Brody's POV
Mom turned to look at me and my heart raced. "Huh, she's my girlfriend." I muttered. She frowned at me and I walked to the dining table. "You can't possibly date a poor girl." She said and I looked at Karen, tears welled up in her eyes. I suddenly pitied her, I didn't prep her before she signed the contract that my mom would be coming to the house."She's the woman I love and that's what matters." I replied."I won't let you make her your girlfriend." "That's not your decision to make.""Your father won't let ....."I interrupted, angrily. "He doesn't care about me and I don't give a fuck what he does with himself." She sighed and climbed the stairs. By the look on her eyes, I could tell she was very angry. Looking at Diego, I asked him to go to his room and moved towards Karen. "I'm really sorry." I apologized to her gently."You should be sorry, you brought me into this mess.""Well, you needed the money and you didn't bBrody's POVThe atmosphere suddenly seemed boring and my mother climbed down from the stairs already dressed up in a long red gown for the party. "You look ravishing, mom." I commented."Thanks, you should probably get ready for the party too. The guests would be here soon."I smiled at her. "You don't have to be so anxious, I'll certainly dress up early for the party.""Did you see the makeup artist I brought for Karen?" She asked.I nodded. "I'm sure Karen would look fantastic." I told her with a smile. I was trying to make her happy and also like Karen. I just didn't understand why she disliked her"You might be right but her poverty has covered her beauty." She murmured.I became offended at her scolding words. "You don't have to insult her, she's also a human like you.""I never said she was an alien." Mom retorted."Mom, I don't…."She interrupted and aggressively whispered to me. "I don't like that girl."
Karen's POVI walked into the ballroom and caught my breath. Crystal chandeliers spiraled down from the arching sky-blue ceiling, illuminating the glimmering golden walls. I looked at the guests, they all wore sparkling and new dresses. In the sky, the moon provided lightning in the house.I found my way through the crowds of drunk people and champagne-bearing waiters. A girl pushed into me, grinding, forcing me into dancing. My voice pushed out into her ear, low but firm, "Get off me, bitch."Almost everyone was drunk and you with a few people in corners, either talking or making out. I stood idle, by the door for a few minutes listening to the lyrics of the music. The night was alive, the air was so thick with lights and smoke but the roar of the crowd and music that thrummed straight into my eardrums
Karen's POVThe icy water shook my system as I plunged beneath the surface of the water. My heart raced and my chest tightened as the water brushed against my lips and invaded my nose.I let out a deep breath to blow the water out, my chest was on fire and I needed to breathe. I began to sink lower in the pool, with water rushing into my nose and mouth, the water snugged in around me again as I sank.I couldn't just breathe, my chest still felt like it was in fire. I forced my arms and legs to move and I popped my head up above the water. I took a deep breath as the water closed in around me, the water embracing me and pulling me deeper as I watched a few bubbles of air escape m
Karen's POVAfter the guests left, I became scared to go into the house for dinner with Brody's family. I was scared that I would say something that would make them suspect me."Hey Karen."Turning back, I found Helen with a bottle of beer. I quickly ran towards her and snatched the bottle from her hand, swinging it into a corner. "What are you doing? Don't get drunk." I told her.She chuckled. "I'm not getting drunk," She replied and raised an eyebrow. "And what are you doing outside here when the party's over?" She asked.
Karen's POVWalking into Bill's office, I regretted my actions immediately. I didn't inform Brody before leaving the house in the morning and I didn't want him to get offended."How are you doing, Karen?" Bill asked with a smile.I pulled out a chair and sat down comfortably. "I'm glad you asked because I'm not doing alright."He raised an eyebrow in surprise. "How is that even possible? You live in a castle and you're the princess."I chuckled. "Well, I wish that was it but it's not, it's just like Brody's mom doesn't like me." I said."It's a contract, you should not care if she likes you or not." He replied and I turned my gaze to the bright light outside and shrugged. He was definitely right! It was a fucking contract and I needed to fucking fake everything."Maybe," I said reluctantly. "It looks real though, Brody and I danced yesterday." I told him.He frowned and scratched his eyebrow. "About that, you were not supposed to get intimate with him."
Brody's POV"That was wonderful. I laughed when I saw Greg's face, he was also shocked." I told her as we walked into the house."Basketball was my favourite highschool game, I played it with passion.""Surprisingly, I also loved basketball." I said. She chuckled and looked at me with a smirk. "You missed a shot." She reminded me."Yeah, I was distracted.""By what?" She quickly inquired.I shrugged and Helen came out of the kitchen. "Just in time." She muttered and hugged Karen."I've missed you." Karen replied and I sat down on the sofa, looking at the two ladies."We're traveling to Los Angeles tomorrow." She said and screamed.I blinked my eyes in confusion. "I wasn't informed about it."A grin plastered on her face. "It's for ladies," she replied and turned to Karen. "I can't wait to get to Los Angeles. It's a carnival and hot guys are going to be in the house. It's fun because you can pick any guy to be with." She said and my eyes w
Karen's POVThe flight to Los Angeles was successful and before I knew it, we were in a taxi. "It's actually my first time in a plane." I told Helen and she suppressed a smile."We should have used a private jet, mom is going to be annoyed if she finds out that we took a plate."I chuckled and looked at the tall and beautiful buildings of Los Angeles. "This place is damn cute, my father works here as a driver." I said and immediately regretted telling her."A driver?" She asked loudly and I became embarrassed. The taxi driver turned back to look at me before paying attention to the road."Huh, he works for a wealthy company."Looking at Helen, she smiled and squeezed my hands gently. "Don't say anything about your family in public." She whispered to me, making sure that the driver didn't hear.I nodded with a smile and began thinking of Brody, I wondered why I was already missing him. That dance! It was so perfect. I was like Cinderella and he was a
Brody's POVI dropped the laptop on her lap angrily. "Why would you fix that in their room?" I asked angrily. She frowned and looked at Diego. "Go to your room, I have something very important to discuss with my son." She told him and he quickly ran into that room and locked the door."This is nonsense, Mom. Karen would never do anything to hurt me and you should know that.""I don't trust her, I'm only doing what's right for you and I really deserve some accolades and not insults." She replied."So how is this right?" I asked, folding my arms. I wanted her to tell me that she was doing the right thing and also prove her point. She tutted in disbelief. "I can't believe that you're arguing with me because of a mere girl.""Mom, you're spying on their privacy." I reminded her.It wasn't right, she should not have sent her to Los Angeles. "I'm doing this for you.""I didn't ask you to do anything for me." I snapped.Patricia walked down the sta
