan smacked his head. I chuckled in spite of myself. It was fun to see them play around. “Does that mean you'll stop avoiding us from now on?” Jayden asked me again. My expression slobbered. It wasn't that easy. I was an outcast and getting involved with them will spell trouble for me with the Alpha. “I… I'm not sure…” I mumbled. “What are you so afraid of, Lorraine?” Jordan asked this time. Thankfully, he didn
School felt more alive than it usually was. I tried to remain invisible as I headed towards my locker. There were so many groups, all gossiping about something I couldn't pick out. As I fished out my textbooks, which I made sure to always lock in my locker because taking them home would automatically put them in the same sorry state as my notebooks, the bell rang. I hurried to class and made it just in time before the teacher stepped in. Chloe arrived minutes later but the teacher merely continued teaching. “Have you heard the news?” She whispered to me. “What news?” I asked. “You have no idea?” She wiggled her brows. “Idea about what?” I asked impatiently. I knew the teacher would soon call me out and that was the last thing I wanted right now. She stealthily passed her phone to me. Once I got it, I looked up, pretending I was paying attention to get the teacher's attention off me. Once the coast was clear, I stylishly looked at the phone and my eyes widened.
LORRAINE'S POV“Get back here!” Chloe pulled me back just in time. Ahead of us were the twins but there was someone else. Someone who made my lips quiver in fear. I recognized him from the party I rescued Chloe from. What was his name again? Jake? Blake? Drake? Whatever his name was. What is he doing here? The scene didn't look good. It seemed like a fight was about to occur and it sent my stomach spiralling in panic. I didn't want the twins to get hurt. “What is going on?” I whispered to Chloe and she gave me a pointed look. “I'm sorry, I know you have no clue. It just came out.”“Let's get closer so we can hear them,” she said instead. “What? They are going to see us. Let's just hide here in the car,” I protested but when did Chloe ever listen to me?She took my hand, pulling me along as she sneaked around some cars to get closer. I didn't understand why they had to have a face-off in the middle of the parking lot. They were so exposed and that would get them in a whole lot o
