Becca's POV

Bas was right; in the two weeks since the incident, things had died down. The witches were adept at hiding, and soon Darius's anger subsided. But I knew he wasn't one to easily forget. He was still setting his trap, and I had to be careful.

My phone beeped with a message from Naomi. I had asked to meet her, and for safety, we decided to meet at the lake shore—a place werewolves rarely visited.

There was a knock on my car window, jolting me back to reality. Turning, I saw Naomi.

I unlocked the door, allowing her in. She slid into the seat, looking tense yet determined. "Thanks for seeing me again," she said. "Considering how things were the last time, I wasn't expecting your call."

"Believe me, if it weren't for certain situations, I wouldn't have," I replied.

She nodded, understanding. "I understand your pain, but I hope you'll be able to understand mine."
