121 A Game

Selene’s POV

He paused when he saw me, but then his eyes turned cold.

I covered my mouth and shook my head at him. I don't want more people to know that I overheard their conversation, which could get me in trouble.

I have no way to protect myself in this palace. I can only try to make myself invisible. These princes have a great deal of power, and if they mistreat me or kill me, no one will punish them. My body would be wrapped in mats and thrown off the cliff.

My eyes were filled with horror and supplication. Beowulf frowned. He looked back at the princes in the living room, who were speaking obscenely, and mouthed to me, "Get out!"

Although his expression looked scary, I knew I was safe. He has no intention of making me suffer here.

"Beowulf, what's wrong? Who's out there?" The eldest Prince's voice was still loud.

There was an instant silence in the living room. I guess all eyes were on the door.
