Chapter 4: Not wanting the world to know

Juhee glared at him but a smile remained on her face, she was surely being sarcastic in this one.

Lucas smiled like a smart kid who knows everything despite her words. " I understand, Sister in law ".

He didn't understand anything. She told him not to call her sister in law, yet he called her knowing she doesn't like it. It was fun and all to him.

" You are surely stubborn. Fine! I understand it. Next time you come to the hospital, make sure you are really sick ", She whispered into his ear while giving him devilish feelings.

The smile on Lucas's fade faded the moment she mentioned about his constant visit to the hospital.

Lucas shut his mouth and even wanted to make amends with her, but ignored him with a straight face, it's calming to the soul to see him in despair.

" Juhee...", Lucas tried to talk with her but she slipped towards Jacob and smirked at him.

" He shut his mouth so easily? He is the most annoying one of us, how did you do that? ", Jacob asked as he whispered to her.

Juhee smirked as she slipped her hand on his shoulder and leaned close to him. " I have his reign in my hand, dare he go against me? ", She just said some confusing words which he definitely wasn't able to understand.

The family gatherings like this are very draining to Juhee, she doesn't like standing at the same place for hours and hours and smiles like a mannequin, lifeless and wild.

Instead of spending her time like this talking to everyone and smiling forcefully, she prefers to stay alone.

It's not like she is uncomfortable with people around, it's just that her work is very hectic, so the remaining time gets after work, she wants to spend it on herself.

Everyone was presented in the gathering, they were smiling, laughing, chatting and spreading gossip among each other. Jacob and Juhee's marriage was of course the highlight of today's event.

" How long do we have to stay here? I wanna go back to my room and get some rest ", She mumbled to herself with that fake smile on her face.

Right now, everyone was discussing their marriage as the marriage really happened in a rush, they all wanted to have a grand wedding and reception after that.

But the couple in concern of that matter has no interest in any kind of that thing.

Seeing how everyone was so excited and eager, she glanced towards Jacob and pulled the corner of his shirt gently, asking for his attention. He looked at her, he was simply surprised at what silly things his girl was doing.

" What is it? ", He asked in a light tone that could only be heard by her.

" They are talking about our marriage. Do something. A grand wedding means everyone will know about us, I don't want that ", She said.

Of course she was worried and concerned about this matter. In the hospital where she works, everyone thinks of her highly. And all of her coworkers and juniors know she avoids men and boys like she avoided infection and disease or parasites. There's no way she would like to destroy that character of her.

Jacob heard her quite clearly, and he agreed with that. He has many people to handle, so he can't give the reign of his life to this woman.

It's okay to just stay as a married couple in secret. But letting the whole world know is something beyond his imagination.

" I am thinking of settling the marriage date next month. It's her birthday as well, so the marriage will be the biggest gift of her life ", Said the old man with a joker-like wide smile on his face.

He was talking about her marriage as if she was the most looking forward to it and can't contain her happiness. But in truth, this old man is the one who wants the whole world to know how handsome his grandson-in-law is and how proud he is to have such a kind and intelligent granddaughter.

" Next month? Don't you think it's too sudden? ", Her eldest aunt said with a worried look on her face.

Of course, it's too soon. If the marriage gets held on the date this old man was saying, it's a big problem. There are many preparations to be done when it comes to weddings.

Having a grand wedding means there will be many expenses occurring and many things to be done. It won't just happen because someone said so, action will have to be taken.

Jacob gets close to the old man and sits down beside him. " Grandpa! We are already married, there's no need to hold a wedding ceremony. You know it, I don't like grand things, I like having everything simple ", Jacob said, he was trying to convince the old man to reconsider his decision.

The old man, however, does not easily bend. " It's a wedding we are talking about. You are already married on the papers but others don't know it. We have to hold a grand ceremony, letting everyone know that my beautiful and intelligent granddaughter is married to a handsome man like you. Plus, she is my most precious child, how can I not do the basic formality?", Said the old man with a glean on his face.

Juhee was hearing everything and she was pissed off right now. She couldn't stay calm any longer now and jumped into the conversation.

" Grandpa! If you are doing this for my sake, you don't have to. I don't want to show off my husband or this wedding. It's pretty good that we are done with these simple steps. I have a marriage certificate, and no one will doubt us. It's not good to indulge in great pleasure when we can get satisfied by simple happiness ".

Once those words came out of her mouth, the room fell silent, everyone went silent. Well! It's better, as long there's no grand wedding. They married in a tough situation, there's no way she is ready to face the world yet. How can she tell her colleagues that she is married? She was once the golden bachelor in the whole hospital.

" You two have married already, why don't you want the world to know? Is this a shameful event for you that you want to hide it? ".
