Riley woke to her phone ringing at seven-thirty in the morning. “Good morning mother.” She whispered as she climbed out of bed, careful not to wake Jackson.

“Good morning Riley, I need you to come to my office right away dear.” Her mother’s voice wasn’t as cheerful as it always was and Riley’s heart sank at the sound of it.

“Now Riley!” She could hear her father yell in the background.

“Alright, I just need to get dressed first and I will be right there.” She returned hanging up the phone.

She grabbed the first decent outfit that she could find, still trying really hard not to wake Jackson as she slipped into the guest room to get dressed. She kissed Jackson before she left and headed to the elevator.

Her mother’s office was on the first floor, close to where the hotel check in was. She was surprised to see Sam and Ronnie there also but before she could ask any questions papers

“I know, but don’t you think Jackson should have been the one to tell me about all of this.” She returned.Mandy brought over the drinks that were quickly delivered and sat down with them. Riley handed her the stack of papers she was bombarded with earlier.“Ry he was probably going to tell you, you two have only been dating for two months now. You can’t be mad because your obsessive ex beat him to it.” Sam defended. “Not everybody is like you, people have a past Riley.”“I know.” Riley answered, sipping off of her smoothie, deep in thought.“Loverboy is looking for you. What do you want me to tell him?” Sam asked, shaking his phone in the air.“Just have him come over.” Riley went back to her smoothie and deep thoughts. She was trying to come up with a decent reason for everything. She barely noticed that Sam got up to let Jackson in.“Dad wants us to

When Jackson got back to the penthouse it was quiet so he was sure that Riley was gone. He put the vase of dark purple and blue orchids on the table and loosened his tie. The loud banging on the door alerted him, but he already knew who it was.He knew that Gerard would be bothering them sometime soon with the argument they got into at the club. He didn't quite understand why Arthur had invited him to go the club with them. He wondered why Riley’s father was so worried about him being with Riley. He was shocked when Riley came out of the room in a camouflage bikini that covered less than her underwear does. He grabbed her hand and pulled her to him. “Don’t answer that.” He said as he glanced from her head to toes, extremely aroused by what she was wearing.“I didn’t know you were back yet.” She returned, staring at the door, which still had a loud pounding noise coming from it. “The girls and I were going to go swi

“Your father invited Gerard to our little get together.” Jackson answered as he pulled a t-shirt on. He left the room quickly.Riley quickly found her satin robe and covered herself, being pulled out of the euphoria she was in faster than she would have liked. She heard shouting, followed by a loud thud, so she rushed out of the room, just in time to see Gerard scrambling to get to his feet.“I already told you once that I will not let you talk about her like that.” Jackson said as he held out a hand to help Gerard up.The second Gerard found his footing he swung his fist toward Jackson. Jackson dodged quickly and Gerard’s fist hit the wall with a loud thud. Gerard pulled back his now swelling fist and shook it but was quickly knocked back down with another swing from Jackson.Riley screamed and ran in between the two, but quickly regretted as Gerard’s fist connected with her jaw. Before she could stand back up Jackson

“Samuel James?” The paramedic said as Sam answered his phone.“Speaking.” He answered.“There has been an accident, we need you to come to Mount Sinai hospital right away.”“What happened?”“You should bring your immediate family.” The paramedic hung up before he could ask any more questions. He jumped out of bed and got dressed, waking Mandy as he called his mother. By the time they got to the hospital Riley was being wheeled into an operating room. His mother was pulled away by a different doctor only to come back seconds later, crying her eyes out. “Sam, your father didn’t make it. They said he was dead on scene.” Erin ran into Sam’s arms. He calmed Mandy and Erin as much as he possibly could for about ten minutes, then pulled away and started trying to get a hold of Jackson. A dozen calls with no answer he stopped trying when the surgeon came out.“

He dialed Riley’s number one more time and when it went to voicemail again, he sent probably the millionth ‘I love you, I am so sorry’ text message he had sent her. He took another big long pull off of the vodka bottle before he decided to send Erin James a fax. It had all the details of the club he and Riley were working on, with the name Manhattan Passion written across the top. He figured if his relationship with Riley was really over the name of what they had started together should at least reflect a little on what they had. He decided he would send her one last message before he left her alone.‘Darlin’ I miss you and I can’t help but feel like you are mad at me for fighting with Gerard. I never meant for that to happen, but I couldn’t let him belittle you like that. I love you and I always will. You are the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me and the most amazing and beautiful woman on this planet. I love you with a

Sam and Ronnie both stared at Jackson with a shocked look. Sam wasn’t sure if he should be angry with him, or heartbroken for him. When Sam realized that Jackson had lost the ability to speak he thanked the doctor for him. Sam patted his shoulder comfortingly as he gave him a minute to come to his senses.“So, she was pregnant?” Sam asked. “Why didn’t she tell us?”“We found out the morning of your wedding, she wasn’t far along and she didn’t want to take the excitement away from you and Mandy.” Jackson answered.Sam held back his tears but Jackson simply couldn’t. He lost his unborn child and was unsure if he was going to lose the love of his life too. Sam looked like he had more questions, but they were quickly interrupted by Erin and Mandy walking into the room.“Riley, I brought your favorite takeout, if you wake up I might share.” Mandy said as she handed Sam a box and a se

He hung up the phone with his eyes wide and brimming with tears as he dialed Sam. “Get here, now.” He said hanging up before Sam could ask any questions.“Jackson.” Her voice was still a harsh whisper.“Yes, my love?” He asked as he rushed over to her bedside and pushed the call button.“My dad, didn’t make it, did he?” She asked.Jackson kissed her knuckles lovingly as he shook his head with a look of sadness in his eyes.“And the baby?” She asked.Tears streamed down his face and the mention of it. He really wasn’t expecting to have to answer these questions the second she woke up. “No, my love.” He kissed her forehead but before she could even process anything Sam and Mandy came rushing in.Sam was so excited to see her awake he almost shut the door on the doctor as he rushed over to hug her. She kept her face buried in his chest and was hyperventilating to the point that he thought she was going to pass out.Once they got to her penthouse she took a shower while Jackson cleaned up, trying to make it easier for her as much as he could. He called Sam once he was finished, hearing that Riley was still in the shower. “Hey, Sam we are home now, she’s in a shower.”“How is she doing?” Sam asked, they had both already discussed how worried they were about her getting into a car again, even though they knew it

Jackson stood at the end of the aisle, patiently waiting but anxious. He glanced over at Erin who was bouncing Arthur Ronnie James on one knee while holding Adelaide Myers on the other. Arthur was just one month older than Adelaide and had his father’s dirty dishwater blond hair, he was wearing possibly the cutest little tuxedo Jackson had ever seen. Adelaide however had Riley’s red hair and Jackson’s greenish blue eyes, she was in a beautiful white dress with purple flower accents.Jackson was glad when he found out that Riley was pregnant, and it was all he could think about for a while, but when Sam said that they would be having a little boy it made it even better, Jackson’s daughter would have an older cousin to protect her, on top of Ronnie of course. He watched as Ronnie got in the chair next to Erin and took Adelaide, rocking the three month old baby to sleep within minutes. He couldn’t help but think about how full and happy his l

Jackson was shocked at how quickly Derek was able to get the footage and was on the way to what was once the Moretti family’s vineyard. “How do you know that this is where they are?” Ronnie just wanted to be thorough.“The last stop we have him clocked at is about a mile away, where else would that bastard take her?” Sean said as he pushed the clip into his forty-five.“I don’t know why, this place has been abandoned since you kicked Gerard out of the hotel.” Derek said as he pulled out his phone. “Pull up just to where you can barely see the trees, lights off and we will continue on foot. We only saw the three guys and two girls on the footage in the car.” He hung up quickly as too started loading numerous guns, one of which was a fifty cal.“Do you guys work for the mob or something like that?” Jackson joked as he was handed a fully loaded pistol.“Something like that.”

When they got back to the penthouse to pick up Riley and Mandy they were both shocked when the door to both penthouses were left open and looked like there was a struggle.“What the fuck happened here?” Sam said as he stepped over a box that looked like it had been almost packed before it was knocked over.Jackson peeked in the door and then rushed to Riley’s penthouse screaming for her. Ronnie and Sam followed behind him. The door to Riley’s penthouse had been broken down, the tv was knocked down, the couch flipped over and broken glass by the coffee table. One of the lamps was shattered by the couch.“Ronnie, pull the camera footage and see what’s going on.” Sam demanded as he pulled out his phone attempting to call Mandy. “Mandy’s phone is off.”“Same with Riley’s.” Jackson answered as he hung up his phone. “What the hell do we do?”Sam dialed a number. &ld

Jackson got out of bed and got dressed, going down and cooking biscuits and gravy as he texted Sam to come by for breakfast. Once everything was done Riley was just coming out of the shower as Sam and Mandy arrived. Mandy and Sam dropped off some of their clothes before they all sat down and ate.The breakfast that Jackson cooked went by fairly quickly with tons of chit-chat and Sam finally announcing that they would be moving in downstairs. Jackson was happy as he watched Riley and Mandy celebrate as they ran down the stairs to unpack Sam and Mandy’s stuff.“You worried about tonight?” Sam asked as soon as Riley and Mandy were out of earshot.“Terrified.” Jackson answered.Sam grinned. “My mom’s not that bad.”“I am just nervous about the whole thing, what if your mother doesn’t want me to marry Riley, or what if Riley says no? I doubt she would, she seems pretty enthusiastic to spend the

He stammered before he turned the water off and helped her in the bathtub, climbing in behind her. He pulled her so that she was leant against his chest. His heart was thundering wildly as he kissed the back of her neck. “I love you, Riley.”“I love you, Jackson.” She returned, turning her head to kiss him.Her breathe caught in her throat as he lightly traced his fingers up her abdomen. She pushed her body against him even more, feeling that he was rock hard already. She took his lips in a rough kiss, flicking her tongue across the seam until he allowed her entrance as he started playing with her nipples lightly tugging and pinching. It had been so long since they had been intimate that she had forgotten how quickly her body responds to him, and how quickly his responds to her. Feeling the desire building in her core she let out a light moan against his lips. “Jackson.” She begged.“Patience, darlin’.

“Holy shit, it’s almost a separate house.” Sam said, still amazed even though it looked almost exactly like the ground level, with the bedrooms added.“There’s also a room on the ground-level for your mother and one for Ronnie too.” Jackson stated. “I’m not sure if your mother is going to want to move here, but I know Riley feels more comfortable with Ronnie around.”“Look, man.” Sam started. “Ronnie has protected her and I from a lot of stuff. He’s not just a bodyguard he’s like the really close uncle that would die for us. I know how you could be worried about her having such a young bodyguard but he’s no threat he just wants to see us happy.”“Sam, that’s not what this is about. I can see the connection that they have and it’s not something I’m scared of, I just want her to feel as safe as possible.” Jackson stated. “I’ve b

Jackson spent the next two months slowly moving his stuff out of his house in California. He would leave with nothing in his suitcases and them filled when he came back. He made his trips short, only a day or two tops and would schedule them around the times that Sam was out of town so that Mandy and Riley could have girl’s nights. He Had managed to convince Riley to start going to therapy with the help of Ronnie and Sam. Mandy was no help, she just agreed with Riley that she would be alright without it.The only thing he kept in his suitcase at all times was the ring that his father gave him for Riley. He would stare at every chance he got. He was worried about asking because they had only been together for six months, but he already knew that she was his forever. This trip was special though.
