Lyla's POV

After the recent happenings and stress from the past weeks, I had the most sound sleep anyone could ever think of, from all the sweet talks and feet massage I recieved from Jace the previous night, the cuddling and passionate love making we had, oh, how I missed the way he makes me feel.

Then waking up the next day at exactly 11:30am to breakfast, brunch, specially prepared by Jace. He can be such a sweetheart. I smiled and thanked God quietly in my heart for the gift of him.

Hey, angel, there are varieties of dishes all for you, make your choice and eat to your satisfaction, there's more from where that came from, he winked and smiled at me as he waltzed into the bathroom.

About 30minutes later, he was out and of course ensuring my bathing water was prepared too.

He brought out outfits I'll be wearing for the day and set them up on the bed. You don't have to do this, you know?

Stop complaining and go get a shower, he said carefully placing a kiss on my forehead and e

Lyla's POVThe days merged together from the hospital bed, the sterile white walls constantly reminding me of how quickly everything could change in an instant. Jace always stayed by my side. He dozed in the chair, occasionally curled up at the base of my bed. Bailey frequently visited as well, bringing snacks and tales that would make me chuckle. I despised being trapped in this place, feeling ineffective as the world beyond continued to progress. "You'll be gone before the ball," Bailey comforted one afternoon, sitting on the windowsill. "Everyone has been asking about you." The ornaments are amazing, and can you believe it? The Steel Minister is arriving by plane with his group. "That hasn't occurred in years." I struggled to smile. “Perhaps the twins are already engaging in their initial act of defiance—ensuring that mommy gets her rest.” Bailey chuckled, yet her eyes lost some brightness. She consistently acted that way whenever she was concealing something. “What is that?” I

LYLA'S POV My head pounded with each passing second. The room was thick and full of tension, the dampness in the air biting into my skin like icy teeth. My mouth was dry because I was terribly dehydrated, my lips had turned chapped. My wrists were severely bruised from the coarse rope used to tie me up in place. Becky stood there in the shadows with her arms crossed. Her pale blue eyes glittered with an intensity I couldn't recognize. It seemed as though it came from a mind long fractured, her expression unreadable laced with venom. “ So you mean you really don’t remember?” Becky said softly. “Of course you wouldn’t. You've always had the perfect life.Rich, protected and you never lacked anything, while I suffered for years watching you outshine me, but it all ends today. And there is Jace and your fairy tale romance. What about Bailey, clinging to your every word? The media worshipping you like a goddess. And me?” She paused, her voice cracked. “I was the one who cleaned up

Lyla's POV Three Months After The city had resumed an unusual tempo. Even as Becky’s incarcerated, rumors continued to spread. Since the ball, my public presence has been sparse, consisting of brief media remarks and meticulously planned charity events. My twins were flourishing, yet I remained vigilant. Not entirely. Jace hadn't either. The brother of the Prime Minister—Nathaniel Marlowe—had disappeared from the public spotlight. No formal announcement. No media inquiry. It felt like he had been silently deleted. However, I remained more vigilant. And there's this change I felt around Bailey, I sensed it more whenever she went outdoors. Discussions changed as she walked by. Even Bailey’s grin didn’t shine in her eyes as it used to. "I looked into Marlowe's final activities," Collins remarked, sitting in the hideout they currently utilized for confidential discussions. "Two days following Becky's arrest, he took a private jet using a fake identity." Lyla lifted an eyebrow. "Whe

“She looks so beautiful” Bailey,my younger sister, said sitting beside me as she took in the baby’s hand. The baby had fallen asleep. My smile grew wider as I stared at the new-born baby girl, my best friend had just given birth to.I wish she knew the guy she had a one-night stand with. He would be so happy to see his baby.As funny as it was, the baby had taken all the father’s features and none from his mother.Becky layed on the bed with a tired smile. “She already has five thousand likes,” she said, staring at her phone.I nodded. I had been so happy about the news of my best friend giving birth and had posted it on my blog.Becky cleared her throat and stood up “Can you take her to the PEDs doctor? She said she will have to give her some vaccines,” she said.I nodded with understanding that I knew she was weak. She deserves to rest after all she just gave birth. I stood up and walked towards the PEDs doctor’s office. Bailey followed me. The doctor had gone for an abrupt break,

I entered the room with a fake smile, even though everything within me was trembling with fear at the possibility of this baby being my husband’s own.Becky sat up immediately, when she saw me. She gave me her usual smile, which I returned with a fake smile.“Have you told Chad about the baby?” She asked. “No, he is in a business meeting,” I said as I gave her the baby. She gave me a tight smile. “I understand. He is a billionaire. He is always busy,” she replied.I nodded. An awkward moment existed between us before I finally decided to break the silence.“You never told me you registered your name with Mrs. Karma?” I asked calmly. She swallowed hard. I watched her expression for a while before I added, “I never knew you had suddenly become Mrs karma”. She stared at me for a while. “Well, Chad said I could use his name to avoid gossip. I didn’t think you would have a problem with that,” she said and swallowed hard.I nodded with a raised eyebrow. “I see”. Few minutes later my husb

Deep hurt pierced through my heart as I made my way to my car with a blurry vision. My heartbeat fastened with every step that I took. Immediately, I opened my car and rushed inside and closed it. Trying to close all the beautiful memories that filled my head.“No” I screamed as I hit my hands on the steering wheel. My heart heavy with anger. How could Chad just sweep everything we had under the carpet? All the memories we had from the university down to this time.Something wet and salty flowed down my cheeks and landed on my lips. I realized that I had started crying again.I shook my head. He was not worth my tears, but each time I said that, I remembered the five years of dating and five years of marriage he ended because of her.The sadness slowly turned into rage. My heart ached from the anger I felt. I had given up my dreams of being the CEO of a jewelry company to work as an accountant in his company.I knew I was more than that. Bailey's POV On a serene rooftop in Barcelona during dusk. I positioned myself at the rooftop's corner, tracking a lead when I noticed Collins—by himself, without a weapon, leaning on the ledge and smoking. He has not spotted me yet. The moment I spotted him, my breath hitched just like it used to whenever I laid eyes on him. Yet this time, it wasn't comfort that enveloped me. Yet poison and sorrow I promptly emerged from the darkness without any second thoughts. “Collins.” I shouted. He recoiled, and that by itself seemed like a victory. Gradually, he rotated. Identical eyes. The same twisted grin—yet it wavered upon seeing my expression. There was no affection in my gaze anymore. Not a single longing. “Bailey.” His tone was careful, nearly respectful. "I wasn’t anticipating—"to encounter... “I’m aware,” she interrupted him. "You also didn't think I would make it." "Yet here I stand." A flash of guilt appeared on his face. "I never wished for you to be in pain." "You must hav

Bailey's POV Returning to the Karev residence. Bailey was recovering very quickly; her injuries had mended, and she was back to her bubbling self again. Yet one aspect continued to weigh on her and rendered her vulnerable. It was the betrayal from the man she cared for. Collin. Every memory of him made her healing more difficult; her hatred for him intensified, yet his thoughts persisted. Bailey’s path to healing from the pain inflicted by Collins wasn’t linear—it was a tempest that struck fiercely, faded gradually, and left marks she would need to learn to accept. Yet it marked the start of a more profound journey: a difficult evolution into a stronger, more self-aware individual, ultimately achieving freedom. In the days that followed Collins' betrayal, Bailey drifted through life like a phantom. The burden of his deceit, of how he had been there for her, caressed her, murmured pledges in the night—only to have collaborated with them all the while—rendered her empty. Initially,

Jace’s POV Smoke and rubble filled the observatory’s entrance as operatives dressed in black rushed in equipped with silencers and night-vision equipment. Jace pulled Lyla behind a control panel, heart racing. Ryan lifted his hands, yelling, “They require me to be alive!” However, they did not arrive to discuss terms. A bullet struck Ryan in the shoulder, knocking him down to the ground. He shouted as Jace dragged Lyla into a crawl space beneath the floorboards. The ground echoed with the sound of heavy boots above. Lyla murmured, “We’re confined.” Jace's thoughts raced. “Nope.” "We have a single opportunity." He pulled the hard drive from the observatory’s central terminal—encrypted videos, AI records, and the main key to the monitoring network. Ryan moaned, blood gathering underneath him. "You must complete it." The AI—they refer to it as Project Black Protocol. It is already coordinating across boundaries. "They are utilizing your code, Jace." Jace paused—then reached a hars
