“We can’t talk here, come with me.” He said as he stretched out his hand to lift me off the ground. I had no idea if it was the way he talked or the aura around him but I know I absentmindedly placed my hand in his and let him lift me off the floor. Getting into a car with a total stranger was something I didn’t ever see myself doing but for some reason, I got into his car with him and his driver drove away from the club. He didn’t say a single word to me, no matter how many times I asked who he was and what he wanted with me, he just kept staring out the window and tapping his fingers on his thighs gingerly as if he was worried about something. As soon as we drove past a large black gate and what was a beautiful, private park, a breathtaking mansion came into view. The whole place was bathed in ethereal lights and even the fountain gave off some kind of glow that didn’t feel real. Was I dreaming? “Follow me.” The elderly man who had now introduced himself as Paul said as he alighted from the car and I did the same after him. Why was I doing what he asked? I shouldn’t trust someone I had just met enough to follow him into a mansion like this. I stopped at the foot of the stairs that led up to the building and he must have noticed my hesitation because he turned around and smiled at me, “We won’t hurt you Ivy, we just need you to do something for us. It’s just a job that you need and you will be paid well for it, we both know you need the money for your mother.” My eyes widened in shock, “How do you know about my mother?” “All your questions would be answered inside Ivy. Just come.” He responded before he turned back around and headed inside. I hesitated for a second or two but then, I was curious to know who he was and know he knew so much about me already so I followed after him and the interior of the mansion was so much better than the exterior part of it. I had never laid my eyes on anything more… “This way.” Paul’s voice cut off my train of thought as he walked into a room and I had to put aside my admiration for the house and follow after him. As soon as I walked in, my eyes landed on a middle-aged woman with golden hair and dressed in the most expensive clothing, standing close to the window with her back to us while Paul was now standing beside a strange man with brown hair, dressed somewhat like him with a few strands of white hair on his head. I immediately noticed the tattoo on the back of his palm. “See, I told you this could work, she looks just like her, and by the time she wears her clothes, no one other than us will ever know it’s not Iris,” Paul said. “I don’t think this is a good idea brother. Alejandro didn’t earn the title of a serpent by being so easily deceived.” The strange man beside him replied, his eyes fixed on me. “Trust me, just trust me, and let me handle this.” The woman at the window had still not turned around even as Paul beckoned for me to come closer to them and take a seat at the table in the room. As soon as I was seated, he pulled out a picture from his pocket and placed it on the table for me to see. I cocked my head sideways as I stared at the picture in disbelief, my splitting image staring right back at me but clothed in a dress I had never owned before and jewelry I had never seen in my entire life. “T-This is me… how did you get this?” I asked, peering even harder at the picture with my brows furrowed, “But… how… I don’t remember taking any picture like this before or…” I stumbled over my own words. “Who are you and what is going on here?” I pushed back my seat and jumped to my feet in panic. Paul and the strange man beside him shared a glance before he turned to face me. “Calm down Ivy, the girl in the picture is not you, you’re two entirely different people. She is Iris Silver, an heiress of the Silver empire and you’re Ivy.” He explained and that only made it sound even more confusing. “What does that mean? She looks just like me…” “No Ivy, you… look like her and that’s what we need you for.” “Is she… is she like a relative or something? Am I related to…” “Trust me Ivy, you’re both not related in any way, I have the results of several DNA tests to prove it.” “How did you do that? She can't look exactly like me in this manner, it’s just not possible.” My voice was now becoming a bit higher than intended because I was now panicking and had no idea what I was supposed to make of what was going on. “You’re her doppelgänger,” a firm voice cut into the discussion and I turned in time to see the woman at the window who had been silent all along, turn around to face us, “how difficult can that be? As much as it is difficult for me to believe that someone like you looks like my precious daughter, we still need you.” She sighed heavily before she continued, “Where exactly did you find this lowlife Paul? I doubt she would be able to fill Iris's shoes.” She added as she stared at me in disdain. “Just let me handle this,” Paul said as he reached out to hold my shoulder, “I know this is too much for you to handle Ivy but we don’t have the luxury of time. Iris, my niece, was set to marry Alejandro Leone and she went missing a few days ago.” “What does that have to do with me?” I asked, glancing around in confusion and panic. “We need someone to marry Alejandro in her place, just for the meantime until she returns.” “What?!” “Just listen to me, we need this marriage to go through and your mother needs her medication. As soon as you agree and sign these papers, all your mother’s hospital bills will be paid and she will be placed in the VIP ward so she can have access to the best treatment money can buy.” “I…I…” I had no idea what to say or think, especially now that he had mentioned the hospital bills. “You know you can’t possibly come up with the money and her health is deteriorating fast, think before you give me a reply Ivy.” Paul probed further. I was speechless as I stood there in front of these three strange people. How did I end up here? “H-How can I trust you?” “Just sign the papers and the part payment of the money you’ll be paid for this job will be deposited into your account. And as for the hospital, I’ll ask them to call you to confirm that every single bill has been settled and your mother has been upgraded.” Paul said. “The clock is ticking.” The woman stated with a frown on her face. I stared at their faces, my heart racing beyond control because I could tell there was something not right about this. But there was no denying the fact that Paul was right, I had just lost the highest-paying job and even if I didn’t, there was no way I could ever raise that money in time for her to get better. I can’t let Mom die because I was too scared to take an opportunity. What could be the worst that could happen in just getting married to someone in place of their daughter? They look rich so they should be able to find her as soon as possible so she can return to take her place and I’ll just walk away with the money. It didn’t sound bad in my mind even though I was ignoring the alarm bells going off in my head. “Six million dollars, as the initial deposit now and the remaining three after the job is done.” Paul highlighted and that was the last thing I needed to hear. “And if I ever want to back down?” I inquired my thoughts all over the place. “For your sake, I hope it never comes to that.” The strange man said as he handed over a pen to me, “Your time is up, sign now or the deal is off.” I could barely think straight. I was so nervous that my palms were so sweaty and trembling lightly but I still managed to hold down the tip of the pen and scribble my signature where I needed to. “Good. Now, you meet Alejandro.” Paul said, his eyes lit up with some sort of look that got me worried. Did I make the right choice? Who was this Alejandro? My phone buzzed in my pocket and as soon as I pulled it out, the notification of the money that had just dropped in my account popped up. My mouth hung open in shock. Six million dollars!!! Who were these people and how the hell did they figure out everything about me so easily?IVY“Don’t forget, you’re now Iris Silver and you have been raised in wealth your entire life, do not for any reason reveal anything about your life to him, and remember everything I’ve taught you,” Paul said as we pulled up in front of a beach house. The last two days, I had been taught everything about Iris Silver and trained to dress and act exactly like her. The emerald green dress clung to my body and I looked so much different than before, like a true heiress that there were no traces left of the girl I once was.Everything, down to my cell phone had been wiped clean and I now had a new identity.“You’re Iris Silver and you must embody her through and through, one little mistake and everything goes sideways, do you understand?” Paul asked as he led me into the beach house and I nodded. He was intentionally holding back the details of what was going on. When I asked what was happening, he simply replied that I was aware of what I needed to know and not aware of what I didn’t need
IVY My heart felt heavy. I was struggling to breathe because of the thick tension in the car. He hadn’t glanced my way since we entered the car and I dared not glance back not after what I had seen earlier. He killed those men in front of me like it was nothing. I didn’t fail to notice the satisfied look in his eyes. I’ve never seen anyone so comfortable killing nor have I ever witnessed seeing anyone being killed. He hasn’t said a word to me and while I preferred it that way, I was heavily disturbed. After what felt like forever, the car came to a stop. I hadn’t realized because I had slowly zoned out, thinking about my life. My blindfold were removed as he made sure i was blindfolded as the car began to drive. i ooked outside to see where it was that I was. It was a mansion. Before I could comprehend further, Alejandro was standing outside of the car. He opened the door and in a stern tone he said, “Get out.” Without hesitation, I got out of the car, my hands shaky a little
NOTE: DUO POV IVY “The Black serpent?” I uttered the name that sounded so familiar. I have heard it before but I couldn’t recall where and why the name made me shiver. “I didn’t say anything to you. Please save me by refraining from doing anything that would cost my life,” she said pleadingly and I could tell from her tone that she was scared. She didn’t see as bad as I thought she would. Could that be why she asked the other maid to leave? Could she be here against her wish? “He…” She cuts me off. “It would do you more good than harm if you do as told. At the end of the day, the Silver family is nowhere as powerful as the Leone family.” With that said, the maid left the room leaving me alone. I crumbled on the floor in fear. “What have… I don’t to deserve it?” If they had told me this was how it was going to be then I would have refused it no matter how desperate I was for the money. This life I had chosen was worse than hell, I didn’t need to stay in here for more
IVY "My life is hell!" That wouldn't be the right way to describe it because it was worse than hell. Two weeks in this mansion without seeing the outside world. Two weeks of feeling suffocated and wanting to die. Two weeks of not doing anything I want to do and being treated like a puppet. After I was finished crying, I sat on the bed while hugging my knees. I was close to losing my sanity. I hopped off the bed in need to take a stroll even around the mansion to be sane because I was close to losing it. As soon as I came out of the room, the guards standing outside of my room stared at me with a questioning facial expression. "You can come alone. I just want to stretch my leg," I said to them. One of them nodded their head in denial. "I'm not running away, I just need to stretch my legs. I've been indoors all day," I pleaded before taking the bold step to walk away. The men followed from behind me. The closer I got to the stairs, the more I heard noises. I wondered
IVY “What do you mean by you want to help him? What do you think this is?” The man questioned, a scowl masked on his face. “I… I can help him,” I said to him once again, my eyes fixated on Alejandro’s bleeding arms. “He will die if something isn’t done to his arms and I don’t know how long it will take for help to come,” I added, boldly looking into the eyes of the man who was holding Alejandro. “If you make any mistake or do anything stupid, I promise that I will kill you myself so now I need you to tell me if you are certain that you can do something to stop the bleeding?” He questioned sternly. I gulped the lump in my throat before answering, “I can.” He stared at me for some seconds as if contemplating if he should give me the chance or not. “Alright, follow me.” He said before placing Alejandro on the couch for me to attend to him. Judging from the look of the injury, it was evident he got shot. “Do you have any medical equipment? Like anything I can use?” “E
ALEJANDRO I struggled to get out of the pressing and suffocating state that I was in because someone was pressing me inside the water so that I wouldn’t be able to escape and eventually die. I tried to swim, to move my body, to bring my face to the surface so I could breathe but I was unable to. He was far stronger than I am but that was expected for an eleven-year-old boy. I have never been so scared of water. I couldn't open my mouth to scream or I might end up swallowing some water, getting choked by it, and end up passing out. I couldn’t breathe. Could this be the end? I was slowly losing consciousness. My heart was hammering in my chest as fear gripped me of the sad reality that was about to kick in. Slowly my eyes blurred. I didn’t want to die. I was only eleven and I didn’t deserve to die. “Someone… save me..” those were my last words before I succumbed to darkness. I woke up panting in fear with sweats on my forehead. I heaved a sigh of relief when I realized
ALEJANDRO “I want every detail about Salmon brought before me as soon as possible and I don’t care how you do it but I need it. I will make it pay!” I stated firmly to my men all gathered in our meeting room. “They will pay for whatever they did and this injury on my arms is witness to what I will do to them.” “I was able to find their hideout but there’s something more shocking,” Enzo said, piquing my curiosity. “What is it?” I questioned. “Salmon seems to be working with some of our ex-client and that’s not all. He has some business with Black and Black works with the Silvers,” he revealed. “What?” I was surprised to hear that. “I don’t know if the Silvers know of Black's involvement with Salmon because they haven’t been in touch with him and they seem to be working with someone else judging from what I have discovered,” he explained. I bit my inner cheek. The story doesn’t add up though. Salmon had a business with Black and Black had business with the Silvers which means
THIRD PERSON POV As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting an amber glow over the clearing, the sound of thundering rooters grew louder. The helicopter, a sleek black beast with gleaming silver blades, sliced through the air creating a whirlwind of dust and leaves below. Written on the helicopter was the name “Silver.” Indicating that it was theirs. The helicopter landed on the vast empty field behind the Silvers mansion, Paul Silver waited at a distance. Mr and Mrs silver came out of the mansion and headed towards the field to welcome their daughter, the real Iris Silver. Iris Silver stepped out of the helicopter with a dark-haired man by herself, holding her hand and guiding her step. The man was about six feet four tall with big muscles and beards all over his face. On his arms were tattoos. Iris Silver was dressed in a yellow sun dress that was perfect to cover the condition that she was in with her hair packed in a loose bun. “Uncle Paul,” Iris said when she came
IVYWe were currently in a restaurant in the city to have something to eat after we left the skating rink. It was so much fun. I wasn't able to get it but I knew that I would sooner or later. Tonight was perfect. The way he looked at me, the way I looked at him. The way he spoke to me too. The way we laughed and how our hands brushed one another. It was too good that I had forgotten who I was pretending to be and enjoying myself. I was enjoying myself as Ivy, not Iris. At first, I felt bad but I told myself that it wouldn't be bad for me to let myself enjoy the moment after all I didn't have to suffer all the time. "So what would you like to have?" He asked."I'm not sure yet. I'm still looking at the menu. I'm a little confused about what to have though. I'm thinking. A lobster thermidor wouldn't be a bad idea.""Alright then. I will have anything that you want to have. Tonight is all about you." I felt my cheek flush when he said that. I love how he has been speaking to me all n
IVYI've never gone ice skating before. I don't know how to skate or do anything. I've never had the privilege to learn and do most things people would do as teenagers so when Alejandro mentioned it, I had to go search on it to watch the video and see how they do it.I might not be able to learn it through the videos but I might have ideas on how to do it. I stared at myself in the standing mirror once again to see if my outfit was good. I was dressed in A yellow long-sleeved A-shaped dress with long black tights under. I wanted to wear jeans but I didn't have much with me because the clothes that were in the wardrobe were all gotten by Alejandro's for Iris Silver and most of them were in the colour yellow.Iris Silver hates the color yellow so I was told by Paul Silver but somehow most of the dresses for her were in the colour yellow. I didn't dislike the color. It was part of my favorite color so if Alejandro had gotten it to piss her off, then he didn't win because sadlyIt's not
ALEJANDRO"She didn't like it. Are you certain that she loves dogs? Cougar to be precise?" I looked at Matteo, waiting for his response because if for like a terrible person for making it seem like I wanted her to get bitten by the dog."Iris Silver loves dogs. I can find pictures of her with her dog for you. Maybe she's still angry with what happened and why do you seem so worked up?" Matteo asked.I glared at him instead. I disliked how he could be asking questions like he was interrogating me. "She was afraid of the dog. She didn't want it close and said she doesn't want one and she doesn't like animals." I explained."Or maybe she was afraid of you. You dumped the cake in her face anyway. The dog doesn't look like it could bite anyone," Matteo said in his defense making me want to punch him hard on his face."Don't test me," I warned. "So what will you do now? Keep pushing or just go with your other plans? It seems this path you are taking is bound to fail, you don't seem like
IVY"Iris.” “Iris. Are you listening to me?” I snapped back to reality when Maggie tapped me lightly on my arms. I heard her calling my name but was too lost in my own world to reply her. "Are you alright?" She asked, looking worried."Yes." I lied."Are you sure? You didn't seem like you were listening to me. Did you hear any of the words I said?"I mentally sighed. I had zoned out when I started thinking about my mother. I had a dream that she died and it terrified me. I woke up in the middle of the night with fear in my heart and was unable to sleep till now.I texted Paul Silver earlier asking if we could speak but he hasn't replied and for some reason, I felt that he saw the message and chose to ignore it because he was always active whenever he wanted to remind me of my job. I was worried. If after all that I do, I end up losing her, I'd hate myself more. "Do you want to talk about it?" She asked.A drop of tears slipped down my cheek and I quickly wiped it, not wanting Mag
ALEJANDRO"So handsome, where will you be taking me to?" She asked, pulling my tie around my neck, her lips making a noisy and irking sound from the way she chewed her gum. “We will see about that,” I replied, looking away from her and looking around to see if Matteo was coming with the car already. After settling the payments with the accountant, Angela was given to me to take away. She was now clad in a sleeveless short dress, no longer just in her tiny panties. She was being all touchy but I wasn’t moved by her movements. I am that guy that could never fall for any women’s seduction unless I needed a release and fucked her but sadly there was one person who was succeeding and funny enough she wasn’t doing much which made me wonder if it was because she was using another method.Iris wasn’t trying so hard as Angela beside me. Angela had touched me and if I hadn’t moved a little from her, she would have grabbed my balls and publicly give me a hand Job and that’s if I wanted it.“Y
ALEJANDROThe one who said you can lie to everyone but yourself was correct because I was lying to everyone and I knew I was also lying to myself.I hadn't gotten myself since that night I shoved the cake on Iris face and shouted at her. I should be calm about it but I just couldn't hear it over me and it's been three fucking days. The last time I saw her, the next morning after what I did, she ran away as if she didn't want to see me. I had so many questions because of it. Why did she run away? She's a Silver and if she knew what she did then she should have acted fine but somehow it felt like she was affected or maybe I was reading too much into it.I sighed deeply feeling like I've fucked up real bad. It's been three days yet she has been on my mind although I've been away from the city working."They should show up in no time," Matteo informed me.We were currently away from the city, in a club for strippers and horny men but it was also more than that. Every night, from the detai
ALEJANDROI was fuming. How dare she? Who asked her? Who does she think she is? I was having a great day until I came home to see Iris with a cake in her hand, looking all happy and wishing me a happy birthday, one I hadn't celebrated in years. The last time I celebrated my birthday was when I turned eleven and that was the day I was kidnapped by her fucking family and almost lost my life."I think she did it intentionally just to trigger me."I packed around, my hand on my waist."She wanted to get a reaction from me. It's all a part of their plan because why would she suddenly think baking a cake and wishing me a happy birthday was a good thing? Paul Silver asked her to do that. I'm certain he's the one who told her to do this.""Are they trying to remind me of the past? Of the year that I was helpless? The year that I lost my happiness?" I mentioned. My eleventh birthday became a trigger for me after I got kidnapped and almost lost my life. That memory left marks for me that were
ALEJANDRO“If that is so, keep Camilla as far as possible from this place. I made a mistake letting her come around,” I informed Matteo.“But how is it possible that Iris left the house and neither of us knew? Camilla swore that she was ready to fight her at the supermarket,” Mattero remarked.“And knowing Camilla, she isn’t one to just speak without facts.” He added. That was what I found confusing because Iris had barely left the house since I brought her and there was no CCTV footage of her leaving. The day Camilla claimed to have seen Iris, she was in the house all through. “You know what? Leave that to me to handle. I will pay more attention to her and as for Camilla, make sure she never comes here. My uncle asked to see me today,” I informed me.“When did he say he arrived matter asked.“I didn’t ask. It’s none of my business but what I find suspicious is why he’s suddenly around. I have to keep my guard up again. Make sure that you follow up on this matter and also I need to
THIRD PERSON POV"Where were you?" Iris asked Marco, her fiancée as he stepped into her room in her parent's mansion.Marco wasn't having a good day not after Alejandro had walked out on him as he pleased fueling his hatred towards him. "I was out." He replied, taking off his jacket."You don't seem to be in a good mood," she walked closer to him. "What is the reason?""Can you give me some seconds to keep myself calm?" He asked and she did as told, taking a step away from him so that he could get the calmness that he wanted."I went out today," she informed him."To do what?" He asked and then it dawned on him."You went out? Why did you go out? What if you were seen? What were you thinking leaving the house all by yourself or have you forgotten that you aren't meant to be seen?" Marco chided. He wanted to say a lot more but he was careful of his words because she was Iris Silver, the daughter of one of the most powerful mafia families and someone he needed by his side to get what h
