"Veronica!" Sky shouted, looking like a puppy that was about to be given a treat.
"Yes, Sky?" I grinned, watching his childish behaviour.
"Rogues." He said excitedly.
I nodded, smiling along with him, "How many?" I asked.
"11," he yipped.
"Big group, this oughta be fun." I smirked. "And location?"
"Up north by the old pack house," he informed me.
4 years ago the dark moon pack resided in this territory, it was four years ago that I had teamed up with Sky, and we began to train each other, being a white wolf, I instinctively knew some fighting techniques, and in return for proper training, I taught Sky how to stay in tune with his senses a little more.
Back then we were just starting out, we didn't have anything but the clothes on our backs and the knowledge in our head.
We caught wind of the alpha passing away from the dark moon pack, and knew that the pack would be at it's weakest. We heard the news from passing rogues, rogues were thought of as vicious, but honestly most of them were only rogues because they had been kicked out or just didn't like the rules. Rogues had a strange community, they might attack packs but generally they leave other rogues alone, they aren't looking for trouble, sometimes they just happen to find it.
The rogues we had spoken too wanted to be in a pack more than anything, but no one would take them, there was only three of them, but were getting denied everywhere just because they weren't too used to pack life, they'd been rogues for too long. So we decided to band together, we figured if we could get some territory then we'd be able to become a proper pack, and we decided that I would be the alpha.
Yes a female alpha, in the wolf world females are viewed as weak, but honestly, I was the first white wolf in a heck of a long time, so I personally didn't care about the 'unspoken rules' for being an alpha, and neither did the rogues. Besides, being a white wolf came with some pretty awesome benefits, for instance I was able to hear another packs alpha order if it was through mind link, and sometimes if I get really mad, I can move things with my mind, but that happens once in a blue moon.
But anyway, we decided that we would attack the dark moon pack, try and claim their territory. Of course once we got there and told them they could either hand it over willingly and join our pack or we would fight them for it. Naturally they wanted to keep their territory, however about 4 of them actually joined us. But the other 36 of them weren't so easy to give it over, they didn't take me seriously, since I was female.
Now that really riled me up, so you can imagine what happened next.
I just snapped, no literally I actually just snapped the beta's neck with my mind. That was when I discovered that particular gift. It really scared the rest of the pack I'll tell you that. With no authority, they didn't know what to do, it was pretty easy to attack from that point.
A couple more joined us, the rest we killed. Bringing our groups total to 12, which, fair enough was pretty small for a pack, and yes we were a pack then, considering we had territory. However we had managed to take on a pack of 40, and word was starting to get around.
The pack's territory was pretty good, uneven land meant that it was harder to attack, the dark moon pack hadn't used this to their advantage though, so we quickly taught ourselves how to handle our land.
The pack house was pretty crappy, we couldn't really do much in it, so we decided to just leave it as a backup and build a new, bigger house. Because news of our attack was travelling, it wasn't long till allies of the dark moon pack began to try to claim back the territory for themselves, but we were well prepared, and dodged their attacks by hiding and jumping out when they least expected it. We killed most of the packs, some of the members decided to join us.
A lot of rogues came to us too.
Over the four years we've managed to get our pack total up to 90. Which is pretty darn big for a pack. And we got new recruits every month.
In these past four years, I had changed my state of mind completely, before I was innocent, the kind of girl that wears hello kitty pyjamas and tied her hair in pigtails.
Now I'm strong, confident, and i'm a warrior. We decided to name the pack Dark Skyver, it was a combination of the lands original name, along with my new name at Sky.
I was just about as excited about Sky about the rouge attack. I just learnt not to show my emotions on the outside. Emotions are a weakness.
We ran up north to where the rogues had been spotted, and quickly caught wind of their scents. It was only me and Sky coming to counter their attack. But it was enough.
Sky went forwards first to confront the wolves.
"Why, hello there!" He grinned, most of the 7 rogues looked irritated, but there was one who grinned back, he looked pretty young, but instantly I thought he should join my pack.
"Get the grinning kid." I mindlinked Sky.
"So anyone want to join or just attack? Only chance." He offered.
Immediately the young one piped up and came forward.
"Johnny!" One of them groaned irritated. Wow what a grumpy lot they are.
"We want to fight your alpha, we can definately take her on." They chuckled.
I stayed where I was, in the shadows.
"You sure about that?" Sky asked and they nodded vigorously.
He sighed, "Wow. . . I never thought rouges were so dumb."
They were about to speak when I tapped one of them on the shoulder, they didn't even notice me sneaking up behind them, hah!
He turned to see me and attempted to punch me but before he could I had my arm wrapped around his neck and was snapping it.
Soon the others shifted and turned around and were trying to get a good bite at me, but me and Sky were good, and we managed to take them down in a matter of minutes.
While we were fighting, I noticed a presence of about 5 packed wolves. Packed wolves never attacked in numbers that low, so I figured they were here to bring a message.
When we were done fighting, I brushed myself down and said, "You can speak you know."
Sky looked up, only now noticing their presence.
I smirked at him and looked up at the 5 wolves, who looked stunned that I had noticed them.
"I take it you've brought a message?" I asked. None of the wolves were alpha's, just a beta, it reminded me of the time we acquired this land.
The beta nodded. "We bring news of the new alpha down south."
That perked my interest. "Age?"
"20," they spoke.
I nodded. "That all?"
"As usual the alpha will presently be touring the packs to introduce himself, as you have neither an alliance or a history of attack he requests to come see you."
I nodded, "alright, now get off my land before I skin you alive."
They looked a little shocked at my harshness, frozen in place for a moment, so I whipped my knife out of my pocket and began to glaze it with my finger. They left pretty quick after that.
I laughed and turned to go back to the pack house.
The new alpha was 20. I was 20.
It was the age that Dustin would be, had he survived. The age he would have taken over the pack.
I wondered how different everything would be if he hadn't died. . .
Perhaps I would still be the sweet little girl I used to be. Or maybe I would have turned out the same way, it was always hiding inside of me, just waiting to be unleashed.
Would I have found my mate?
Although if I'm honest I can't imagine that I have a mate out there, I'm basically a demon, who would want to mate with me? Do I even want a mate?
I mean, it's not like I've never wanted one, when I was growing up it was all I wanted, I couldn't wait to turn 16 and find my mate. Except I never did. Besides, I don't think I want one anymore. Mate's are a weakness, and what if I ended up with some absolute twat?
No I couldn't handle that, I'd reject them on the spot. But would I really? Could I really do that to someone I'd spent 16 years waiting for?
Who knows. . .
And I sure as heck didn't want to find out.
Preparations were being put in place for the new Alpha's arrival, and my pack, though calm on the outside, was anxiously waiting for him to get here so that we could get back to pack business. In the meantime, I was preparing my pack for what to do when he arrived."He will probably bring about 10 warrior wolves with him, but not his Beta, who will be looking after his pack back home, usually this wouldn't be a threat but as we have no history with this pack we need to be prepared." I checked to make sure everyone was listening.I nodded, satisfied that they were giving me their full attention and continued, "Do not let them into the buildings without consulting me or Sky first, you should never find yourself alone with one of the wolves, if it is a warrior you will need 3 of you with them, despite your title, if it is the alpha then it is 5, and if any of them try anything you will mind link me immediately, understood?" I asked. My pack gave confirming n
The large wolf stared me down like I was his prey. The ripped flesh that hung down from his strong jaw taunted me, it made me know that the end was near. The vicious growls emitting from it's mouth was enough to tell me that this was a situation I did not want to be in. All I was was a weak human, I couldn't shift. I was powerless. His massive jaws began to widen, about to gulp me down like I was a piece of meat. He didn't. Because my pack got in the way.My parents, my alpha, Dustin, my friends, everyone. Everyone was here to protect me.And they all died. . .The vicious rogue ripped through them, killing them all instantly. There was no one left to hear my screams. The screams that ran through the thick tension that carried the air around us as the wolf stalked over to me, eyeing me up.It was time to die.My last thought was that I would see my loved ones up in heaven. It was my last thought before the beast lunged at me, s
The alpha continued to stare at me in shock, his eyes wavering slightly between my face and my gun. I refused to take my gun down, instead holding it up, poised and ready to shoot at a moments notice. I stared at him, taking the time to give him a once over. His golden locks shimmered in the sunlight that shone through the gaps in the tree's, it blew around a bit due to the wind, and was a bit messy. His eyes were a dark, disbelieving brown, and they looked so familiar... His eyes reminded me of someone, someone whom I'd looked into the eyes of many times before. Someone that i'd shared secrets with, who had held my hand when life got tough. This man was the spitting image of Dustin. Everything from the way he held himself to the almost innocent look in his eyes. My eyes clenched shut without my permission as memories flooded my mind. "Cassandra!" a voice shouted out, I spun around, laughing as I spotted a gleeful, 12 year old Dustin. "Cassandra, wait up!" "Dustin!" I giggled
"Alpha? Alpha, are you okay?" A voice yelled through my mind, causing me to whip up into the upright position as I lay in my bed. I noticed Dustin lying on the ground looking uncomfortable.I lay back down, not wanting to wake the sleeping alpha while I tried to figure out where the voice was coming from—it was not one from my pack."Alpha!" The voice screeched, causing Dustin to whip up. He could hear it too? Then it clicked—I was hearing his pack link.I sighed and closed my eyes."Alpha! Where have you been? You were supposed to come back immediately! It hasn't kidnapped you has it?" They asked worriedly.Dustin groaned from the floor, "No she hasn't kidnapped me."I realised that he had been referring to me as 'it' I scoffed, how rude."Then what happened?" The voice asked."I-" Dustin paused, "I found my mate."I held in a breath, I didn't want word spreading that I had a mate!"You—what? Our Luna? You found her?""Yeah but uh, she doesn't exactly want me so... I'll probably not
Taking a deep breath, I revelled in the natural aroma of the forest, clothed in a fitted black vest top and leggings, I closed my eyes, tuning into my other senses. The calm breeze that rustled the tree's above me, the faint trace of my pack members trails across the colourful leaves. But most of all, the annoying breathing of Dustin right beside me.It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that I couldn't leave his side, and I hated it.Whenever I stepped even an inch out of the 'safe zone' a piercing shriek would screech through both of our minds, and although it was somewhat bearable, Dustin always came running after me, wanting to get rid of the noise.Granted, I wouldn't have much peace with the noise but it's still better than this.So it had been decided for me that I was to stay within a meter of him till the end of the week, but I had a couple of questions for him first that needed to be answered.Snapping my arm out and grabbing his wrist, I sucked in a breath as the
DUSTINI felt like I was being kept on a leash, but for once I didn't care. I was with my mate, no matter who she was. When she was asking me about my pack, my wolf was practically leaping inside of me, which was a change to how mad he was at me recently, I figured it was because of rejecting my mate, but I was trying right? I can't help thinking there's something else.I had been 16 when we were attacked, and well at that time I hadn't found my mate, I had always hoped it was Cassandra, and I was sure she wanted that too. When Cassandra shifted, we weren't looking out, everyone had been so sure we'd be mates, they all wanted to be there to see the soon to be alpha find his mate. When she shifted, I tried to be there for her, I saw her and I felt something small, but it was like my wolf was holding me back, like he knew we weren't really mates. When I saw the pure white of her fur I could barely contain my excitement, white wolves were so rare, I couldn't remember the last time a pack
"So... do you not have alpha blood then?" Dustin asked me, we were sat in my room as I checked over some paperwork. "No, why do you ask?" I hate to say it but I know that I was acting differently towards him now, I was more used to him being around me, and my wolf wanted to badly to accept him. "Well, I mean you are practically the strongest alpha around, and that has nothing to do with your bloodline?" He stared at me, waiting for me to reply. "I taught myself to be stronger," I said, not looking him in the eye. "Could you teach me?" He asked longingly. I looked up to meet his gaze, my wolf was trying to move my lips for me, to make me say yes, instead I told him. "Strength comes from the inside, it is not something that can be taught." "You taught your pack." "I didn't teach them how to be strong, I taught them how to to find it themselves." "Oh," He sighed, leaning back on the bed. I narrowed my eyes at him, not missing how the movement caused him to be closer to me. "Do y
I was beginning to regret telling him. He just kept on staring at me with a load of sappy devotion like he was about to burst! It was like he couldn't believe that I was here. And there was the questions. Endless questions that seemed to go on forever."How did you get so strong?" Was his latest question."I trained." I replied with a sigh. There was a pause, and I leant my head back against the wall, relieved that I had some time to myself in my mind.It didn't last long."What really happened to you?" He asked me.I sighed, I guess this part was pretty unavoidable, and he had done well to hold it back for more than 10 minutes since he figured it out."I dont even know where to start.""Why did you run?" he asked, his voice trembled, like he thought it was because of him."Everyone was staring... I didn't know why... It was like they were digusted with me, i couldn't handle it.... I had to get away." I took a deep breath. "So I ran, i saw my reflection in some water and realised why
The pain keeps on increasing and increasing. I shivered as a cool breeze hits my body. But I'm unable to decide why I am feeling so cold? Suddenly warmth fills my body and I absentmindedly clutch the cloth closer to me in desperate need to get rid of the cold and feel some warmth. Still uncomfortable with the situation I twist and turn. Finally, I give up and open my eyes. The moment I did, trust me, I wanted nothing more than to go back and close my eyes, sleep again and think that I am just dreaming. I was back. Back in the same place I dreaded the most. The same cage I lived in, few years back. But only this time, I had company. A warm shawl was draped over me, and I was wrapped in it. I think that's what provided me warmth. "Mischa!? What is going on in here?" I questioned my voice hoarse. I pull my body up balancing on my hands as I try to sit up. Mischa glances down at me worriedly and yells at someone and something about a healer. "Someone please tell me, what the heck is
BYRONE My head feels like it's going to burst any second now. When we reach towards the northern wing of the pack house, it seemed much like havoc. Turns out someone has been spreading rumors about a criminal; who escaped from our dungeon cell and is now hiding in the northern wing. That's nearly impossible, as I have my pack's best warriors guarding the dungeon today because of the fest. And Enrile just returned from patrol, so call it overconfidence but I know this won't happen. These gullible Luna's created the whole chaos, taking me away from my precious mate and from our moment together. I release a tired sigh. It's not always I receive some sort of response from Avery, but today I felt like she will agree with me and be my mate. Then of course it had to be ruined. My mate who would have thought. I smiled thinking about her dark brown locks and her warm hazel brown eyes which reflects every emotion so deeply when she lets them to be seen. Her skin is a perfect blend; neithe
"Mischa... W-Why?" I groaned, clutching my chest. Somehow the drug she injected inside me, hurts me in my chest. And I have no idea what is happening inside me. The twist in the tale is being an Alpha Healer, I can heal others but when it comes to me, my body betrays me. I heal at a very slow rate but that doesn't mean that I won't heal. And that is what giving me strength right now to stand and speak even after being in heart wrenching pain. "I'm sorry... I had no other option. I am in as much trouble as you are right now." She whispers unable to meet my eyes and I stumbling upon my legs like a drunk turn and look at the person behind smirking at me. Narrowing my eyes, I step back pushing Mischa at my back to protect her. But when I tried to shift, nothing happened. The colour drained off my face and the smirking man infront of me chuckled. "Unable to shift, Dear Alpha?" He questioned tauntingly. I swear if I wasn't tricked this way I would have just killed him right here. Witho
You know that moment of your life when you are facing a situation and you are in a big dilemma of whether to explain yourself and fall right in the trap or stay quite and face the consequences. I am stuck in the same situation. Xian played it well here. "I want Avery." He demanded "Because I have heard of her skills and I need her extra healing skills..." He added, and my stomach churns at the thought of going with him. No one knows him the way I do. It's all a facade. I doubt if he needs my healing skills, I know he wants me back for some unknown reason. He played it well because he knows Byrone can't say him no. Not in the pack meeting. It's against the rules of the fest. Fest is celebrated to bind everyone together and Byrone being the organiser if refuses to help, the whole purpose of fest will fall apart. This is the moment I regret not telling Byrone about my horrific past with Xian. I kept myself hidden from Xian for a long period of time, I had no idea he will find me
I smirk knowing well that I had sparked his Interest in me."You seem to have lot of confidence in yourself." He comments cocking his head to one side and raising a brow at me.I turn and look at him sceptically. And then I smile again. I know my smile and calm attitude irks him more than my confidence."You don't survive in this world if you lack in confidence." Is all I answer before I leave and walk towards Byrone, smiling at him, who is currently busy talking to someone. They can't be dealt in evening at the meeting. He smiles at me as he sees me coming towards him and stretches his hand for me to take. I walk towards him giving him my hand but he refuses to hold my hand. I look up confused and he just smiles and place his hand on small of my back."Here, meet Avery, my mate." He Introduces me with so much pride in his voice that for a second I'm so moved with his actions that I forget that other person is greeting me."Avery, he is James. My very old friend and Alpha of Destiny p
When you meet me first time, yeah I give you the impression of those womens who hardly knows how to dress up.I totally agree because I have been in jeans throughout my life, but when the event comes, I know how to dress to impress.Willingly or unwillingly, today, I want to dress nicely. As cliché as it sounds, but for Byrone. His opinion matters. I want to look good for him. I enjoy his eyes on me and well, I don't get lot of opportunities to dress up, so I'm gonna grab whatever I got.I pick the clothes and place it down on the bed after analysing for n'th times if this is 'The' dress for the fest today. Considering it's an outdoor event, so I picked a light outfit for a better appearance.I quickly dress up because Arena here has dutifully informed me that most of the guests had already arrived.Curling my hair, I keep my makeup light for a natural look with nude lipstick and kohl and pair my dress with black cutout heels. The day is clear and bright, radiating happiness and with
My senses became active even before my eyes. I can feel hushed murmuring somewhere around me but I can't point out who they are, my head throbbed and to add on it, I feel the burning sensation on my birthmark returning back.My life could never get better. I'm sure, I must be some defected piece or maybe I irritated God a hell lot in my previous life that he thought of sending me back on earth and take his revenge this way. Whatever it was, I'm surely paying for something that I don't even know about. My eye lid for the first time felt like weighed tons as I find myself unable to open my eyes. But my wolf ability allowed me to listen through the hushed conversation. It went like."You don't even know who she is! She is a bad news and you should send her off.""She is my mate. I'm listening to you just because I respect you and you were a good friend to my mother.""That's why I am suggesting you to leave her, let her go. She'll be nothing but a huge danger to you. I can feel it.""How
When I open my eyes I find myself in a different room. The bed is softer and the room is huge. When I say huge, I mean it. It's really huge.I throw the covers and sit on the bed.The room has big ceiling to floor length glass windows just like the windows back in my little room, partially covered by the silky curtains and allowing the soft rays of sun to fill in the room. The room is painted in luxory cream colour and the king size bed is placed against a wall in the centre of the room. I scramble out of bed and stand on my stature. The room has a huge mahogany desk placed against the glass wall and there are lot of papers scattered on the table. My sight runs around the room and settles on doors. The room has three doors, which I suppose is washroom, closet and the door to take me out of the room. I just have to choose the right one.But what catches my attention is a picture. Exactly above the bed's headboard on the wall is a picture. A family photo to be precise. The man is sittin
I never thought I'll be visiting a dungeon twice in a time difference of just 72 hours. But guess it's good unless they aren't putting me inside one of those silver laced cell.As we enter inside the wolf starts howling at the sight of Byrone but what surprises us is the calmness in them as we both make way towards the circular area. The sounds suddenly stops and all of them looks at peace. They are still inside their respective cell but all of them look calm.Byrone who is totally surprised keeps on looking inside the cell and then at me. And I have no idea why he is doing that."Avery?" He calls while looking towards a wolf inside the cell who by the mark on him, is a rogue."Yes?" I ask unsure of what I am seeing. The last time I entered here it wasn't same. The last time they all were howling though now that I think, yes, they were silent again after some time. What is this?"Avery, why is he bowing down to you? Not that I mind but a prisoner.. It isn't making sense." He asks nonc
