Chapter 81: Mistakenly breaking into the barracks

The wind whistled in my ears like a roar. I tried to ignore the terrible noise of the pursuit behind me, the horses galloping through the dark woods. Ruby's little body was protected by me. I gripped the reins, inwardly imploring the horse to go faster.

At last a bright spot, like a dot, appeared in front, and as the horse approached the origin began to grow slowly. I felt that I had hope before me, and I clung to my horse's flank at once, and dashed in the direction of the light.

"Stop!" A loud cry of warning went up from the camp, and scores of guards poured in from all quarters, all armed to check the advance of the horse. The horse, however, was out of control, and would only go on a rampage, and could not be stopped.
