Before her kick could land, he caught her leg with his large hand. The warmth from the tip of his fingers burned her ankle as he caressed her. Sherry blushed. “Get your hand off my leg!” John released her ankle as told, but then he grabbed her calf next. His naughty fingers started to dance on her sensitive calf softly. The touching slowly turned into rubbing and with the right amount of strength, it felt comfortable. Sherry’s eyes flickered. John looked at her and noticed her lifted mood. “How does it feel?” Sherry turned away shyly. “It’s okay.” He smiled and continued to massage her calf. Seconds turned into minutes as the massage went on. Sherry originally wanted to tell him to stop if he was tired, but his massage was too good to stop. After a while, she fell asleep without knowing it. John then stopped. Looking at her blushing face, the man smiled. He laid her body straight so that she could sleep more comfortably. He then got out of bed, picked up some loose
Before John could come out of the room, Sherry asked Jason, “Didn’t you just drop his luggage?” Jason answered, “Yeah, but I forgot to bring the document that he asked for, so I went back for it.” “But how did you come back so fast?” Sherry thought John lived two hours away. Jason smiled, “Master Stockton’s hotel is two minutes away. It’s directly opposite this building. I don’t even need to drive.” Sherry was left speechless. Opposite the building? Two-minute walking distance? Sherry squinted. Why did John claim that a trip back to his place would take two hours last night? The scenes of him catching a cold a while ago flashed in her mind. Had the man been faking it to win her compassion? Sherry’s gaze turned cold. She turned around and wanted to confront the man. Then, she saw him standing in front of the room, smiling at her with curved eyes. His gentle smile somehow calmed her anger but she was still annoyed. She glared at him. “You said you are staying two ho
John simply smiled. Sherry pushed him away. It was then that a tiny figure entered her sight from the room. Caprice had woken up without her knowledge. The girl was in her pajamas. Her hair was messy, and she was looking at them with her big googly eyes. “Daddy, Mommy, are you two kissing?” she asked innocently and curiously. Sherry blushed. She choked upon hearing the question and then looked at John. John smiled in reply. He went to Caprice and carried the girl into his arms. “Daddy and Mommy are saying good morning to each other,” he said. “Saying good morning means kissing?” the girl asked. Sherry smirked. She was anticipating John’s made-up excuse. John smiled and then said, “You can choose to kiss or not when you say good morning. You can only kiss people that you like and cannot do it to people you are not close with. Got it?” Caprice’s eyes shimmered with interest. “Oooo.” John then looked at Sherry. She sighed a breath of relief and muttered in her hear
Sherry said, “You are now the CEO of the company, and we are working. If not Mr. Sager, what should I call you?” Carl curved his eyes. “When I wasn’t the CEO, you never called me Young Master Carl either.” Sherry gulped. “In the workplace, there’s only the superior and the employee, no Young Master Carl or whatever.” “Hmph. Fine.” He chuckled and stepped aside. Sherry continued forward, but when she walked past him, he held her wrist. She was caught off guard. He looked at her with his beautiful eyes and said softly, “Sis, if you really want to go, can you stop calling me Mr. Sager?” Sherry’s eyes flickered. “Okay.” Carl smiled and released her wrist. She then strode outside. He looked slightly disheartened. He only went to chase after her after she left the office. …Lisa’s car was waiting downstairs. As soon as Sherry walked out of the lobby, Lisa’s driver opened the door for her. Sherry went over. Lisa was waiting for her with a smile. She waved at Sherry
Lisa’s eyes teared up. “Good, good. As long as you know your way home.” She urged Sherry to take the property deeds. “Keep these.” Sherry accepted her goodwill. “Thank you, Lisa.” …The lunch went on for hours. Lisa chatted with her about many things. They only went back to the office in the evening. There were still resignation procedures that Sherry needed to be a part of, especially since she was a department manager. There was some time left before clocking out, so she went back to her department and held a small meeting with her subordinates to tell them that she was leaving. Her subordinates were all smart people, and they already expected her to leave for Glenchester sooner or later. It was the time spent together that made it difficult to see her leave. Sherry chatted with them for a long time. It was until the sky turned dark when Sherry realized it was way past time to leave office. She told her subordinates to go home without holding them back any further.
Even until the car disappeared into the traffic, the man did not show any intentions of turning away. His charming eyes teared up under the starry night. Some time later, an exasperated sigh could be heard. Lisa had been standing behind him for a while. She tapped on his shoulder and said, “Sherry said she will come to visit us often. Stop standing here. Go home and take a rest.” Everything that needed to be said had been said, thus Lisa then left the office. Carl remained standing before the window with pursed lips. After his mother left the office and shut the door, his body leaned forward against the window. He held up his hand against the window and propped his forehead against the back of his hand. Tears fell from his tightly shut eyes. …It took Sherry a full month to do a complete handover. Her last day was on a Friday. Sherry booked a table at a restaurant to treat her subordinates to a feast. Her subordinates were reluctant to see her go, but they were quite h
After dinner, Sherry and the group arrived at a club near the office. The club was the first to operate under the Sagers after she joined the company, and it continued to be the most popular one in the city. The group had fun until midnight. Many of them got drunk. Sherry waited by the roadside and saw them off before she headed to the parking lot. There were still many cars in the parking lot at this hour, but her car stood out from the rest because there was a tall and elegant figure next to it. The handsome man wore a white shirt, had a pair of golden-framed glasses and looked extra clean-cut with the combination. He held a big bouquet of roses in his hands. When Sherry spotted him, she met his bewitching smile. Her heart raced. She smiled and went over to him. “Sherry, Happy Resignation,” he said and gave her the roses. Sherry took it and said, “Thank you.” “You’re welcome.” He curled his lips and softly pinched her cheek. “What are you doing?” She glared at him.
The flight back to Glenchester was on the next morning. After breakfast, Sherry and John brought Caprice, Jason, and Aunt Wanda to the airport. When they finished checking in, Sherry carried Caprice and was walking through security with John. Suddenly, a ground staff came to her with a smile. “Hi, are you Ms. Sherry Fowler?” Sherry was slightly surprised. “Yes, I am.” The staff then handed her a small bouquet of flowers and a delicate-looking box. “Someone wanted me to hand you this. He wanted me to tell you to be happy.” Looking at the flowers and the box, Sherry was slightly stunned. Noticing her mother’s blank state, Caprice took the little box. The staff then left. Sherry looked at the flowers in her hands. It was a bunch of pink roses with a beautiful daisy in the middle. It was lovely. Caprice then opened the box out of curiosity. Her eyes blinked in awe, and her jaw dropped when she saw what was inside. Sherry looked into the box. There was a diamond neckla
