They laid together afterwards, basking in the afterglow of their mutual passionate engagement.

Myra's hand rested on Roman's chest, and his arm encircled her small waist. She could hear his heartbeat slowing down little by little. Soon, his eyes would close, and sleep would take over.

A part of her wanted to feel guilty for what she had done, but she silenced it.

Fingers traced her shoulder gently. “Why?”

Myra knew that Roman wouldn't rest without knowing what happened. He knew when to ask questions, and when to say nothing.

Why now? Why today? Those were likely the questions rolling about inside his head. Of course, he would have found it strange that Myra turned up at his doorstep and simply threw herself into his arms. Such a thing couldn't have just occurred without any prompting. No smoke without fire. His mind hadn't been too lost in physical pleasure to forget that.
