Lilith's POV

Adams didn't smile, nor did Ronan. Their faces were grim, a person who tasted vinegar wouldn't look as bad as they did.

I wanted to ask how long I was out and what I had missed all through the day, but decided not to.

It could wait.

“What's wrong? Did something terrible happen during the day?”

They didn't reply or move, they remained like a statue, suspended in time.

I tried to move but my head hurt, just like the dream. Adams noticed my discomfort, from the speed with which I touched my head, to the frown on my face.

“What's wrong, my love?” he asked. He moved closer to my side and tried to touch me, but I resisted him.

“Don't touch me, I'll be fine.”

He looked from me to Ronan, who was also surprised by my response. Ronan raised his shoulders and stretched his arms, opening his palms.

Adams sighed and looked back at me, his eyes were red with veins popping at their edges.

“Talk to me Lilith, what's the problem? You are being distant. Are you angry with me? Did I do some

Every part of my body remained normal with no dark fur or hair shooting out of it.He only took over my senses and everything connected to it, from my eyes, voice and muscles.“Adams,” she called me, but Ted laughed.“I am not Adams, I am Ted, his wolf. And you are my mate.”She detached immediately, and fell back into the bathtub, staring at Ted like he was some mysterious wonder.“What did you do to Adams?” She asked, her voice trembling like the strings of a guitar. “Adams? I didn't do anything to him. He is safe, inside.”Ted wasn't one to speak much, but she had succeeded in making him talk longer than he always did.She seemed to relax a bit, knowing I was safe. The bubbles in the bathtub covered her from her neck down, making only her face visible.Ted was still very close to her due to the kiss. So she put her hands out gently on his chest and tried to push him bac

Lilith's POVGetting out of the bathtub, I dried my body with the white towel which was hanging on a rod, behind the bathroom door.I wasn't looking forward to dinner, even though I would be closer to Adams. Sitting alongside his brothers was worse than a nightmare as I just couldn't stand them, especially when they fought or argued over anything.I walked towards the wardrobe to pick a dress when I remembered Clara. I hadn't seen her in weeks and it made me wonder where she was.Probably she was working in the kitchen full time, since Adams had been all nosy about my business, I decided to check up on her, on my way to dinner.I smiled at his jealousy, and the way he treated and pampered me like the queen I was. He also stopped me from training with Dale, promising to train me himself. After searching for minutes without seeing anything I liked, I closed the wardrobe with force and something, tied in a black nylon fell from the top.I was about to leave the room when I heard it sound

Adams held the spoon in his hand furiously as he stared at the maid before him. I was certain different angry thoughts were running through his mind, and it was only a matter of time before he made them known.“Bring the chief maid in,” he ordered. “She has some explanations to do.”Ronan stood up immediately and went outside. He came back after some minutes, empty-handed. “I couldn't find her, in the kitchen or anywhere.Adams stood up and banged his fist on the table. “Check the servants' quarters, check everywhere. There's no way she could have gone so far.”Ronan ran outside again, and I went to help Sheila to get up. “Are you hurt? Do you feel pain anywhere?” I asked her. Adams simply stared at me for sometime before settling back on his chair.I carried her up and helped her to sit on the closest chair to me. Her hands were bruised from fallin

Adams' POVHer voice, her scent, everything about her brought calm to my raging soul.“How did you know he would listen?” I whispered into her ears, sniffing the beautiful honey scent of her hair.“I didn't know he would,” she whispered back, her sweet voice touching the deepest part of my soul. “I just did it, praying and hoping he would stop.”For the first time, I was this close to her and Ted did not behave funny. He was calmer than the sea after a storm, hardly moving within.I detached myself from her embrace and looked at the mess we had created. The chairs were broken and scattered all over the room, the table was no better than them.Food was all over the wall, and some of the men were injured.I searched for Ronan and found him bent above Sheila, his right leg pierced with a piece of broken glass. He winced in pain as he removed the broken glass from his skin, limping towards the injured guards afterward. The room which looked beautiful earlier, now resembles a litter house,

Lilith's POVOf all the time the moon chose to come out in all its glory, it was tonight.I suddenly felt a burning desire to have Adams all to myself as Lexi danced crazily inside me, threatening to come out.“Stay still,” I scolded her inwardly, but she hissed, ignoring me.It wasn't her fault, I had starved her for too long. Clinging so tightly to Adams made things worse, but there was nothing I could do.He rode so fast, one would think he was being chased by a demon. It made me wonder if he did it on purpose so that I would hold onto him tightly, and not let go.“Are you alright? Am I riding too fast?” He asked, probably noting my discomfort.I wanted to say yes, to tell him he should slow down and go at a gentler pace. But the truth was, I didn't want to let go, gosh! Just what was he doing to me?“No… I'm fine,” I whispered, regretting it afterward. He nodded, and we rode on in silence, at the same speed for a while before slowing down. “So… where are we going to?” I asked aga

Adams' POVWe sat on the sand, listening to the wind that was whispering through the night. It had been over an hour since the goddess left, yet it felt like a dream.Lilith's head was on my shoulders and my hand was wrapped around her waist. Although we didn't speak, we cherished the silence, enjoying the feeling of each other's embrace.“We should get back home, it's getting really late,” I whispered in her ears as the wind blew her hair out of place, making it rest on her mouth.I picked up the loose hair, and tucked it behind her ears. She turned to face me, her lips pouted stubbornly. “Let's stay for a little while, we may never get this chance again.“We will always have this chance, my love,” I assured her.We sat in silence for a little while, enveloped in our thoughts before she broke the silence. “I'm a little bit scared, Adams.”“Scared?” I turned to face her. “Why?”She stretched her hand and touched my face, grazing it with her fingers. “I'm scared that we may not always

Lilith's POVLooking at the scene before me, my heart skipped a million times in a second. Only if one had a death wish would he confront Ted in this furious state he was, considering the terribly vicious things he had done in the past days. But this man… he seemed so confident in himself, like he could defeat Ted. The fact that his face was concealed added a layer of mystery to his personality.A terrible wind suddenly began to blow, and fog started to seep in. The eyes of the men and their leader remained as though what was happening was a normal thing.Soon, nothing was in sight as the fog had covered it all. The trees, the men, even Ted. All I saw was myself, in my own closed space. There was no stopping him now.“You have the ability to control him, remember?” Lexi reminded me with a question.“But how? The leader of the attackers seemed to know me too well.Lilith had her bath and changed into a free, semi-transparent white nightgown, while I went in to take mine.I sank into the bathtub slowly as the cold water hit my skin, numbing my senses for a second. My eyes grew heavy as though stones were placed on them, causing me to shut them and dive into a replay of the day's memories. How long I was there I couldn't tell. My eyes shot open, however, when my memories got to the part where Lilith had been embarrassed to see me naked.I came out of the water immediately and wrapped a towel around my hips, as the water tickled down my body. When I came out of the bathroom, everywhere was dark except a small light from a corner of the room.I turned to face the light and I saw Lilith’s figure, sitting before the mirror, combing her hair, with her

As I guided my men into the Green Forest Pack’s territory, I felt the heavy crown on my head.It was a steady reminder of my responsibilities as Alpha, and King of all the Packs. My warriors were nearby, their faces tensed with anticipation, ready to battle, but the deep silence unsettled even the most seasoned of them.“What's happening?” Ronan, my Beta, whispered, looking at the trees as if they might suddenly attack us.“Be careful!” I said, looking closely at the darkening sky. “We might be walking into a trap.”Next to me, Lilith rode, her calmness a source of comfort. She looked at me, and said, “No matter what comes, we will handle it.”I nodded, feeling thankful for her bravery. We had made it too far and given up too much to stop now. Together we moved forward deeper into the Pack.By the time I stepped on the boundary, I expected trouble, but the woods were strangely quiet. I noticed my men sharing anxious

Their threats will no longer hang over my packs and I will not have to be afraid of backstabbers anymore.“We did it, Adams,” Lilith said quietly, her voice a mix of relief and surprise. She moved closer, her bright green eyes looking into mine. “It is finally done.”A huge weight lifted off my chest at her words. “Yes... it is settled.” Our eyes met and at that moment every other thing felt unimportant. I pulled her close, ignoring our friends and the signs of the battle, kissing her passionately. The salty flavor from sweat and dirt dripped down my throat, but in her presence even the bad feelings turned good. We hugged each other tightly, connecting our hearts as one, enjoying the joy of our victory, and fin

She fell onto the grassy ground, but as soon as she got back up, her anger burned even brighter.“All of you are so weak and pathetic. He was a strong and fierce wolf, fully prepared to take charge.“Do not move from that spot, Lilith!” he growled with his voice deep and rough. As he jumped into the chaos of the fight, his strong arms and legs pushed him ahead with great force.I felt a mix of emotions inside me as I had control of my body; I was proud of him for being so brave, but at the same time, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of anxiety and concern. However, I found myself unable to move from my spot. Two wolves fighting each other—a fierce and savage dance involving their sharp claws and powerful teeth. The air was filled with the wild and piercing sounds of battle cries which vibrated through the ground under our feet. I became more alert and focused with each second that passed. “Look over there!” I said excitedly, pointing my finger towards something I recognized among the group of troublemakers.“It is the Green Forest, my home pack! I can’t believe they would turn against us like this. How could they do something so hurtful?”Adams' spoke to me, “Ben has influenced their thoughts in a very negative way. He had convinced them that they would take control and gain power. He will not give up until he has succeeded in tearing us apart completely.”“Then we will demonstrate to them exactly what loyalty really mean

I looked down at the huge army of wolves that had gathered below me.Their fur was shining and sparkling, catching what little light was left in the sky as the sun started to set. It appeared as if a dark cloud was hovering over us ready to unleash terror at any point.“Just take a look at them,” I said quietly in a whisper, as my heart beat loudly in my chest. I turned to Adams, who was standing right next to me.He appeared completely unfazed by what was happening. I wanted to sound calm, but inside I felt like there was a huge storm of emotions raging.“You have decided to side with a person who is completely out of his mind. How could you make that choice? You are a brother to me. You were one of the good people in our pack!”“There is no connection between us, only the pursuit of power!” he exclaimed with anger, with his eyes narrowing in a way that showed an intense bitterness I could hardly recognize.“And you, my dear King, are blocking the path forward. You must make your choice carefully and think it through.”“Choose death instead of being a servant?” I laughed bitterly, anger burning inside me. “Do you really think I’d submit to Augustus? Tell him to stick his offer somewhere. Adams' POVI stood at the very edge of the sturdy stone wall of the fortress. The old stronghold which had been the home of my family for many generations was built with tall parapets. These walls had once been alive with the noise and excitement of battle, filled by my brave ancestors who were skilled archers ready to protect our land from any invaders. Now, however, darkness surrounded us completely and a thick silence pressed down on our group of warriors. It felt strange and unsettling as if we were all holding our breath together, both the defenders standing ready and the shadows that seemed to inch closer and closer to us.To my left was Ronan. Right now he looked very tense. His usually bright and lively eyes were narrowed, and he was carefully looking out at the land in front of us, searching for any signs of movement. All around, the generals and captains of the Bloodhound Pack were standing in a tense way, almost like tightly wound bowstrings. Their muscles were tight and pr

I then spoke to her, “Now you should go. Make your way back to the palace and make sure to stay near Adeline. I need to handle some important things on my own.”“Please be careful my dear.” Lilith's voice shook just a little bit as she looked deeply into my eyes and I could see a mix of concern and love in her expression.I nodded my head slowly, fully realizing just how much fear was reflected in Lilith's eyes.
