Chapter 66: Shifting Loyalties

Ashley sat at the small, rickety table in the corner of the cabin, her fingers tapping a steady rhythm against the worn wood as she stared at the map spread out before her. The lines and markings on the map had become all too familiar over the past few days, each one representing a potential ally or enemy in their battle against Adonis.

The plan was dangerous, perhaps even reckless, but it was the only option they had left. She couldn’t shake the feeling that they were walking into a trap, that Victor’s mysterious allies would turn on them the moment it suited their interests. But as much as she hated to admit it, they needed the help. Taking down Adonis required resources and manpower that they simply didn’t have on their own.

The door to the cabin creaked open, and Amelia stepped inside, her face pale and drawn. She looked exhausted, the weight of everything that had happened weighing heavily on her. Ashley’s heart ached for her sister, but there was no time for comforting words.
