After settling down, Sylvia brought the kids and Aunt Tonya to Madam Carter’s room. Violet and Sebastian followed as well. The spacious room got lively for the first time. They were happy that Sylvia came back. They sat down and Aunt Tonya started asking, “Syl, tell me what happened to you in the past four months!” Sylvia knew they were curious, so she briefly explained, “After I fell into the lake, one of my old friends saved me and brought me to Coastrock City to heal. When I felt better, I returned to Westchester City and contacted Sherry and Violet.” She then looked at Violet in gratitude. “I have Violet to thank for making it possible for me to come back this soon.” She omitted a lot of details in her story, such as being bedridden for a long time because of her bone fracture. It was not necessary to tell the kids or Aunt Tonya what she had been through. Violet said, “Madam, we missed you too. If it’s Ms. Avery, neither of us will have a day of peace.” “I know
The two of them almost started an argument if not for Sylvia’s intervention. She said, “I plan to have a divorce with Odell.” Sebastian was shocked, and so were Aunt Tonya and Violet. Confused, Sebastian asked, “Madam, the misunderstanding has been cleared. Why do you still want to have a divorce?” Sylvia did not answer his question. Instead she said, “Sebastian, I’ve already decided. Please look after Grandma as always.” Sebastian turned to Aunt Tonya and signaled her with a gesture to persuade Sylvia otherwise. Aunt Tonya turned a blind eye to him. Sebastian sighed helplessly. The man outside the door wore a frosty look and frowned. All of a sudden, his phone buzzed. He pulled it out and put it beside his ear. Cliff’s voice came from the phone and he said, “Sir, we’ve sent Ms. Avery back to Lake Victoria Villa. The doctor said Ms. Avery only sustained some bruises on her leg, and there was no damage to her bone or muscle. She’ll be fine after a few days.” Odell
After Isabel and Liam woke up, Sylvia brought them out of Madam Carter’s room. When they came out, they saw Odell sitting on the couch in the living room. Odell was looking at her and her at him. Sylvia immediately retracted her gaze and brought the kids to the door. The man’s gravelly voice sounded. “Where are you going?” Sylvia coldly answered, “We’re hungry. I’m bringing them out to eat.” “The kitchen already prepared a meal. Eat at home, don’t go out.” Sylvia turned a deaf ear and continued going out. Before she could step out of the door, the bodyguards got in her way. Sylvia’s gaze turned frosty and asked, “Odell, are you still trying to imprison me?” She wore the coldest expression when she mentioned the word “imprison”. Odell slightly narrowed his eyes. “That’s not what I meant.” “Then tell them to back off.” Odell got up and went over to her. He grinned and looked at her warmly. “If you don’t want to eat at home, we’ll go out to eat together.” Syl
Odell pursed his lips and went silent. Sylvia walked up to him. “Speak. Why aren’t you saying anything?” The man chose to remain silent. Sylvia sneered. “Are you still trying to imprison me to vent your emotions? The one who pushed Grandma is Melanie, Tara’s aunt. She had been taken by the police and I know there’s no one for you to lash out on, but you can’t keep doing this to me. Or you can’t bear taking it out on Tara, so you’re trying to vent your anger on me?” He simply looked at her deeply and profoundly. His reaction fueled Sylvia’s anger. She screamed, “Say something!” He moved his lips but did not speak. His frosty expression showed a sense of amusement. Sylvia was angrier than before. She grabbed him by the collar and stared into his eyes. “Stop acting crazy! If you don’t want to talk, let me out!” He curled his lips and said, “I’m not letting you out of this house. What can you possibly do?” Sylvia tightened her grip on his collar. The shrinking collar
All the terrible things that happened to her that night four months ago were being replayed in her mind. Sylvia glared into his eyes and allowed the tears to roll down her cheeks freely. “Odell, if you had just trusted me, I wouldn’t have to go through all that!” The man stared at her frosty look. Her teary eyes showed nothing but resentment for him. He instinctively raised his hand and tried to wipe the tears off her face, but before he could touch her, she slapped his hand away and shouted, “DON’T TOUCH ME!” The three words had nothing but hatred for the man. His hand froze before he retracted it. Sylvia squirmed and then said, “Get your other hand off me!” She was referring to his arm that he curled around her waist. Odell did not free her. He constricted her waist even tighter. He stared at her deeply and said in a gravelly voice, “I know I wrongly trusted Tara and I put you through hell. I’ll make it up to you. I’ll compensate you. I can give you anything except
Isabel put her puffy face against her mother’s cheek. “Mommy, why are your eyes red? Did the big baddie bully you?” Sylvia answered in a small voice, “He didn’t bully me. We just had an argument.” Isabel pouted. “Hmph! Did he argue with you? He’s not a gentleman!” Sylvia wore an awkward smile. “I’ll go scold him!” Isabel almost ran up to her father but Sylvia held her back. “Mommy is fine. He lost the argument.” “Really?” “Yeah, really,” Sylvia said with a smile. Isabel’s grumpy expression softened after seeing the smile on her mother’s face. Liam then asked, “Mommy, are we going out?” “No, I’ll play with you guys at home.” Liam nodded and Isabel hummed a reply. As long as the brother and sister could be with their mother, they did not mind the location. Sylvia was determined to get the divorce and if he refused, she had all the time to tangle with him. She put aside her other thoughts and brought the kids upstairs. Her old room was filled with the kids’
Later that night, Sylvia had dinner with the kids and then played with them again. After the two of them went to bed, Sylvia grabbed her jacket and left the room. When she walked past the living room, Odell was drinking tea on the couch. She had a glance at him and continued toward the door. “It’s late. Where are you going?” he asked. Sylvia ignored him and continued toward the door. Sherry’s car was already waiting outside the house and Sylvia spotted her as soon as she came out. “Syl, hurry up!” Sylvia smiled and got into the car. The car then drove away from the house. Shortly after the car turned into the junction, another black sports car drove out of the house and followed them. …Sherry was a great driver. Half an hour later, they arrived at a famous barbeque restaurant. Sylvia followed Sherry to a room on the second floor. When she walked in, she saw Edmund slouching on his seat, smiling at her. “Syl, it’s been a long time. Did you miss me?” He
Sylvia’s smile remained as she stood up with Sherry. It was time for her to leave now that she was full, but she had something to say to Edmund alone. She said to Sherry, “Sherry, can you wait for me outside? It will just take a few minutes.” “Okay.” Sherry grabbed the drunk Lloyd and Harry out of the room. The room became quiet with only the two of them. Edmund continued to slouch on his seat. He raised a brow at Sylvia and asked, “What do you want to talk about?” Sylvia looked at him seriously. “Edmund, I heard from Harry that your business has been declining while you were away. I have some savings here. You can use it as funds to turn your business around.” She then pulled a bank card from her purse. The card contained half of her entire savings. It might not be able to make up for his losses but it should be enough to let him turn his business around. “It’s okay.” Edmund chuckled. “Odell Carter gave me a sum of money today and it’s twice as much as what I lost.
