LOGINAgainst all of my prayers, the cloud soon began to pour heavily, drenching my whole body. I should go back to the pack's territory or at least take shelter somewhere till the rain subsides but I couldn't bring myself to because I was honestly worried, I might not be treated like one but Chloe is like a younger sister to me, she always had my pity as her parents made her live a confined life inside the pack's territory without a valid reason, and now she's out here all alone, it's really dangerous out here, what if she gets hurt or people bully her or does something nasty to her?
My thoughts occupied my whole senses as I walked making me unaware of the stone in front of me and I tripped, almost falling Two strong hands suddenly gripped my arm preventing me from falling to the ground. But this all seems very familiar, too familiar, my head went back to the heart-stopping moment I had with the Lycan twins in the school’s store room. I slowly raised my head, expecting to see my two familiar saviors but I couldn’t have been more wrong as my eyes met with two stone-faced men, one was tall and muscular and the other was short and not so built, they were both grinning from ear to ear as they stared at me "Careful lady, someone as pretty as you are shouldn't be allowed to fall to the ground," the short man said "Pretty? Oh spare me please, she ain't pretty but I don't mind enjoying her body either way" the tall man uttered, smacking his lips "I'm... I'm sorry and thank you for saving me from falling, I'll take my leave now" I said as I made to leave but they both held on to my arm, still gripping me tightly "We didn't say you could leave," the tall man said "What is a weak wolf like you doing outside your territory on a rainy night? You are one of those wolves that always sneaks out of their homes in the night right?" the short man queried "What? No, I promise you I didn't sneak out or anything, I just really need to find someone and I'll return to my pack" I explained hoping they would let me go "Oh it's obvious that you are a stray wolf," The tall guy said, still staring at me with his greedy eyes "What pack are you from?" The short man queried "The.... the Nightwalker pack" I replied and they busted into a howling laughter "She's from the lowest pack around here" the short guy grinned "This means we can have our fill of her without a problem" the tall guy smirked, cupping my face with his hand "No, no let me go" I cried as I struggled to break free, but my tears and cry for help were both drowned by the heavy rain "Oh tonight is going to be good, let's get under some shade and get this done with," the short guy said as they both began to drag me down a dark alley "No, no please, I'm only but a servant, I am lowly and unattractive, please let me go please" I pleaded, my voice quavering with fear. These are some of the times I detest my wolf, it should help me break free of these guys now but whenever I'm in any sort of danger, it's practically asleep, my wolf is useless. I have to find a way to save myself from these wicked wolves who bent on destroying me.They both were hit by something hard. They both turned to where that came from.
Marabella POV The aches and pains were normal but made moving fast a little unrealistic. I nodded anyway and urged my swollen feet forward. So sexy.Pregnancy was not the dream my mother had made it, although I don’t think being pregnant with a werewolf was what she’d had in mind when she had said it.“I’m okay, just get us back. I don’t know if the humans in the mansion know. We told them once they hear that howl, they need to prepare just in case, so we’ll see if they listened,” I huffed. He smiled and nodded. “You have given the humans something they were never going to get from Father,” he said, no effort at all in his pace, holding a lot of my weight without so much as a wince.“Like safety, warmth, and food? Or do you mean the ability to protect themselves, say no, and have control over their own bodies?” I smirked, and he grinned.“All of the above, little sister.”“We’re twins. I am not your little sister.”“I was born first,” he teased, leading us around the streets.I knew
Marabella POVI pushed my fingers into the soil, sighing as the magic released from my aching bones. I was so tense with all the magic inside me that it was starting to take its toll.I still had to have the bite for the toxin to keep our baby and me alive, which was the best medicine every day, but I still felt like crap.I couldn’t have the potion since my body was already full, but it was the only thing that took away the nausea and exhaustion, so now I just had to deal.It made me a little irritable and more than a little mopey. The wind was strong, throwing the tails of my coat everywhere, my braid fighting to keep my hair restrained, but I didn’t care because releasing even a little bit of the magic made things feel better. It was still dark, but it always was now, so my eyes adjusted easily, especially with the help of the flame torches my brother and Jordan carried. My alphas surrounded me, a wall of power that had my back, and I smiled at the way that made my heart flutter.B
Jordan POV Those are your wolves to account for and the times you are on watch for. You can organize your group accordingly.“If the humans attack, send out a howl. I don’t trust the link at the moment, and then we’ll all move on that signal. I want the wall covered, the mansion guarded, the arrows in the middle, shooting from rooftops, and the swordsmen at the wall.“The humans will be sent down into the armory, locked in where there is a stash of supplies and an underground system that leads to Tabitha’s.“Until that warning sounds off, I don’t want a single wolf or soul to know the existence of that tunnel.“We don’t want that information in the wrong hands, and I haven’t gone down there to check the state of it since Fractum, nor whether it is covered by the barrier.”“If it’s not, why don’t we get out?” Father scoffed. “Then we can attack the humans, surprise them.”“Because the barrier is for the wolves. The humans have been able to touch it, which means only they can escape th
Jordan POVI thought through the possibilities in my head when Marabella was there in the link, her curiosity shining through the mating. She had been listening the whole time, which I should have expected.“Jordan. If she was bound to this shadow world, would that count as a contract?” she asked in my head, and I frowned.“I suppose so,” I admitted, but I wasn’t entirely sure until the thought in her head locked in mine.“Fractum,” I whispered, my face draining. It broke all contracts.Galen sucked in a breath. “She was released.”He was quick on the draw, and I nodded. The rest of the council were frowning, and I hated to be the one to drop the bomb on them.“That witch and her creature were bound to a shadow realm, and that contract was with the witches.” I took a deep breath. “Until Fractum. It broke the contract.”I let out my breath with the words, and the entire table stilled, the words out loud, hard to swallow. Not even Tatum had a fighting word to say.“How do we kill a wi
Jordan POV Another night, another council meeting where I had to pretend that I had all the answers.I didn’t. I didn’t have a fucking clue, but I couldn’t let that show. So, I suffocated the fear that tried to leak out of my eyes, straightened my spine, and gave everyone the only attitude I ever wore around them. Confidence.Because they were wolves, old and wise, and they could smell fear a mile away, I couldn’t let it touch me.Especially since it wasn’t fear for the pack that made my stomach turn and my heart race, it was fear for my mate and the child she carried. The birth was imminent, and every day that passed was becoming even more terrifying.Marabella was strong, but she had limitations with her human body, and not even she could will that to change.Once she was one of us, it would be easier, but she had to survive first. That was getting harder to be sure of.Which is exactly why I was bothering with the council again. We couldn’t keep waiting for our wolves to get madde
Marabella POV I normally had tolerance for Cain, but I had to admit, his statement irked me. I enjoyed my time with my alphas and the reprieve they provided for us all from the troubles afflicting our pack.“That border the humans placed around the city? It’s a dome of magic, and her magic can’t pierce it,” he said.I wasn’t entirely sure what that meant.“It can’t get out of the city to the border,” Brax said, his eyes going wide.“It’s suffocating the city, saturating the wolves and all their erratic emotions. If she lets any more out of her, I think we’re going to have another heat on our hands, and so soon after the last one with a winter in play? Might as well open the gates and let the humans slaughter us before we tear each other apart,” Cain warned.Jayden growled. “One at a time then. For the mating link. None of us will survive without placating that,” he said, a frown deep on his face.I hated seeing it after the faces we had all just shared. Not a moment’s rest for the wi
