Hi readers, It's been a while. Things are getting more complicated, ain't they? Ava is losing everything. Her baby, and even her only chance of finding out why her parents died.
Ava’s POV“Elara, you didn’t tell me you were going to be back so soon,” Alpha Grindley asked, while I watched in amazement.Elara? That's her name. But who is she to Alpha Grindley?“Grindley? Who is she?” I watched Elara walk towards me, staring at me like I was some sort of thrash.“Why are you here at this hour, Elara?” Alpha Grindley turned away from me. Yanking his hand away from her.“Grindley, why are you behaving as if I’m–”“Elara! You are yet to answer me! Why the hell are you here?” Alpha Grindley sniffed, his eyes darting from me to Lucian, whose gaze was set on me, and John, whose anger was still directed at me.This whole drama is making me feel weak and dizzy.I can't believe Alpha Grindley coerced me into this, asking me to produce an heir in exchange for finding out the mystery behind my parents' death when he clearly seems to have another lady in secret?“I’m here for you, okay? Didn’t you ask me to go to Canada to become a doctor? Grindley? Why are you suddenly mad
Ava’s POVA loud bang woke me up from my sleep, and I felt a whip hit me from behind.“Fuck! That hurts!” I winced in pain.“Wake them up! Wake the slaves up. We gotta move faster!” I heard a fierce voice speak from behind.I watched the man who seemed huge, and his eyes had the moon’s light in them, pulling us out with the chains on our legs dangling.“Move it!” He shouted. And it dawned on me that Aunt Janet wasn’t the one who had attacked us earlier. It seemed to be the Mooner’s pack enemies.“If anyone is not listening to your commands, just kill them off. Remember, the Alpha hates sluggish people!” their leader lashed out.And as we walked in chains, some feeble ones amongst us kept falling, and without wasting much time, they were killed on the spot.“Double up!” the man in charge of the slaves continued to kill the weak ones who seemed to fall on the way.It was clear to me right now–everything was clear. The reason why my parents had left Lyconia to settle in the city. Why Aun
Ava’s POVI watched the werewolf soldier tremble in fear, his eyes fixed on his sword.I could read the surrounding tension, and I knew something dangerous was about to happen.“Cat got your tongue?! Why is no one answering me?” Their Alpha questioned.“Alpha, we tried our best, but we couldn't get the treasure. And—” The soldier's words came to an abrupt end as the Alpha passed through him with his sword.Blood came squirting everywhere, and his head fell off his neck instantly.“You didn't find the treasure?” he lashed in anger, his hand gagging the soldier who held me captive and had brought me to him.“We tried but…we couldn't, Alpha.” He choked on his words.I smirked, knowing fully that the treasure they sought after was still in the Mooner's pack, but could only be seen by those who possess a special ability beyond the werewolf powers.“So you brought me a woman instead of a treasure? Have you gone mad?!” He growled, smashing him against the wall while he walked towards me.“And
Ava’s POV“Hello,” I woke up in a place that was more like a garden. The sun was shining at its peak, and the aura from the flowers was a balm to my wounded soul.“Neva, are you there?” I called out. But I was met with just silence.“Hello, beautiful lady,” A voice had jolted me out of my thoughts.Looking behind me fearfully, I tried so hard to swallow the lump in my throat.“Hello, who are you? Show yourself,” I replied in fear. All I could feel were a breeze and shadows, one that passed through me at regular intervals.“Hello, Ava,” finally a feminine audible voice spoke from behind me.Turning back slowly, I clenched my fist, and partly shut my eyes.“I’m not here to hurt you, sweetheart. You can open your eyes now,” She added, placing her hand on my shoulders. And just as I did that, I saw an old woman who should probably be in her mid-sixties, standing in front of me. Her hair was old, but partially. Her body was all wrinkled, and the hands which she placed on my shoulder shook.
Grindley’s POVNo sooner had I laid Ava on the bed than I noticed some strange voices from unusual quarters. My senses heightened, and my ears became sharper, causing me to leave Ava with the doctor who was attending to her.“I will be back. Nothing must happen to her, because if she dies, you will pay with your blood,” I threatened solemnly.“Yes, Alpha,” just as he bowed towards me, I reluctantly left Ava and started trailing the sound I kept hearing.Just as I got to one of the guest rooms which was a bit far from my main room, since I had lots of visitors. The scene happening right in front of me had left me dumbstruck.“When did they start this?” I questioned myself.I have always known it. Elara wasn't going to change, and now she has the guts to do this with my beta?I felt disgusted and angry. I can't believe Elara was still a whore even up till now.I thought she had changed.Flashback“Pack your things, Elara. I don't want to see you in this pack again.” I had sent Elara away
Ava's POVJust as I watched this creature who was backing me, turning himself to face me gradually, a hand reached out from behind, and I woke up to reality. My breath became unstable, and my heartbeat raced faster.I was back to reality.Back to the whole pain, I thought I had left behind. I'm back to the Mooner's pack where all my troubles had began. And as tears rolled down my cheeks, I tried to reach out to Avanti, the lady that had helped me, but I finally came back to my senses."It was all a dream, Ava," I spoke silently to myself.I was mad at myself. I felt so angry. “Neva, we were close to seeing him,” I burst into tears.Wiping my tears as I tried to comfort myself.Maybe it’s time to go back home. This is useless anyway. Maybe I was doing too much. I couldn’t help but recall Aunt Janet’s voice in my head."You know Ava, I want you to have a good life. Marry a good man, and set aside any grudges you hold against your parent’s mysterious murderer.” “But Aunt, I can’t just f
Ava's POVJust as he pulled me closer, I felt his beard brush against my neck, as he left some hickey on my neck, while I held the door handle tighter.I felt more tears roll down my cheeks.I know I'm supposed to resist this guy here after I've lost one child to the cold hands of death. But I find myself fighting so hard with this unrealistic emotion that exists between us."Grindley, why are you doing this?" I gasped as I felt his hand trailing my thighs from beneath. What is this? Are we doing this again?! I thought to myself as I quickly yanked his hand off."Leave me alone, please!" I shouted. The more I tried to avoid him, the wetter I felt.I mean, the heat, and the tension in this room--the aura he exhibits, they are just too much for me to say no to.If only I can avoid the air this monster breathes in.I knew I was stuck with Alpha Grindley, and he would stop at nothing tonight other than to penetrate me. I can see it in his eyes. And the worst part was, there was no way I wa
Ava’s POVJust after he said that he turned towards me, throwing my clothes at me annoyingly.I blinked countless times, as I looked at him, shocked.“W–What are you doing?” I questioned, holding the bedsheet closer to my chest, as the clothes he threw landed on my face.“Get into those, and get out of my room.” He ordered, looking at me so weirdly like he wasn’t just all over me a few seconds ago.“Can I have my phone now?” I asked.“Didn’t you hear me? Or have you suddenly gone deaf?” He snapped at me, growling.Just as I saw his red eyes, I quickly put on my clothes and dashed out of the room.“Get out!” he roared.Slamming the door shut, I ran into Sandra who pushed me away, causing me to hit my head against the wall which was close by.I could hear the maids giggling, and just when I seethed, they scurried off quickly.I slammed my hand on the floor in anger, picking up my underwear, and for the first time, I looked Sandra in the eyes.“What exactly is your problem?” I seethed.“S
Ava's POVAll through the journey home, no one said a word. Not me, nor Xander. As for Alpha Lark, he slept for a long time, without opening his eyes.By the time we finally get back to the pack house, Xander made me know he was going to attend Alpha Lark, while I go see my friend, Penny. Fortunately, she was asleep.I pecked her head and made sure the blanket was wrapped around her well. Heaving a sigh, I went back to the things I packed from Aunt Janet's side. The question as to who I was kept ringing in my head."I healed him, Neva. How is that even possible?" I closed my eyes, sinking into the chair next to me. Since we got home late, everyone had gone to bed, and just a few werewolf soldiers were available."What do we do now?" Neva questioned."I don't know, Neva. I just want Lark to get better." I responded, trying to pick up the white paper with the blood stains I had seen while packing Aunt Janet's stuff."What could she have written?" I reminisced aloud but was interrupted b
Ava's POVFear gripped me as I allowed Neva to take over my entirety. "Someone's coming," Neva purred.Quickly, I closed the door leading to Aunt Janet's room, and I remained silent.Suddenly I saw a shadow pass by the window side, causing my heart to leap. With my lips drawn into thin lines, I was ready to fight back by opening the door only for me to bump into Lark.Screaming hard, he curbed my hand, causing me to miss the attack. "Let me go!" I yelled, panting heavily."Calm down, sweetheart. It's me. It's Lark." he cautioned, holding me tighter."Goddess! You scared me." I paused, trying to catch my breath.Quickly Alpha Lark's guard rushed in. "Take everything packed into the car. We'll join you shortly," he added.I looked around, still trembling at the whole tense situation. I was sure I saw a shadow, and--"You are still shaking, Ava. What happened?" Alpha Lark questioned, his eyes fixed on mine."I feel someone killed my aunt. And the person is after me too," I trembled. Yes,
Ava's POVI had arrived on the day she was to be buried. My eyes fell on the memorial photo frame, which contained not just Aunt Janet's photo. I was shocked to see my photo alongside hers. Do they really think I was dead as well?My legs wobbled beneath me as I felt tears roll out of my eyes uncontrollably. I couldn't believe the next time I'd be seeing my aunt would be in this coffin. The white, and gold coffin staring at me-it was as if I could see her.Right now, I don't even know if getting back my memories was worth it. What I feel now is pain and anguish. I feel hurt. I felt the lungs in my air a bit restricted. Holding the wall for support, I picked up my overflowing gown, as I tried to help myself in. Refusing help from Alpha Lark's guards.I had wanted to come alone, but he wouldn't let me. My heart ached so much that I couldn't help but burst into more tears, causing everyone to look back. The first person that caught my attention was Penny. Judging from her swollen face, I
Ava's POVValerie? Again? What exact;y does this lady want from me?"Valerie, get back inside." Alpha Lark commanded."Seriously? Do you want me to say everything here?" Valerie asked, staring at me in anger."Xander!" Alpha Lark reached out to his beta."Alpha, there is a breach in the south wall where our other pack is, he went to settle that," One of the werewolf soldiers reported."Take her inside, right now." Alpha Lark commanded the soldier."I will not take that from you!" Valerie lashed out."And I am your Alpha, I won't allow you to disrespect me in this manner!" Alpha Lark shouted, controlling his wolf from taking over. I trembled in fear upon hearing him thunder at Valerie."I might be a gentleman, but do not take that for granted." Alpha Lark growled. Turning towards the soldier who had reported to him about Xander. "If I turn to meet this thing here, you'll be sorry!""You called me a thing because of her?" Valerie was still struggling with the soldier when she got hit fr
Ava's POVJolting us back into reality, the knock came yet again."Alpha, there's someone here to see you," the werewolf soldier announced.I quickly took a step back, heaving a sigh as if I had just got a load off my neck, I watched Alpha Lark walk closer to me. Holding my hand like a gentleman, I was short of words.Even though I'm pregnant, and have no idea what happened in my previous life, everything I feel for him this man looks new. Like I've never loved before. It all feels like a new start.Right now, I think I'd want to be like this. If my past was a painful one, and this is my reality. Then I want to be like this."Hey, Priceless," he moved closer to me, stroking my face gently. He kissed my forehead."I don't know why this is happening, but I want you to know that you are safe with me," Alpha Lark pulled me closer. Hugging me tighter, I felt a bit at ease."The visitor came for you," Alpha Lark replied. At first, I couldn't place what he was saying. But when he finally rea
Grindley's POV"I must have been thinking a lot," I smiled, reaching out for another drink, after realizing that the whole of Ava's Aunt being here was just my mind playing tricks on me.But I might actually be putting this pack at risk. Since I know that Ava's heart is a hunter-I've lived each day in fear of her coming back. What if she comes back with her hunter friends? Over the years, the werewolf world has been on the run from the hunters because we've never been able to contend with them.I think I need to just take away all these feelings. I can't stop thinking about Ava. Am I really sad?"Alpha, I think you need to get some rest," one of the soldiers whom I had been very kind to, over the years spoke from a mile away."And you think because I've been good to you...you think you have the right to tell me what to do huh?" I shouted, my voice holding some growls in it."I know since the Luna left the palace, you feel empty and sad, but--""Enough! Peter, go back to your position!"
Ava's POVJust as I opened my eyes, I could barely see anything, and in front of me, people looked like trees.Even though I could hear their voices, I could barely see who was standing right before me. I placed my hand gently on my forehand, as I tried to get out of bed."Hey, Priceless," A hand reached my shoulders, and I was fast to yank it off."Wow, that was--""Fast?" another person spoke before I finally saw who was standing in front of me."Alpha Lark," I heaved a sigh retreating into bed upon realizing I was in safe hands, only for me to see the Kitsune girl staring at me as if she wanted me dead."Priceless," Alpha Lark approached holding by the hand, while the whole place went quiet."Did someone die?" I was forced to ask seeing how tensed the whole place was.The doctor and everyone stared at me with pitiful eyes, one that I had yet to understand."There's something you need to know first--""That you are my mate?" I quickly chimed in. I know I might have lost the most impo
Grindley's POVIt's been days since Ava has gone missing, and I couldn't help but blame it all on each and everyone that contributed to it.“You motherfucker! You caused this!” I lashed at Lucan, my brother, in anger.“And you were told she wasn't here. You brought this up on us!” Lucan's voice resonated through my ears as I heaved a sigh, my hand clenched to the arm of my throne.Drinking every day became the order of the day, as I couldn't do without seeing, Ava.I never knew I've gotten this attached, not until her body went missing beside the river Lucian had drowned, and till day I found myself thinking of her.Every lady brought forward–none of them mattered to me. All I wanted was Ava.Surprisingly, Lucian's body was the only thing found, Ava’s body disappeared mysteriously, when I've just watched Lucian took her with him while he fell off the cliff.I was lost in thoughts when one of my soldiers called from behind.“Alpha!”“Yes! Did you find her?” I questioned, handling the gl
Ava's POVFear gripped me as I looked at myself in the mirror, and different thoughts ran through my mind. The maids watched my hands tremble as they braided my hair into a ponytail to suit the dress I was wearing.Knock!"Who is it?" I asked solemnly."The Alpha is at the dining table, and he's waiting," a masculine voice responded."Just a minute," I replied, my heart racing faster.Unsure of what to do, I asked that I be given a glass of water to cool off before I finally got set to meet him."Shall we?" Xander who was already at the door asked, stretching his hand to me.I heaved a sigh and swallowed hard before I put my hand in his, while he walked me down the hallway. Before I got to the dining hall, I could hear people chattering, and the clinking of glass cups, with some soft music below. My heart fluttered, as I froze on the spot, before thinking of what to say once I stepped into the gathering.I didn't know Xander his Beta could feel my resistance, not until he spoke funnily
