“Ye-s” She forced her words out.

“Have a taste of what you just brought. I have to be sure you didn’t poison me.” She jerked her head at him, shocked by his words. This guy is something else, she thought, and she went closer to have a taste of the food and the drink.

“One rule you must abide by, you don’t leave without my consent.” I took a fork by the side of his plate, took a bite, and drank juice from his glass. She was terrified, yet ate it confidently. When she was done, she stood there waiting for him to give me orders.

She stood for over 30 minutes and he still hadn’t touched his food. She gave Damon a signal of which he noticed. He whispered something in Adonis’s ear.

“You can go,’’ he muttered, his gaze still on his phone. He ordered her to keep his gaze on his phone.

Finally, she screamed for joy inside of her, her legs screamed of freedom, and she walked away. She rushed to her allotted room to have a bath and arrange for my things. Not long after, a girl who she assumed to be her roommate barged inside the room looking so sad.

“Who are you, and what are you doing in my room?” Startled, Ashley sat over on her bed.

“I mean no harm. Ashley is the new maid.” She explained.

“I am your new roommate.”

“Ohh I see.” The girl nodded with her curious gaze, eyeing her up and down.

“Am Chloe and nice meeting you.” She flashed her smile and forwarded her hand to shake.

“Same here I muttered.” Ashley accepted and returned her gesture. She was soon summoned by Clara and had to leave. Ashley was about to lie down, but a message popped on my phone. The message was from Damon.

YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED TO THE MARKET TOMORROW, MEET ME AT OUR USUAL SPOT.

After reading the message, she deleted it. She wanted nothing that would implicate her. She lies down on my bed thinking about Amelia, hoping she is alright.

With that she slept off only to wake up when the sun shone brightly on her face, she tried opening her eyes but was prevented from the sun rays coming from the window she had to use the back of her palm to cover it up, with that she stood up from the bed turning what a blessed day she thought, but soon reality crashed over her when she remembered about Amelia.

She went to the bathroom to bathe, brush her teeth, then dress up, and then she quickly rushed to the kitchen. The Miss. Clara gave her a long list of things she was going to buy and the exact money for it. She happily accepted and left and went to the usual spot where I met Damon.

He was in his car, waiting for her, gazing at her watch repetitively.

"Your sister wants to have a word with you." His words excited her, and he brought his phone out and played a record. Her eyes lowered instantly watching him playing the already recorded clip.

‘What the hell are you doing Amy? Have you lost your mind? I want you out of this place, I don’t need you to come looking here. Let the police do their work. Don’t risk your life, go back. ’ A smile formed over pale face as soon as the yelping sound of her sister thundered out of his poor phone. She was never this happy hearing her sister yelling at her, she released her holding breath as her voice died along with her happiness.

“She was so mad, when I told her you came here.” Damon’s voice brought her back to reality. Amelia’s anger would shatter the glass but Ashley was able to find the buried concern in her screaming.

Ashley knew her life was also at stake, she was in the house of one of the dangerous men, the patrolling guards with heavy machine guns reminded her constantly but she didn’t care as long as she was able to free her sister out of this mess.

She went back to the mansion sadly, hearing her sister is not in support of  her coming here makes her so depressed. She would do anything to help her cause she was her only sister and friend. She had already started it, and there was no going back now. The piercing gaze of the Adonis already landed on her pure soul to tent soon.

Mr Grogery sat on a sofa thinking about his daughter, he had told the cops to look for her but their research was fruitless. He was so devastated, his wife hasn't been herself since the incident. She was always demanding of her daughter, asking the reason he had taken revenge on them by snatching their daughter, but Mr. Grogery had no answer to replay.

"What have I done to deserve all this?" He stood up from the sofa angrily went to take another bottle of wine till he drank himself to fall unconscious.

……….

I can't wait to leave this goddamn place, Amelia thought aloud and the door of her small prison type room cracked open as Damon came inside interrupting her thoughts and anger on her sister.

"Leave us alone” Damon commanded the guards of which they obeyed. Being the best and most trusted friend to the deadliest mafia king feels so good? She cussed in her mind while glaring at him.

He gets whatever he wants and also gives orders, he was almost equal to Adonis but Adonis was the mafia king who had more authority over anything.

"Hey, are you alright?" Damon took a small calculated step towards her, there was softness lingered everywhere from his words, in the darnest environment of the jail.

"Yes,” she answered, greeting her teeths and turning away from him, wounding him.

"Don't worry I will get you out of here very soon" With that, he turned to her, having a peck on her lips. She tried to push him, but he held her tight, peppering soft kisses all over face until her anger washed away.

“Trust me, love. I will.” She reciprocated and moments passed drenching them in sweet intoxicating air which they stole from each other. Comforting her, he turns around to leave but is interrupted by her charming voice.

"What about your friend Adonis, sorry Master Adonis?” she corrected, crossing her hands over her chest.

"Don't worry I will talk to him" that he turned away and left, duling between his friendship and the love he cherished so much.

The sun was barely peeking over the horizon when Ashley awoke, her body stiff from the restless sleep. Amelia was still curled up beside her, sleeping deeply after the harrowing events of the night before. Demon was outside, sharpening a blade, his expression hard as he prepared for the inevitable confrontation with Adonis.Ashley sat up slowly, her mind still racing with thoughts of what lay ahead. The peace they had found in the small cabin felt fragile, like a thin veil stretched over a storm waiting to break. She knew it was only a matter of time before Adonis found them—and when he did, there would be no turning back. She quietly stepped outside, the crisp morning air biting at her skin. Demon glanced up from his work but said nothing as she approached him. His silence was heavy, but it wasn’t unfriendly. It was the quiet of a man who knew the weight of the fight that lay ahead.“We don’t have much time,” he finally said, his voice low and grave. “Adonis will come for us soon.”A

The silence that followed Adonis’s departure was thick, weighted with the echoes of the battle that had just transpired. She had never held a weapon before, let alone pointed one at a man like Adonis. Her knees buckled slightly, but before she could fall, Ashley rushed forward and wrapped her arms around her sister.“It’s over,” Ashley whispered, her voice thick with emotion. She wanted to believe it, but deep down, she knew Adonis’s words carried a dangerous truth. This wasn’t over, not by a long shot.Amelia buried her face in Ashley’s shoulder, her body trembling from head to toe. “I didn’t know what else to do,” she admitted in a shaky breath. “I couldn’t let him hurt you.”“You did what

"Ashley, we have to do something! They’re going to kill each other!" Her voice trembled, but Ashley’s mind was racing too fast for words. Chapter 98: A Trap of FateThe air crackled with tension as Adonis descended the hill, his cold, dark gaze locked on Ashley. There was something terrifying in his calmness, as though he had expected this chase to end here all along. Ashley’s breath hitched, her entire body frozen in place, despite Demon’s command to run. But where would she go? The forest was vast, but Adonis was always a step ahead, always finding her no matter how far she ran. “Move!” Demon growled through gritted teeth, his gun trained on Adonis. His voice snapped Ashley out of her shock. She grabbed Amelia’s hand, pulling her sister behind her as they tried to edge farther down the incline. “Run, Ashley!” Amelia urged, her voice trembling with fear, but it was Demon who answered, his voice low and dangerous. “He won’t stop unless you face him.”Ashley swallowed hard, her heart racing as she glanced back at Adonis. He had paused midway down the hill, his piercing gaze tracking their every movement. His lips curle

The tension in the cabin thickened as the three prepared to leave. The forest outside remained eerily quiet, the early morning light casting long shadows across the trees. The cold air bit at Ashley's skin, but the chill she felt wasn’t just from the temperature. Something felt off. The uneasy silence gnawed at her nerves, every second stretching painfully thin. Amelia had stayed quiet since their conversation, her face a mask of worry. Demon moved with purpose, checking their supplies and ensuring they left no trace behind. He was methodical, calm, but there was a storm brewing behind his dark eyes. Ashley couldn’t shake her sister’s warning from earlier—trust was a fragile thing, and in their world, it could shatter in an instant. She had seen Demon’s loyalty to Adonis firsthand, but she had also seen the cracks in his resolve. He had helped them this far, yet the lingering question remained: would he continue to protect them when faced with the full force of Adonis’s wrath? The c
