Had Gerald been following her all this while?! Did that not mean that he had seen how she had thrown a tantrum at nothing and failed to kick that pebble?

Marlin knew that he should not tease North any further. Besides, there was no point in him intervening in a couple’s spat. As such, he changed the subject.

“Abraham invited you to his banquet tomorrow, right?”

North asked cautiously, “Are you going to tell me not to go, too?”

“Too?”

Marlin raised an eyebrow. He knew exactly who else could have told her not to go. “Of course not. It’s just a banquet. It’s not a big deal to attend it. I’ll get you a suitable dress.”

North snorted and said sarcastically, “Cool. Make sure it’s a gorgeous dress. After all, I’m there to look for my next husband.”

Marlin clicked his tongue but said nothing.
