Brody's POV
We walked into the house and I was really excited to finally meet Jake after two years. "I've missed you brother." He muttered and I hugged him."I've missed you too." I told him with a smile. "Your wife?" He asked, pointing to Karen as she walked towards us.I nodded. "Yes, she's my beautiful wife."Karen came and introduced herself to him. "I'm really excited that you're married to my brother."A smile plastered on my face. I was probably the happiest man in the world on my wedding day. "Thanks Jake,""It's surprising but mom's trying to set up an arranged marriage. She wants you to get married to Sarah."He chuckled and licked his lips. "I don't think Sarah would turn out to be a good wife." He replied.Sarah walked towards us with a smirk on my face. She turned to Karen and said. "I'm sorry I couldn't attend your poor wedding that was done at a backyard."Karen smiled. "It was not a poor wedding. I'm sure you can't even afford it."Brody's POVI climbed down the stairs looking for Karen, it was totally right for me to tell her how I really felt about her. Helen came towards me as I scanned through the guests for her. "Hey, you look worried." She noticed.I faked a smile trying to ease my tired face. "I'm absolutely okay." I replied, still scanning through the guests for Karen. Where was she?"Looking for someone?" Helen asked with a smirk.Scratching my cheeks, I replied. "Yeah, where's huh... Karen?"She chucked. "I knew you wanted to see her, I saw her with Sarah a few minutes ago. Where were you?" She asked."I was with Jake." I answered and noticed Sarah walking towards me."I'll leave you guys to talk." My sister murmured and went to meet my mom.Sarah looked at me with a grin on her face as she stood in front of me, folding her arms. "Are you happy that I'm getting married to your brother?" She asked. That was definitely a stupid question but I was really excited, I
Karen's POVI arrived in Los Angeles safely, I had certainly missed home. I took a taxi to my former street where Mom lived before I left them to stay in Texas. They didn't want me sharing a house with Emily but I had to. It was really surprising but I didn't know she'd be around. She beamed with joy when she saw me. I came down from the taxi and quickly paid the taxi driver. "Mom, I've missed you." I said, carrying my luggage into the house. She hugged me as soon as I dropped the luggage on the floor. "I've certainly missed you more."I wondered what happened, she was supposed to be in the reality show. "Mom, what about your reality show?" I asked. She looked at me, tears in her eyes. I suddenly wished I didn't ask her, I didn't want to see her hurt for any reason. "I lost to Jeanne, her cooking skills was excellent and the judges didn't like my food. "I'm so sorry." I apologized immediately for asking that question, I didn't know it w
Brody's POVI entered into the limousine waiting for me outside the airport. I had successfully reached Los Angeles, it seemed like a foolish idea because I didn't even bring my clothes along with me and I didn't even know where to go.My phone rang and I picked it up. "Hey man, I'm in Los Angeles right now."Jake seemed to give me a shaky laugh. "You should find a hotel and stay there tonight." He suggested.Yeah! It was a good idea. I palmed my forehead and heaved a sigh of relief. "I was wondering where I'll go."He cleared his throat nervously. "No one has to know that you're in Los Angeles, don't pick any one's call for the meantime.""Alright," I replied, feeling both satisfied and relieved. I kept my phone in my pocket and looked at the driver, he seemed to concentrate on the road and I didn't want to ask him but it was better for me to ask for directions."Huh, do you know any new restaurant around here?" I asked him.He nodded with
Karen's POVI shrugged and avoided his gaze. "I'm sorry but there's no one with that name." I said.He chuckled softly and I cleaned the chair for him to sit. He sat down and our eyes met each other again. "Aren't you Karen?" He asked. My wedding ring! I didn't want him to see it, he would definitely realize the truth. "I'm not Karen." I lied, after a brief moment of silence."What's your name?" He inquired gently.I found a newspaper on the table and quickly glanced at the headlines. "Miss Lisa has announced to the public about the reopening of schools...""My name's Lisa." I lied, picking the name from the headline. He nodded. "Do you know a hotel around here? I could just stay there for a while."I frowned. What was he looking for in Los Angeles? Why couldn't he recognize me as his wife? "There's no hotel around here." I lied."I can't go back, I'll have to look for an hotel close to this house""Okay sir." I replied gently.Frowning,
Karen's POVMom chuckled refusing to believe me. "That's not your husband, you're not a professional liar." She remarked with a grin on her face.Needed to put some distance between us, I moved towards the window. "Brody Taylor is my husband and that's the man you just met." I told her this time with seriousness on my face."Then, what's wrong?" She quickly asked.I shrugged, feeling both awful and stable. "I don't know. I'm deeply in love with him but I don't know if he feels that way."Turning to look at her, she arched an eyebrow in surprise. "What?""I don't know if he loves me.""He won't be here in Los Angeles if he doesn't love you." She reminded me."And what if he's just here to cancel the expired contract and finally divorce me."She stood looking aghast. "I don't think he wants to do so. If you're in love with him, you'll tell him the truth."I narrowed my eyes at her. Brody would get angry for lying to him if I told him the truth. "It'
Karen's POVMom walked into the kitchen as I neatly arranged the plates on the cupboard. "Good morning, mom." I politely greeted her. Brody was really lucky that my mom did not behave like his mom."How was your night?" She asked and I suddenly remembered that I slept in Brody's room because of fear of the cockroaches in my room."It was annoying. Brody was annoying." I retorted and her eyes widened. "It's not what you think, I can't do such a thing." I continued.Did my mom think I'll have sex with him easily. "Are you sure?" She asked again and I chuckled."Mom," I called out with a soft voice. "Believe me, I and Brody have not...." I paused when I remembered that we might have had sex when he took me to that party."Aren't you going to complete your sentence?" She suddenly asked, jerking me back to reality."I'll rather not complete it."Mom sighed. "Mom, I totally forgot about what you asked me to do yesterday."She smiled at me. "That would be t
Karen's POV"Tell him about what?" I almost shouted forgetting that he was in the parlor. "What should I tell him? I can't possibly tell him the truth, I can't.""What truth?" A voice asked from behind me and I turned back to see Brody right behind me."Brody, you didn't tell me you were behind me." I murmured trying to fake a smile even though I was shocked. I silently hoped he didn't hear what I was telling my mom."What truth? Are you hiding something from me?" He asked.I stepped back a little trying to explain or probably trying to lie to him. "You won't understand."I stole a glance at my mom, her face was blank without an expression. She walked out of the kitchen as soon as she noticed me turn in her direction."Look, I'm not hiding anything from you... It's just...."He cut in angrily. "Just what? What is it that you can't tell me?""My relationship, I'm having issues with my boyfriend, my mom suggested to me about telling you about my proble
Karen's POV"Are you going to take a taxi or a bus?" He asked me as we reached the main road where Cars could drive freely."I don't think that should be your business." I answered rudely as I stopped a bus. I smiled at Mr Smith as I swipe my bus pass."It's been long since I saw you." He said as I shuffled towards the back of the bus with Brody who just stared blankly at us.I smiled cheekily. "I just came back to Los Angeles yesterday, I'm sorry you haven't seen me for a long time." I replied as I took a seat in the back. Brody hesitated at first, he didn't want to stay far from me so he s
