Chapter Four

Tomorrow is Saturday so obviously no school. Usually I just stay at home. 

Grandpa saved money for my college and my allowance will go down if I will spend it in everyday life. They have been gone for 3 years and I have nothing to look forward to. 

Maybe I'll just look for a job because I can't spend my money for College. When I turn 18, I’ll immediately look for a job and that's one year and 4 months from now. Coming soon. 

And for my birthday again, Grandpa, Grandma and Julia are gone. So I no longer have someone to celebrate with.

Suddenly I heard a knock I was just sitting on the bed when Vescinzo's daughter Nica opened up to me. 

"Let's eat Ate Mary" She said smiling. And walk towards me.

My eyebrows furrowed when she is smiling at me. 

"I'm excited because I have plans now for us to do" As usual she giggled. I was embarrassed to accompany her downstairs. I haven't met her  Mom yet, I just hope she's okay with my presence.

"Good morning" I said while smiling at the beautiful woman who's sitting besides Sir Vescinzo. She’s the wife I guess?

I don't like her aura too meany.

And I don't think it's okay to her that I am her. First of all I am just a stranger to them and suddenly I showed up in their family.

Geez! those people are strangers then now I'm with them eating breakfast together?! 

"So you are Mary, where are your parents? Your Mom? Your Dad? Why are you here?" She continuously ask reason for me to swallowed hard. It's embarrassing. She doesn't seem to want me here.

I already have an instinct that she will not like me. There is always an antagonist in your life. 

"Ahm I don't know where my Dad is, my Mom is gone" I said in a monotone. My heart was beating too fast. I can't even concentrate with my food.

I just look down and didn't look at her. I lost my appetite.

"Ah let's eat first, let's ask later" Sir Vescinzo said suddenly, I know he's just trying to keep the conversation away. I am okay in the apartment, so why do I have to be brought here? His family doesn't even want me here.

"So who raised you?" In the middle of the meal the woman asked again. She really seems interested on my life but in another way around.

"My grandparents" I said without looking back at her.

"So you're close to your grandparents?You're lucky while me They only love their other grandchild" I turned to the person next to me — Nica. She said it sadly.

"You have parents unlike me Nica" I whispered bitterly. She's the lucky.

She has a complete Family.

When the meal was done I immediately locked up myself in the room but Nica force me to go to her room.

I want to go out but they obviously didn't allowed me to. There are many police was guarding us outside.

Added by Nica’s loudness it is as if I was punished by it. We're here in her room and she's talking all about kpop, she's talking about her idol that I don't listen to. 

What for? I am not interested. 

In the evening, I went with Nica because she want to buy food at a convenient store. I almost didn't even let her. Fortunately, Nica agreed by the police.

Besides, it seems to be early. It was still seven in the evening so many more vehicles were passing through the subdivision.

"Are they closed now?" Nica was disappointed to see the store closed. 

We were standing in front of the store. It was evening but there were lights on the side and added by a bright full moon.

"Let's just go outside the gate there's a store nearby" I stopped her as she was about to walk. We're not supposed to go far. I'm pretty sure they will not allow us to go.

Even when we were just going here they were forcedly agreed because of Nica's special skills.

"The police said we're only allowed here inside the subdivision" I said, she looked at me meaningfully. What is she planning again?

"But they didn't say that we are not allowed to go out of the subdivision" Naughty as she is I was suddenly pulled so that I could also run. The guard was not strict because we were also released immediately. 

Ugh this is so wrong Nica. You're making another trouble. I'll be the one to get a punishment because of her.

We were on the side of the road walking. My belongings in the apartment were still not delivered to me by Tita. I don't know what make her busy.

There are clothes in the room for guests but I'm just not really used to it. It's too showy.

"Oh it's still open!" She even clapped. She pulled my hand to go inside.

There were no people in the store when we entered and there was only one woman—the cashier and there was no guard. For me it's not safety.

Nica just buy a cup noddles and we were even further away. Korean food seems to be Nica obsessed off  because she still insisted to buy it even when we broke the rules. 

When we paid, we also left quickly because they might find out that we actually left the subdivision.

My forehead furrowed as a black van parked in front of us and the door in the middle suddenly opened.

And people in black and still wearing bonnets came up to us. 

"Veronica Vescinzo? Come with us" I looked at Nica in surprise while she had a worried face and looked around. 

"What do you need from her?"I asked reason why they turned their gaze at me. I held Nica's hand tightly. 

They are mysterious people and we can't see their faces because there are wearing a black bonnets.

"Don't get involved in this Miss if you don't want to get trouble" He said and suddenly Nica pulled away from me causing her to struggle.

"Wait! Who are you? What do you need from me ?!" Nica finally spoke but the men did not listen to her. 

What they're doing is kidnapping. Because of annoyance and anger, I hit them just to let Nica go. 

"What's going on ?! Hurry up there and maybe someone else will see us!" I heard a man shout in the driver's seat. 

"She's with someone boss!" 

"Just include that!" Because of panic, I had to struggle even more. So the ending they took the two of us. 

"I just need a money from your grandfather child" I heard a man say. I couldn't see anything because there was a cloth covering our eyes.

And we were even tied by the hand! I couldn't think of anything else to run away, I was nervous and scared while Nica was already crying. 

Maybe we traveled for more than an hour because of the pain in my ass. The length of time we were sitting. 

Next thing I know Nica and I are already tied up and we are in a room with nothing to use except a table and single chairs. 

"Boss shall I call him?" I heard the big man say while holding the cellphone. 

"All right, let him hear his granddaughter’s voice too so that he will definitely give it to us" I just looked at the people around us.

"Oh! Harold, how are you? Did you miss us?" He said while talking on the phone. 

"Ohw you didn't recognize my voice right away? Do you know it?" He suddenly approached Nica and put the cellphone to her ear. 

"Speak up" He command, Nica did not speak and remained silent causing it to pull her hair. 

"Don't hurt her!" I immediately said out of concern. Nica cried and the man took the phone away.

"Ten million for the life of your granddaughter Harold" The man smiled and then laughed like crazy. 

"Please help us!" I shouted causing a man to approach me and suddenly slap me. The pain is too much. I was just touched by it. I don't know what to do, will we just wait for someone to help? What about me? What if— 

"Sh*t" I didn't realize it.

"Are you all right sis?" Crying Nica said to me. I didn’t answer him and felt my wrist tracker.

I'm stupid, why did I just think of this? I thank that Jhonny bravo for giving this to me. There is no doubt when I pressed it. I'm sure they can track us. 

They should have tracked us because we have moved away from the place and those police will wonder why. 

"What is that?" Suddenly my chest throbbed when a thin man approached me. Sh*t why is this tracker glowing!

What am I gonna do?

I'm doomed.
