North felt even more mortified. She closed her eyes. “What are you chuckling about? It’s all your fault!”

Gerald remembered North’s peculiar way of walking. He then calmly and deliberately said, “North, at least take a morning off. Otherwise, everyone will figure out why you’re late.”

Glancing at the time, she realized the first class had already begun. She would definitely be late even if she rushed to the university now.

Her thighs were sore, too. She could barely walk.

Feeling despondent, she covered her face and gritted her teeth. “Fine, I’ll take the day off.”

She informed her university counselor that she would be on leave before returning upstairs to rest.

Gerald’s gentle smile instantly turned into an icy one as soon as North went upstairs. He looked at Connor. “Did you find anything?”

“Mr. Gerald, someone from the Howard family had drugged you. They’re very cunning; we couldn’t catch them.”

Gerald sneered. “Of course, it’s the Howard family.”
