118. Bringing her back

Vincenzo's POV

The manager gave us a private room as requested.

In the private room, we finally had the space and time to open up to each other. I couldn't contain the flood of questions and emotions that had been bottled up for so long.

"Where were you, Rose?" I asked her.

"I was waiting for you, Enzo," she replied in her trembling voice.

"I searched for you everywhere. But I couldn't find you," I told her. "I came back after the vacation, but you were not there, and your home was gone too."

"That's because it was demolished so that the one who was behind our accident could remove all the evidence," she revealed.

Her words hit me like a punch to the gut. I knew all too well who was behind that accident—my own parents. It was a bitter truth that I had been carrying in my heart all these years. I stayed silent at the moment because I knew I would lose her before even getting her back into my life if I told her the truth. I wanted to hear her first.
