Chapter 69

Kaiden's POV

I felt like I had swallowed a hot, burning coal, and it had sunk deep into my body cavity, burning me on the inside. Watching Rayne leave the room became one of the hardest things I had ever done, and I didn't want to do it.

The problem lies within me. I couldn't understand what I had seen after I followed her into that place. Images warred in my mind, pulling me from one resolve to another. The moment Victor kissed her, I had left, because I didn't want to watch any more, but . . . I think I had heard something else. The problem was remembering what I heard, and if I even heard anything at all.

Savannah pulled me down to her again, and I obeyed, resting once again on her thighs, and letting her run her fingers through my hair.

She parted the middle section of my hair, her breath soft against my cheek. “Don't worry about them, Kaiden. You're too hard working to take on all these struggles yourself. You need assistance.”
