Sarah

Tiny rays of light were beginning to taint the sky as I stood over my mother’s frail form wrapped in blankets.

She had slept throughout the night. Whereas Lisa and I have stayed up all night trying to reach Lucas.

“I'm right here with her. She will be fine,” Lisa spoke behind me. “But Ryder won't. If you don't move fast.”

I nodded in agreement. She was right. I was on a thinly stretched time limit. With one last glance at the sleeping figure, I hurried out of the house and into the car waiting for me.

Rob must have sensed the urgency in my voice when I woke him up. Because he arrived at Lucas’ mansion in a new record time.

I walked into the house and headed straight for his room. I knocked firmly on the door, my heart pounding with anticipation.

The door creaked open, revealing Lucas with a furrowed brow. "Sarah? Why are you here so early? Is everything alright?"
