"Hey. What are you doing here?" I said to Josh, surprised to see him here this morning.
Josh dressed just like on Friday when I saw him is claded in a two-piece black suit today with a file in his hand.
"Hey. I have some work with the CEO. Weren't you aware?" He asked, smiling at me.
I shook my head before going through Giveons schedule for the day. "But you aren't on the schedule, or are you…" I trailed off when I read the word that was put in the abbreviation. "HOD design departments?"
He flashed me a smile confirming it. "You got promoted?" I asked.
"Yes, this morning." He replied making me smile so hard.
They explained why I wasn't aware. Over the weekend when I met with Beauty, he ended up joining us and that's how we bonded. It went naturally and we exchanged numbers too.
I've been feeling good since Saturday after my grandpa and I spoke and on Sunday we went to visit my mom at the hospital. She was surprised to see her dad because she could swear that until she died, he wouldn't want to see her.
"I'm so happy for you. Congratulations." I said with a smile on my face.
"So what happened ever grumpy and never finishing duty chief?" I asked, referring to the man for whom Beauty only has bad words.
"He's still there but we are both the chief of the department. I received a call this morning from the CEO. He was impressed with the work I told you I had to deal with last week Friday. Turns out that my resuming and cutting my leave short wasn't in vain."
I nodded my head in agreement. "The boss had someone inside with him right now so I'm afraid you'd have to wait."
"I don't mind it at all. Mr Jameson doesn't appreciate tardiness so it's better I'm here and wait than for him to wait for me. I wouldn't want to leave a bad reputation on my first day as chief of department."
I nodded my head. "That's true."
We started talking about the weekend and how fun it was while trying to pass the time. I hadn't noticed that Giveon was done speaking to the person who was inside with him and was outside looking at Josh and me with a scowl on his face.
"I pay you to work not to talk, isn't that it?" His tone was clipped and the look on his face made me cower.
"It was nice speaking to you and Jameson. Thanks for having me." Mr Bratt said to Giveon.
They both shook hands before he left, now leaving out an ever-angry-looking boss with us.
"Your first day as chief and you are already flirting?" Giveon accused, now looking at Josh.
I mentally scoffed at his accusation. He never ceases to amaze me with how he was quick to accuse people with legitimate proof.
"It's not what you think Mr Jameson. I…"
"And you, don't you have work to do?" Giveon ignored Josh, not giving him the chance to explain himself as he was now looking at me.
I pretended to be looking at something on my computer when there was nothing to look at
"Do you always have spare time to flirt with people?" He accused and I looked at him with a creased eyebrow.
Flirt? When? How?
"That's not true," I muttered more to myself because I wasn't bold enough to let him hear.
"I don't know what to do with you. It's enough that I have to tolerate you and you go about flirting with one of my employees? Should in case you don't know Mira…" he trailed off when he realized that he was about to call my name informally in front of Josh.
"Miss Harrison, employees are not allowed to date and the moment you are caught in a relationship with one of my employees you can kiss your job goodbye."
Instead of my father's name which I was using in the past as my last name, I now use my grandpa's own as he made me change everything after I wanted to marry Giveon.
"You don't have to worry Mr Jameson. It won't be happening and she's just a friend. I don't like her the way you think." Josh spoke, coming to my defense.
"Isn't that what they all say until they say they don't know how it happened." Giveon eyes were still on me as he spoke.
"Follow me." He stated firmly before turning to leave. Josh followed him behind but not without giving me a sympathetic look that made me angrier than I already was.
During lunch, I met up with Beauty and Josh at the company's cafeteria. I came down a little late because I had to finish sending emails that Giveon wanted me to send.
"Are you alright?" Beauty asked, coming to hug me.
I nodded my head in response.
"Josh told me what happened. I don't know why he would accuse you of flirting around. Have you had any discussion with any male client?" Beauty asked and I shook my head.
I wish I could make them understand that it was far from that.
"Maybe he's still holding a grudge from back then." She stated.
"What's going on?" Josh asked. "What grunge?"
"You don't know? They went to the same High school," Beauty informed him.
"What?" Josh was now looking at me. "So you mean to tell me you knew the boss from back then?" He asked and I nodded my head.
"Oh wow. Explain why he would accuse you."
"What do you mean?" Beauty questioned.
"He spoke like a man jealous to see his woman speaking to another man or maybe I was wrong but that was the energy I got unless he held a deep grudge against you," Josh answered.
"Really?" Beauty sounded inquisitive.
"Yes. He wasn't even directing his anger towards me. He was directing it at her and I'm certain he knew there was nothing but just felt the need to speak. I don't know but it just felt off. Mr Jameson always has a legit reason to be angry and there was never a rule about employees not dating. themselves until he mentioned it today.” Josh explained.
“I told you didn’t I?” Beauty was now looking at me making me frantic.
“What did you tell me?” I couldn’t help but ask.
“It’s either he loves you or he hates you. You said it yourself.” She reminded me of the conversation that we had the other day.
Beauty explained to Josh our conversation and he listened. How I wish I could believe what they felt because that was it. If we weren’t married that’s a different case.
“That explains why he still keeps you around. He mentioned tolerating you even though you’ve made lots of mistakes. He could have easily fired you but he keeps you around but what I don’t understand now is, isn’t the boss married?”
“He is, so you said or could it be a rumor?” Beauty questioned back.
I felt bad for not being able to tell them the truth because I didn’t want the news going around and although I believed they wouldn’t do that, I didn’t want to offend Giveon.
