“How is he doing?” Ava asked as I entered the kitchen. She was sitting on one of the aisle stools, a cup in front of her.

“Better,” I replied, dumping the content in my hand into the sink. “He has added some weight, which is good. But Ryder still wants to keep him under bedrest for a while longer.”
