I don't make empty threats

Ariel's POV

"I should talk to her " I said to Olivia and she turned to look at me sharply.

We were seated in the lobby contemplating on what to do. 

We have less than forty eight hours to do something quick if we really want my mother alive.

Over these few days her condition has gotten pretty worse.

"What do you mean you would talk to her " Olivia retorted.

"Olivia , this is my mother we're talking about "

"Right now I don't have any major paying job"

"We're living off the small income you earn as a waitress " 

"Even if you collect one year in advance of your salary we still won't be able to pay up the bills"

"Or if I get a job today it still doesn't change a thing, we need to pay mother's hospital bills in two days!"

"Two days Olivia Two days" I whisper-yelled holding two fingers up.

"Where do we find that kind of money Olivia , where?!" I asked 

"Let's go back to your mother's brother and beg him to loan us" she suggested

"We've gone there countless of times what good has come out of it"

"We'll make him understand what position his sister is in, he has the money!!" She said .

"But he's not ready to help, we have to take the option we have now Olivia" I said.

"I love my mother Olivia, so much! And I'll do anything for her "

"Getting married to this guy is not that big of a deal"

"I know Ariel I know but we don't know this guy you're about to marry"

"He could be a mafia, or a pervert or worst a monster"

"What if getting entangled with him can ruin your life" 

"His Mother is a good woman" I replied.

"That doesn't give any form of assurance" she said.

"There should be another option , I don't want you getting hurt " she whined close to tears.

"We can take Loans " she said tears already streaming down her face.

I looked at her and smiled.

"Don't cry Olivia, I'll be fine, I have always been" I said and she nodded sniffing as she wiped her tears.

"Olivia" I called softly placing her hands on my laps and caressed it slowly.

"Right now, the only place we can get money ,like right now is from this woman"

"If I refuse to do it, we have no other options and we might end up loosing Mom"

"We don't want that to happen right" I asked and she nodded

I sniffed in deeply and wiped my tears at the corner of my eyes.

"We will be fine" Olivia said rubbing my laps and she nodded .

I turned to her and pulled her into an hug.

"Thank you for caring so much" I said.

"It's getting late already, let's head back home" I said to her and we both stood up.

"I'll see her tomorrow" I said and she nodded 

Later that night ...

9:00pm ....

Xavier's POV

I opened the door extremely tired and drowsy and with the intentions of going straight to bed.

"And where the hell are you coming from" I heard Mom's voice in the dark as she switched on the light.

"Geez" I whispered as I moved back in fear.

"What are you doing here by this time Mom, you scared me" I said walking to the living room.

"I didn't realize I have no right to be at my own son's house" she replied.

Note to self, I really need to change the keys to my house. Mom is beginning to take so much advantage of that.

"Mom, it's late already you shouldn't be here"

"Where are you coming from" she repeated.

"Work!" 

"Work ?!" She said and scoffed.

"Work and you reek of alcohol and female perfume" 

"Give me a break Mom, I'm really tired" I said sitting in the chair and spreading my legs out.

"Look Xavier , being successful at business isn't just it ..." She started and I rolled my eyes to the back of my head.

She's about to start her gospel on educating me to be responsible, accountable and blah blah.

I wasn't ready to do any of that though.

Right now , I'm in for all the fun .

I'd have any woman that's available without any strings attached and I'm comfortable with that.

Ladies don't deserve to be cared for the way mom puts it, once they notice you have developed a soft spot for them , they exploit it and I'm not ready to be exploited , not again!!.

"Mom!" I whined.

"I already told you, I'll get a woman whenever I'm ready " 

"And how many years from now is that " she asked 

"I don't know Mom, when I'm ready!'

"You know how hard your uncle is trying to get the company"

"Are you trying to disgrace me" she said almost yelling.

"I already told you, uncle Mark wouldn't do that , he supports what ever I do"

"You really are gullible huhh" she yelled 

She closed her eyes immediately and exhaled calmly , her eyes went back open and she moved closer to me.

"Well since you're wasting so much time, I took laws into my own hands"

"Because I will not let you drag our family's name in the mud"

 "I already found you a wife"

"What?!!" 

"And you will marry her!" She said with a tone of finality not giving me a word in.

"Why would you do that!!" I yelled standing up.

"Are you raising your voice at me" she questioned 

"I don't even know her" I snapped 

"Then get to know her!"

"What if she's a bad person"

"I'm very sure she's not!"

"How can you be so sure "

"I'm sorry but I just can't Mom"

"How can you set me up with a stranger"

"How can you do this to me" I grumbled

"It's already done, there's no going back" she said.

"Once I'm ready you'll meet her, she'll be working as your personal assistant too"

"You need one right?!" She asked.

"Assistant fine!, But wife no!!"

"I won't marry her"

"You wouldn't dare" she threatened.

"I'll make sure to withdraw all your benefits if you don't " she added .

"I don't need you or dad's company to survive, I have my personal income" I replied obstinately.

"You know me too well Xavier when I say all , I mean all!" She said and I knew for sure that she can do what she said.

"I'm no longer a child that you can boss around Mom" I whined frustrated seating in the chair.

"When you start behaving like a man, I'll stop bossing you around" she retorted.

"You used to be the perfect son, I don't know what changed!!"

"Since Rose left ,you started fiddling around"

"It's time you get your life together and be responsible" she said and picked up her bag.

"I don't make empty threats, don't dare me"

"You will marry her and you will be nice to her!"

" Don't try anything silly" she said finally, picked her bag and stormed off.

I exhaled deeply with my palm on my forehead.

I knew for sure this day was going to come but I had no idea it would be this early.

Right now I have no choice than to marry the person Mom found.

"Arghhhh" I growled throwing the flower vase on the center table to the other side of the room .This is all so annoying.
