I placed her over my shoulder and made a gesture for my warriors to leave the other lady.

I was shocked when she grabbed a knife from one of them and stabbed herself with it.

By the looks of it, the lady on my shoulder and that one were either sisters, friends or somewhat related.

“I think she's dead, my Lord.” Zero, my beta said as I turned to leave after looking at her pale face one last time.

Soon, we head down the city, my warriors behind me. The lady on my shoulder didn't make any sound, if not for her heartbeat, I'd think she was dead just like the lady we saw with her.

We arrived at the pack, everyone around lowered their heads in a bow immediately we stepped in.

“Greetings, my Lord.”

“You're welcome, my love.”

I heard the voices of my maids and that of my warriors who were around to watch over while I was out.

“Call me the pack doctor, immediately.” My voice roared over the pack house as I approached my chamber.

The lady's clothes were soaked with blood, and seeing it did something to my heart that I can't explain.

The moment I placed her on my bed, there was a knock on the door.

“Lord Craig, you summoned me.” That was the pack doctor.

“Yes, the door isn't locked.” I said and he immediately opened the door.

He bowed his head, and walked over to the unconscious lady on the bed. She looked pale, sick, and slim like she had been malnourished or something. I had this sudden urge to take whatever had happened to her away.

At the moment I perceived her scent in the woods, I couldn't stop myself from finding out who it was.

Zero had tried to stop me but I had insisted. It was an unfamiliar scent and I knew for sure that she wasn't from Moonlight pack.

When I finally laid my eyes on her, I was convinced she was a spy, sent by the east pack as usual… This wasn't the first time they were doing it so I had to make sure… since the war behind both packs was never ending.

“She has a fever, my Lord.” The doctor said, not daring to look up at me.

I snapped out of my thoughts and turned to take a glance at her.

Her scent was keeping me here, I found myself unable to think straight. What was it doing to me?

I need to leave. Watching the doctor do his work was driving me nuts. The thought that came to my mind was wild for me to remain here.

Without hesitating, I turned and walked out of my room, leaving the doctor and the lady without a word.

As I walked into my study, I felt another wolf's presence. Suddenly, I saw my mom walking in.

“You look pale, son. I know it's that time of the month where you have your crisis.” Elena, my mother said as she walked over to me.

“I'm fine, mum.” I said and was about to take my seat when I suddenly felt dizzy.

“Hmmm.” I groaned, trying to maintain my balance. I held onto my chair then my hands trembled.

“Craig!” She held onto me and helped me take my seat, “Let me take a look.” She said and moved my shirt up.

Worry etched on her face, “The mark is all over your back, it's slowly spreading across your shoulder… soon it will become obvious to the entire pack.”

I adjusted my clothes back to normal, “I could still make this work… I know I have time.”

Elena wiped her tears, “We don't, son… they've given you all the time in the world. It's only a matter of time before you…”

“Die?” I cut her short, standing from my seat. I never chose for this to happen.

“I'm sorry, son…”

I narrowed my eyes at her, “Is that even possible, mom? Will I pour out an heir from my mouth? I don't even have a mate.”

“Leave that to me, son… I found the perfect Luna for you. Bianca Wilson. The date has already been fixed.”
