43. I've Turned The Table

Charlotte’s POV

“Charlotte, my daughter….please can we talk for a moment? I have been waiting for this moment to talk to you—about everything.”

I paused in my stride and turned to stare at him. I had not been feeling well in this mansion for three days. Everything seemed uncertain, and I felt like I was being suffocated.

Particularly Luca; he was the one who made me see that staying here, with them, was the worst possible choice.

My father opened his arms wide and said, “Charlotte, my baby, can I hug you?”

I shook my head immediately. “No, why would I allow someone like you to hug me? You have not been a father to me for thirteen years, and now you’re here standing in front of me, asking for a hug? You don’t know what Miguel had done to me! You don’t know what I’ve been through—it was hell!”

Luzia came in, and she called my father, “Fabian, let her be. Just give her time to think.”

My father nodded his head and walked away with a worried look on his face.
