125. Protective dad

Kiara was quickly standing to her feet as Macaine aimed for Acadia's bassinet. Her sleepy eyes vanished in an instant and were replaced with alertness, as though she was about to grab Acadia from her place when Macaine stopped next to the bassinet.

"Mom," he called out to his mother. Inevitably, the same vigilance that his wife felt lit up in him.

Even though he had already been informed that his mother was coming to the manor and he was sure Macaine wouldn't dare do anything to his daughter, he couldn't help but feel suspicious towards her.

But Dave tried to push the feeling away. After all, Acadia was Dave's child, and the Malion's heir, Macaine, wouldn't do anything to hurt her.

"Is she sleeping?" Macaine asked instead, ignoring the subtle warning tone in her son's voice. She watched the sleeping baby intently.
