Chapter Seven

Lyla’s POV.

Seeing Bailey was a burst of emotions; after the wedding drama, Jace didn't let me leave the house because of the tension from the media and people; he was protecting me from the eyes of people. I Still had trauma from the accident but was on pills to stop the pain and anxiety. My sister hugged me tightly and I felt her tears drop on my shirt; she was filled with emotions because the news of my death got to her before I got the chance to tell her that I was alive. Her eyes were filled with both happiness and pity.

“I am so glad you are alive. I don't know what I would have done if anything had happened to you.

“I am fine, Bailey; nothing happened to me. I was involved in the accident, though I was unhurt.

“That bastard and that witch need to pay for everything they did to you. I cannot believe Becky would do this to you after all you have done for her. The worst of it all is Chad. You practically built that company for him, and he transferred your shares to Becky like that? Common sis, you need to sue him and get back your voting rights in the company; you cannot just let it go like that. You have worked too hard for it; you grew that company from scratch.

“Let it go, Bailey. I'm just trying to get my life back together; all of that is behind me now. All I just need is for the tension to die down so I can live my normal life.

“Speaking about normal life.” Bailey leaned towards me and whispered in a gossipy tone. “What the hell is going on with you and this fine-ass dude? You posted about getting married to him; I don't understand any of it. Was your phone hacked? Why are you in his mansion? Isn't he Chad’s competitor?

“Slow down with the questions, Bailey, one question at a time.

“Well, then say something.!” She barked, her voice filling the room and she turned around to make sure no one was watching us.

“Yes, we are married.”

“What? So the news was true! How is that even possible? I was with you at the hospital that day you found out about the paternity of Becky’s child and you didn't say anything.

“It is a long story, Bailey, but Jace has been on his best behaviour ever since I got here. He is barely around, though, but this marriage has caused a lot of trouble for me; his family does not even want to see me eye to eye.

“I know how all of these things work; they will hate you forever. What is Jace doing about it? Do you guys sleep in separate rooms? Have you guys kissed? Did you guys make out already?

A sheepish smirk escaped my face when Bailey asked me those questions because it took me back to the memory of that night; the kiss was magical, and as soon as we started, there was no stopping.

Rather, we progressed further by touching and smooshing, his touches were gentle and intentional; I had never been touched by a man like that before. Chad was the first and only man I ever made out with. He met me as a virgin, and up until we got married, I never looked at another man, but I was sex-starved in my marriage, even though we were looking for a child, Chad barely touched me; he came back late and most of the time slept out, lying that he was working late at night. I stayed for months without a kiss or a touch until the shocking revelation at the hospital, and what pained me more was that while I was sex-starved in the marriage with Chad, he was busy pleasing another woman, and worse of it all, my best friend. When the kiss was intense, Jace lifted me and took me to the bed, where he took off my clothes but I was shy.

“You do not have to be shy; you are all mine now.’’ He continued kissing and caressing me and I was over the moon and the soft moaning that I was holding up for too long escaped from my lips. Jace touched every part of my body and for the first time in my life, I felt like a woman and I gasped for air when he filled my vulva with his shaft. It filled every part of me and he thrust calmly.

I was about to reminisce about the part where I had an orgasm and vibrated on Jace but Bailey snapped her fingers in my face and brought me back to reality.

“What the hell were you thinking about? You have been lost in space for the longest. What are you thinking about? Was the sex that good?

“What? No! I wasn't thinking about it!

“But I saw you biting your lips and you were lost in your thoughts.

“That was nothing. Anyway, what is the news on the blog? What is the situation on the ground? I cannot bring myself to come online to check comments; everyone must hate me now.

“I won't even lie to you, sis; it's not good. It looks so bad; everyone thinks you are a gold digger for marrying Jace. You have over 100k comments and 11 million views on the post.

“What? That is a massive engagement for a single post.

“Are you sure you are safe here? You know you can stay with me until you want to get an apartment.

“Don't be dramatic, Bailey; of course I am safe and if anything at all, I am the one that is supposed to take care of you, not the other way around.

“I am just worried about you; everything is happening at once: the baby, the accident and assassination attempt, your marriage and the internet.

“I will be fine; all I am focused on now is keeping to my end of the contract agreement, which is to help Jace with his company.” Before I finished my statement, a loud yell escaped from Bailey’s mouth.

“You need to see this, sis.” She moved towards me with the speed of light and handed her phone to me and what I saw sent a jolting sensation down my spine. It was Becky in a podcast and the story headline read:

“Lyla tried to kill my child at the hospital; she is evil and a gold digger.”

The views on the livestream podcast were over 200k.
