Chapter 2: Battlefield

The way she spoke those words, the room temperature dropped to negative, she was worried about him and wanted to listen to no nonsense.

No one spoke another word to her after seeing how scared she was. The old didn't want to go to the hospital as he was just acting to make bee granddaughter marry someone. But now that he succeeded, he wanted to stop acting and tell her everything.

But in front of her damn hot personality, he was useless at the moment. Seeing how furious she was, no one dared to tell her that everything was just a drama.

They let him go to the hospital while following the ambulance.

She was already married, there was nothing thay could happen now.

Jacob was well aware of her bad personality and how daring she can be. After all, he has been seeing her since childhood. His parents know well how dangerous she can be when furious. So it's better to just leave her alone until she calms down.

So they let her alone until she comes back and talks about it herself.

She went to the hospital. The old man was assigned to a VIP room until his stay. Well! He was not lying, not completely. He was sick and everyone thought he was lying because he wants to see Juhee get married.

While other doctors were attending to him, Juhee was busy with surgery after surgery. After all, she is a doctor and savior of many patients.

She has always been fully focused on her studies and patients after becoming a doctor. Even now when she has achieved her title as the best doctor in the hospital, she still acts down to earth and learns from others as much as she can.

But...yeah! She can be scary at times.

" How's bed no.34 doing? ", Juhee asked one of her under junior while walking in the hallway towards the surgery room.

" Her condition has stabilized now. One week of rest and she is good to go ", Said the junior girl walking on the right side beside her.

" Hmm! And...observe the patient bed no.10. His health was getting worse yesterday. We have to quickly find a solution to reform the surgery on him ", She reminded the junior about the other patient.

" Got it! ".

Six hours later,

Juhee finally came out of the surgery room and headed towards the bathroom straight. The surgery lasted for six hours, she was drained. Before the old man summoned her, she was in surgery and only went back after she was done with the surgery. There was one more surgery appointment left and she was already tired.

Maybe these were symptoms of depression she was going through at the moment. Even though she was well aware of the fact that she was no longer single, the thought of being in a serious relationship still drains all her energy.

For all these years, she was trying her best to stay away from life commitments and promises, trying to escape the family heritage. Yet in the end, she still fell deeper inside. It was not expected but what can one do when it has happened already? There was no use crying over spoiled milk, better to accept it.

After getting fresh and changing into more formal clothes, she went to see her grandfather. He was lying on the bed while there was another man in the room, feeding him green grapes adorably.

She entered the room. The old man noticed her but didn't react, kept eating grapes in the other man's hand.

" How are you feeling now? "she, asked coming to his side.

She took away the bowl of fruit from the other man's hand and set it aside on the table. She took a chair from the side and sat on it like a queen, crossed legs and hands while staring at him unmoving.

" I am feeling much better now, thanks to you ", Said the old man as he tried to avoid her gaze.

" You are quite brazen. You took advantage of me. Even when knowing that I love you the most in the whole family, you still set me up in that trap. Now that your wish has come true, what do you want me to do next? Have kids with him? ", She asked sarcastically.

The old man surely was shameless. Once heard about having great-grandkids, he got up and sat straight on the bed in excitement, as if he wanted this to happen. She was speechless and slapped herself hard on the forehead seeing his silly smile at the mention of kids.

" Please! You are too much, just rest, for now, I will come to see you later on. You are my grandpa but behave just like a little child, I can't do anything with you ", She gave up, he was out of her league.

" Aiyo! Don't go, have a conversation with this old man for a little while ", The old man finally spoke.

Seeing that he wants to have a conversation with her granddaughter, the extra man in the room got up and left the room, leaving them both alone to have a serious conversation.

She went back and sat on the chair.

" You are not mad at me for doing this, are you? ", He asked.

She was mad at him for behaving that way. But still, she can't do anything about it other than express it with her anger issues.

" Do you think I am okay with this? For the last six to seven years, you all have been playing these silky tricks on us both but now you succeeded, so you must be happy. Who cares if I am unhappy or not ", She said while not looking at him but looking at the door, she was mad at him for doing this to her.

" My dear little girl, I am just trying to make your life easier. You and Jacob have been tied into a knot now but you were betrothed when you were little. Plus, when you two just became adults, we arranged your marriage. It's just you two who kept running from the marriage ", Said the old man in a serious tone.

Well! It's true. Jacob and Juhee were already arranged for each other. Seven years ago, they were supposed to marry each other as their families decided. But she was persistent and kept denying it, even trying to kill herself as she wanted to break free from this marriage knot.

Jacob never liked her in a way a man should like a woman, and nor did Juhee like him the way a woman should like a woman. They were persistent and wanted to go their separate ways.

The family thought they were still not grown up so they were let off the hook. But the decision of the marriage was made already, there was no way the family wanted to move out from it.

In the last seven years, many events happened, many tries were given to fall for each other, and everything was an epic failure. Until he comes up with this idea. The old man knows how much she loves him and can do anything for him.

In the end, it worked out well. They were finally one now.

Juhee was not at all happy with this.

" I remember, when I was five years old, you told me to only marry someone if I love them. In the end, it's you who took advantage of my love to fulfill your desires. As much as I am hurt by this, Jacob must be going through the same. You didn't think about our life ", She still blamed him for everything.

" Child! If you don't try to love someone, how will you know your efforts were worth it? I think, you two should start living for yourself other than being busy as always ".

Her grandfather was something. She was sad and upset, angry with him. Yet he was giving her wrong ideas and life lessons that had no use for her for the moment.

Juhee set aside her anger and displeasure for a moment and smiled at him. No matter how this old man behaves, he is still going to be her favorite person.

" I can't promise you anything. But I will try my best. You should rest now, I have another surgery appointment. I need to go ", She said as she got up from the chair and walked out of the room after giving him a bright smile.

" This child...she will understand me shortly ".

After two days.

Two days went by and no one talked about the marriage thing. Neither Juhee contacted Jacob, nor he contacted her. But that was until the marriage certificate arrived.

Juhee's mother was over the moon when she got the delivery which had her daughter's marriage certificate in it.

" Finally! I can proudly tell others how handsome my son-in-law is ".

She was not flaunting her daughter's looks but her son In-laws. What a mother she is.

" Oh, God! Please. Did you ask me home for this thing? If it's only this, then I am going back home ", Juhee started walking towards the door but her mother stopped her.

It was such good news. Of course, Jacob's parents were coming and here they come. Just as they came inside, both mothers started running towards each other as if a strawberry came was being distributed for free in a high-class bakery shop.

" Milly! I finally got the marriage certificate. We have finally become In-laws now, I am so happy ", Jacob's mother was way too happy and excited.

" I know I know. We are even close now. I can finally tell others that Juhee is my daughter now. I am so happy that my daughter-in-law is such a beautiful and kind woman ", Visha said in an excited tone.

Jacob was just behind and shooting daggers toward Juhee who was on the side. " She is talking as if I am no longer her son. What do you mean by she is beautiful, your son is handsome? Don't compliment me but appreciate others ", He murmured himself.

Two friends were tied in a knot and have become a close family now, what can be better than this, this was truly the most beautiful thing that happened to them.

The mothers were happy that they had planned everything for the couple.

Her parents and his parents left them alone and went to the lawn to have a pleasant conversation. Juhee was alone with Jacob.

Both were clueless about what to talk about and what to say to each other as they were awkward around each other.

" How's your business going? ", Juhee started the conversation.

It was awkward that she felt like digging a hole and hiding inside, it was embarrassing too for some reason.

" The business is good and I am good too. What about you? Things must be difficult for you since you worked the whole day and night sometimes ", Even Jacob tried to have a normal conversation with her.

It's been years since they last decently talked to each other. After the announcement and sudden news of their arranged marriage at a family event seven years ago, they were resenting and hide from each other.

Always in a foul mood when seeing each other anywhere and avoided as if another person was a plague.

And now finally, they were here, married to each other before they knew.

" Since they have already forced us into this marriage, if we don't show them what they want to see, they won't stop meddling in our lives. Have you thought about what to do next? ", She asked him as she knows the nature of her and his parents very well.

It was important to plan things now. Marriage was the only plan but there was much more ahead that had to be done.

" You are right! From what I know, they won't stop until they get the result. Looks like we have to enter the battlefield now ".
