Rayne's POV

I had promised myself that no one would ever consider me helpless ever again.

I didn't even let his lips fully settle before I pressed both hands on his chest and pushed him away with a loud roar. “Get away from me!”

Victor's back slammed into the other wall. He stayed there for a little moment, watching me with flashing gold eyes. Eerily, almost like a puppet, he regained his composure.

“Did you know that not very long ago, it was common practice to share mates?” He made a false lunge at me, and I stumbled back, nearly missing my footing. He laughed, and the sound grated against my ears uncomfortably. “I'm sure Kaiden wouldn't mind me having a little taste of his latest pet.”

“You're sick, and I'll make sure he finds out about that,” I said, already backing up the stairs I came through.
