Adams’ POV

Disturbances like that were sure to make me lose my temper. There had been too many things I had been planning to do with Lilith that night, only to have them all interrupted by the visit from the so-called important guests.

“This had better be worth it, Ronan.” I aired out all of my vexations to my Beta as I walked to the front entrance where he was probably waiting for me with the guests.

“They look pretty serious to me,” Ronan said to me as he was trying to keep me from getting too pissed, before I would hear them out.

I was soon standing in front of the men who were clothed in black robes with hoods which covered their faces partially. That was a bit suspicious as I was about to take them for spies. It was really hard to understand just what they could have been there for.

“Here they are, Alpha,” Ronan said as he pointed them to me while staring at them with a really unwelcoming gaze.

“And to what do I owe this unprecedented visit…?” I asked, without waiting for them

Adams’ POV“How did she come back and through where?” I asked, snapping, completely astonished and flabbergasted. I tried to understand what he was saying, but it was very surprising. “I don't know how or where, Your Highness,” Ronan replied, with shock evident on his face.I pulled up the horse's rein to make it go faster, and it trotted back home without informing him. He tried following me immediately but his horse was giving him a hard time and I couldn't wait for him as I wanted to be sure Lilith was really home. What could have happened? And how did she get back because I'm sure she wasn't there and the absence of her scent confirmed so?I got to the mansion gates and the guards opened the door immediately, letting us in, and my horse was moving too fast, so I pulled the reins of the horse to stop it.I got off the horse before it would even stop, and I rushed up to my room to be sure if Ronan was right. She muttered silently.Adams rushed to her, sitting by her side. He pulled her to his chest, completely bothered about her welfare as she had seen a lot of violence in one night. Lilith cleaned her eyes and she looked at him with her red - swollen eyes that made Adams' heart ache in pain.“We will have to be more careful and watchful, because the man intends to kill me, but because of your being there, he killed the guards as a warning,” she said to Adams. Though she tried to be strong and composed. Adams nodded as he held her hand, gently taking her out of the room, and mind linking Ronan, who joined them immediately in his home office.“Who could be behind all these mishaps? Ben?" Ronan paused, and continued, "I think, for the meantime, you may have to change your room. You shouldn't stay in that room now,” Ronan said, after Adams n

But the knocking kept going stronger and steady. Complaining, I swung my legs over the bed, my feet touching the cold wood floor.“Okay, okay, I’m coming!” I said, feeling annoyed as I walked to the door.Ronan’s friendly face welcomed me when I opened it. He was smiling with a confident look with three serious men in dark clothes behind him. They stood straight, their eyes wide and careful.“Good morning, My Queen,” Ronan said, nodding a little. His voice was nice, but there was a quick need beneath it.“What's happening Ronan?” I frowned, my face showing confusion. “Why are you here so early?”Ronan pointed to the three men with him. “The Alpha King sent these three to keep you safe.”“I don't need bodyguards, Ronan,” I said, my voice very mad. “This is silly.”“Please, Your Highness,” Ronan said seriously. “This isn't a choice. A gentle smile spread across my face, a warm expression that felt like it could light up even the saddest of hearts.“I believe it might be a good idea for me to step out for a little while,” I quietly said, my voice soft and not much louder than a whisper. “I really don’t want to keep bothering you while you have someone here visiting.”He raised his gaze upwards and a look of worry crossed his good-looking face.“You really don’t need to go, Lilith. I would much prefer it if you decided to stay. You understand that, right?”I smiled, thinking of how much Adams loved me and wanted me to be around him always while I pushed some strands of hair behind my ear. “Yeah, I understand, my love," I said, and I moved closer to give him a kiss on his lips. However, I think it might be a good idea for me to go outside for a little while. You will probably need to talk about important things without me be

Author's POVRaider sat by himself at the long wooden table, the flickering candlelight making shadows dance around the big dining room of the Green Forest pack's main hall. His fork absentmindedly traced the edge of his plate though he had long stopped tasting the roasted meat in front of him. He looked up to see Cassandra walking with her hair flowing over her shoulders like a dark waterfall lit by moonlight, and a bright smile lighting up her face.“Sorry, I’m late,” she said, drifting towards him like a puff of smoke. “You know how it goes; the pack always has something to talk about.”“Don't stress over it,” Raider said with his tone calming right away. “I was just… thinking about life while I ate dinner.”Cassandra laughed softly as she sat down across from him, her giggle easing the tightness that had built up all night. “A big problem about lamb chops, huh?”“Feels more like a regular meal while my thoughts drift away.” Raider leaned closer and spoke in a teasing tone. “But I

Adams' POVThe forest appeared ahead covered with an uneasy feeling. As I guided my men into the Green Forest Pack’s territory, I felt the heavy crown on my head.It was a steady reminder of my responsibilities as Alpha, and King of all the Packs. My warriors were nearby, their faces tensed with anticipation, ready to battle, but the deep silence unsettled even the most seasoned of them.“What's happening?” Ronan, my Beta, whispered, looking at the trees as if they might suddenly attack us.“Be careful!” I said, looking closely at the darkening sky. “We might be walking into a trap.”Next to me, Lilith rode, her calmness a source of comfort. She looked at me, and said, “No matter what comes, we will handle it.”I nodded, feeling thankful for her bravery. We had made it too far and given up too much to stop now. Together we moved forward deeper into the Pack.By the time I stepped on the boundary, I expected trouble, but the woods were strangely quiet. I noticed my men sharing anxious

Their threats will no longer hang over my packs and I will not have to be afraid of backstabbers anymore.“We did it, Adams,” Lilith said quietly, her voice a mix of relief and surprise. She moved closer, her bright green eyes looking into mine. “It is finally done.”A huge weight lifted off my chest at her words. “Yes... it is settled.” Our eyes met and at that moment every other thing felt unimportant. I pulled her close, ignoring our friends and the signs of the battle, kissing her passionately. The salty flavor from sweat and dirt dripped down my throat, but in her presence even the bad feelings turned good. We hugged each other tightly, connecting our hearts as one, enjoying the joy of our victory, and fin

Two wolves fighting each other—a fierce and savage dance involving their sharp claws and powerful teeth. The air was filled with the wild and piercing sounds of battle cries which vibrated through the ground under our feet. I became more alert and focused with each second that passed. “Look over there!” I said excitedly, pointing my finger towards something I recognized among the group of troublemakers.“It is the Green Forest, my home pack! I can’t believe they would turn against us like this. How could they do something so hurtful?”Adams' spoke to me, “Ben has influenced their thoughts in a very negative way. He had convinced them that they would take control and gain power. He will not give up until he has succeeded in tearing us apart completely.”“Then we will demonstrate to them exactly what loyalty really mean

You were one of the good people in our pack!”“There is no connection between us, only the pursuit of power!” he exclaimed with anger, with his eyes narrowing in a way that showed an intense bitterness I could hardly recognize.“And you, my dear King, are blocking the path forward. You must make your choice carefully and think it through.”“Choose death instead of being a servant?” I laughed bitterly, anger burning inside me. “Do you really think I’d submit to Augustus? Adams' POVI stood at the very edge of the sturdy stone wall of the fortress. The old stronghold which had been the home of my family for many generations was built with tall parapets. These walls had once been alive with the noise and excitement of battle, filled by my brave ancestors who were skilled archers ready to protect our land from any invaders. Now, however, darkness surrounded us completely and a thick silence pressed down on our group of warriors. It felt strange and unsettling as if we were all holding our breath together, both the defenders standing ready and the shadows that seemed to inch closer and closer to us.To my left was Ronan. Right now he looked very tense. His usually bright and lively eyes were narrowed, and he was carefully looking out at the land in front of us, searching for any signs of movement. All around, the generals and captains of the Bloodhound Pack were standing in a tense way, almost like tightly wound bowstrings. Their muscles were tight and pr
