Forty nine

“My mom's house,” Charlotte told Peter as she slid into the car. She had not planned on visiting her mother again until the weekend, but she needed answers to the questions that plagued her mind throughout the night.

She'd had troubles with concentrating on her job for the day and ended up making different mistakes: from messing up files, picking out the wrong documents for meetings and putting too much sugar in Walker's coffee. Even Walker had noticed and asked her what the problem was.

“Are you sure you are okay? You keep staring into space. What are you thinking about?” Walker asked after she snapped out of her thoughts. He had called her three times before finally getting a response from her.

Charlotte shook her head, “Nothing sir,”

“It doesn't look like nothing to me. I have had to call you multiple times before getting a response from you,” he paused and cocked his head to the side to observe her, "Is it your husband?”
