I crawl out of the air vent, pull out my phone and start video recording as I enter the dimly lit warehouse. It is so creepy in here. I'm slowly getting scared as I walk further into the building but I strengthen my resolve. This case is very important and once I succeed, I'll get a real job and maybe I'll even start my own official news blog.I smile to myself as I think. I spot security men walking around the building. A few of them upstairs, a few of them downstairs and others walking around. I scan the building for security cameras and find a lot of them in almost every corner of the building. The security here sure is tight.Luckily, I dodge the security men and make sure I'm not seen by the cameras. I hold my phone tight in my hand and tiptoe stealthily. I spot a slightly opened door and walk towards it.A gasp escapes my mouth when I find the kidnapped women and children in the room. I was able to recognise one child. His photo was everywhere saying that he was missing. Before I step closer to the scared victims, a strong hand grabs me by the shoulder and spins me around to face him. I gasp and quickly frown."Let go of me." I say and push myself away from the guard. "I have recorded everything that goes on in this building. If you try to hurt me or them, I'll post this video on the internet." I say as I wave my hand in front of the guard.I then realise that what I did was very stupid of me when the guard snatched the phone away from me before I could even blink. I purse my lips, thinking of a way to escape but the guard grabs my hand and begins pulling me.I try to wriggle out of his grasp but he is too strong."I found a tresspaser boss. A woman." Says the guard, speaking into his walkie-talkie. He quickens his pace and tightens his grasp around my wrist."Get rid of her before she becomes a problem for us." A female voice, which I assumed to be the voice of their boss, orders and the guard looks at me. For a moment I thought I saw a flash of sadness in his eyes. But his expression quickly turns cold."Boss, how about we let her join the other people we kidnapped or we send her to Doc? Doc needs someone to test his drug on." The guards stops, still holding me. Other guards pass by us and glare coldly at me.As they patrol the building, the attention of the ones we were closer to were mostly on me. I become frightened. Being able to hear the conversation between the guard and his boss was also not helping. There's a pause on the other side."Alright take her to Doc. Kill her immediately if something goes wrong." The woman orders. The guard responds and turns around. We walk until we enter a room that lookslike a lab. A a very dirty and disgusting lab."Doc? Are you here?" The guard calls out."I am. Please give me a minute and I'll be right with you." A male voice responds. We hear sounds of someone moving around. Then a lean man with ruffled hair and tattooes all over his body, gives us a crooked smile when he sees us and walks towards us."Well well James, what do we have here?" The guy asks the guard."A guinea pig. Boss asked me to bring her here." James, the guard and my ex boyfriend smirks evilly at me. Doc grabs a lab coat and gestures James to a dirty hospital bed. Doc and James force me on the bed and strap me into it."Take her to the boss to inspect her after you're done." Before I'm able to scream out loud for help, James stuffs a dirty piece of cloth in my mouth, smirks and walks out of the room, leaving me with Doc."Okay Miss. Thank you very much for volunteering to get tested with my drug." Doc cackles maniacally as he speaks. I didn't volunteer! I scream but it is muffled by the cloth in my mouth."This drug is called ZIP. The Big Boss asked me to prepare it so that we can erase memories of the women and children we kidnap before we traffick them. You, Miss, are the very first volunteer so sit tight." Doc laughs again. His ugly laughter pierces my ears as I try to break free and escape from this hell.Doc brings out a syringe containing a yellowish liquid. I struggle to break free and escape this hell as Doc nears the bed, but nothing is working. Doc smirks at me before forcefully grabbing my arm and injects me with the substance.I begin to feel weak and numb and my eyes feel droopy. I try to stay awake but my body has already given in, allowing the sudden fatigue I was feeling to consume me. The last thing I see before closing my eyes is Doc with an ugly smirk plastered on his pale face.*****CodyI glance at my watch and frown at the time. It is 10pm. I'm suppose to go to work early and if I didn't want to be late to work tomorrow then I better head home.I gulp down my last beer, pay the barista and rush out of there with my assistant following behind me.Today is the day my father died 20 years ago. I'm supposed to be sad but I'm rather angry. I hated my father. I hated my parents. I hated my little sister, Kylie. The only member of my family I don't hate is my little brother Lee. But he annoys me.Thinking about my family always made me furious. I lived a hard life as a kid. My mother treated us very badly and my father was a coward who never confronted my mother whenever she treated us like worthless kids. So I hated my father the most.I may be a sadist but thinking about my father's death somehow gives me satisfaction.I cut ties with my family immediately I turned 18. We were a rich family but my greedy mother never took care of us with our wealth. Lee and I were always on the streets working our butts off to take care of ourselves while Kylie was secretly being paid to always get us in trouble at the places we worked. I really hated her for that after I found out and I still do.Once I turned 18, I thought I was finally free from my mother but I wasn't. My mother was able to buy shares in Wells Architectural Industries once my brother and I established it. I guess she made it her mission to ruin our lives. What a mother she was!I run my hand through my hair, frustratedly. Because I was angry earlier, I drove with speed from my office to the bar but I drove past the bar and had to park my car three blocks away from the bar. I groan as my assistant and I walk towards my car.As I pass by the alleyway, I spot something unusual from the corner of my eye. From the look on my assistant, Sam's face, I felt relief knowing I wasn't the only one seeing it.We walk closer to have a look and were startled to find a body lying in the dumpster.I decide to move on, pretending I never saw it but Sam grabs my hand and gives me a look. I arch my eyebrow and glare at her, telling her that I am just going to walk away. Sam and I argue over checking out the body for about ten minutes. Knowing that Sam wouldn't drop it, I listen to her because I don't want to waste anymore time out here.Growing up, I learnt to care about nobody but myself and my little brother but now I am supposed to shove that thought away and help the lady in the dumpster. She was unconscious and naked and fortunately, she was also alive. I inform Sam that she is still alive and Sam lets out a breath of relief after I checked her pulse. We pull her out and Sam forces me to wrap my coat around her body to cover her. Then we take her to my car without drawing attention to ourselves and quickly drive to my house.Once we arrived, I put her on a bed in the guestroom and I'm left with no idea of what to do next.I turn to my assistant. "Molly, clean her up while I bring a shirt and sweatpants to put on her.""It's Sam. And what, you can't do all this by yourself? I need to get back to my kid." I shake my head and Sam's groans.Normally, I don't let anyone talk to me like that. I would've fired Samantha for that but she was the only one whom I saw as competent enough to work with me and she was the only one who could handle my arrogant behaviour. She was also my only friend and the only person I trusted the most besides my brother, so I always ignored her behaviour.I walk out to the kitchen to find my first aid kit. I go back to the guest room once I find the kit and give it to Sam to attend to the lady. She has a nasty bruise on her wrist and a bloody bruise on her other arm.I stare at her body and Sam scolds at me, making me look away. I quickly get extra sheets from the closet in the room and Sam covers her with it. Afterwards, I get a shirt and sweatpants from my closet and throw them at Sam. I walk out to the living room, leaving Sam alone with the lady. After an hour and half, Sam walks into the living room. For some reason, I was worried and it frustrated me. Sam notices that I am feeling uneasy so she assures me that the lady is going to be okay and asks me to call her once she wakes up. Sam also assures me that she will be here early in the morning to check up on her so I needed to rest.I listen to my assistant, escort her out and check up on the unconscious lady. I made sure she was comfortable and went to rest in my room. After minutes of tossing and turning in my bed, I finally fall asleep.I am able to wake up early the next morning. An hour later, Sam arrives. She prepares breakfast for herself and I and also for the unconscious lady, in case she woke up.As we were about to leave for work, I ask Sam to go ahead, I was going to arrive later. I wanted to check up on the young woman. Immediately Sam leaves, I go to the lady's room but she isn't there.I panicked.Cody "Jane, come over here quick. I can't find the woman we brought to my house anywhere." "My name is Sam." She groans before continuing. "Are you sure she's gone? Have you looked everywhere?" "Of course I have." I yell into the phone and exhale deeply. I change my tone to a more calm one. "I have looked everywhere Miranda. I can't find her. What if she's just hiding somewhere stealing my stuff and I can't find her because she's a thief who's good at her job?" "Miranda is my daughter's name." She groans again. I really love to annoy Sam by calling her different names and pretending to forget her name everytime. "How is she a thief if we found her lying in a dumpster naked and vulnerable? What exactly is wrong with you thinking like that?" I open move my lips to answer but Sam interrupts me, making me frown. "Look. I'm coming. I'll ask Miss Anderson to take care of everything. It looks like we won't be spending our entire day in the office today." She grumbles the last part and en
Cody As I walk into the living room, I notice Sam walking after me. "Cody." She calls but I don't respond. "Cody!" "What?" I snap. "Why did you promise to her that we're going to help her? I don't want any part of this." Sam stares at me pointedly. "We brought her here to your house and therefore we must help her. She needs help." "Can't we just hand her over to the police and make her not our problem anymore?" I argue and Sam's eyes widen. "Cody! We are going to help her whether you like it or not. And that's final." She then grabs my shoulders. "Promise me you're going to help her." I look away and she shakes me lightly. I direct my gaze back to her. "Cody, I want you to promise me that you're going to help Snow." I sigh, not liking the idea. "I promise." Sam smiles. "What you said earlier was a very good idea though." She says. "You mean handing her over to the police? I thought you weren't happy with that idea." I frown at her. "Of course we're not going to just hand Sno
Snow"I found a match." Detective Parker announces. "Ready to know who you are Miss Snow?" He asks me and I suddenly feel nervous."I'm ready. Detective." I say."Okay, Miss Snow." Detective parker starts and turns his computer monitor towards us. "Your name is Lily Jenkins."I inhale sharply as he mentions my name, trying to keep my emotions under control. I take in the image of myself on the screen. I had a smile on but it looked forced. And my hair was a little messy but I looked...okay in the picture. "You're 22 years old and you're an investigative reporter," The detecive informs us and snickers. "but you suck at your job. You're unemployed, you have an online blog but not many views. Your parents died in a car crash on their way to your college graduation." He reads my profile out loud and I scowl at him. But my scowl was immediately replaced with a sad face. I have a miserable life. No parents, no job and a lame blog. My life is just sad. My chest felt like it was tightening u
Cody"I remembered something." Snow says softly. "But I have a headache.""You remembered something. What did you remember?" Sam inquires.I half smile and then frown, remembering that she'll be seeing a doctor to run some tests on her and therapist to help her recover her memories. Snow will be owing me a lot.I speed up, wanting to reach home early."I remembered posting my last F******k post." Snow narrates and I pay attention to both her and the road . "I was sitting behind my computer, typing something. I remember that that was after I posted that message on F******k. But I couldn't make out what I was working on behind my computer.""Well, it's better than nothing I guess." Sam lets out a small smile, trying to cheer Snow up. "It's baby steps. You don't have to stress too much about remembering yout past life. It will all come to you." She says."Thanks Sam." We finally arrive at my house and I drive through the automatic gates to the garage. Sam, Snow and I quickly walk into th
Snow Sam and I sit in the consulting room for about an hour before the doctor comes in with the test results. “From our results, the ZIP drug is in every system in your body. It’s not harmful at all so don’t be worried.” The doctor says as he sits down behind his desk. “It’ll slowly leave your body as you recover your memories ." "When will that be?" Sam asks "Well you said that you remembered something yesterday right?" I nod and he continues, "It depends. I can't really say when it'll be completely out of your system. But in the meantime you can see a therapist to help you recover your memories. You also have to be very active too to speed up the process." "Okay." I say with a small smile, not really knowing how to respond to this. "Here's Doctor Stella Gates' card. Call her for an appointment and let her know that I recommended her to you. She's a really busy woman but she'll make time for you when she knows that I recommended her." The doctor hands me a business card and I ta
Cody "Have a minute to spare?" Lee asks, peeking his head through my office door. "Come in." I answer and he enters. "Where's Sam?" "She's running an errand for me." "With a lady? Who's she?" Lee asks with interest, sitting on one of the chairs in front of my desks. I groan inwardly. "How do you know about her?" "So you do have a new girl! Finally." He grinned. "Kylie asked me about her the other day." "How does Kylie know about her?" He shrugs. "Beats me. I didn't ask because I didn't believe her. What's her name?" "Is that what you came here to talk about?" I frown. "No and yes." He nods. "No?" "Mother called me this morning, saying she wanted to meet us three." He suddenly grew serious. "Why does she want to meet the three of us?" My frown grows deeper. "I have no idea but I also don't want to go." I nod slowly, growing more and more angry at the sound of meeting Mother and my sister. "But she said it's urgent." I relax in my seat and rub my temples to calm myself do
Cody After calling Sam and telling her about the explosion at Snow's apartment, I quickly rush out of the men's room. "Lee, we're leaving." I call him. I don't give them time to comprehend what I just said. Lee gives me a questioning look and both Mother and Kylie look confused. I ignore them and walk out of the restaurant without uttering a word. "Cody!" Lee shouts from behind me, but I keep walking towards my car. "Can you slow down? You just left Mother and Kylie in there without saying anything." "Lee. This is more important." I state. "What is?" "That's irrelevant. So shut up and let's go. Unless you still want to have an awkward lunch with them." Lee heaves a defeated sigh and sits in the car. We pull out of the parking lot and drive to the apartment building. ***** The completely demolished apartment building has now turned into a crime scene. There are a lot of policemen securing the area, and people swarming the area, trying to find out what's going on. Parker walks up
Snow Hugging Mr Wells just felt right. When he pulled me in, I was a bit startled because he doesn't look like the touchy-feely type but I hugged him back and felt myself slowly calming down. I felt comfortable and safe in his arms. I wasn't sure why and I'm still not sure. It was soothing to be in his arms, I guess. I tried to ignore the emotions I felt the entire day. Sadness, anger, worry and frustration. Immediately I was left alone in the kitchen, I broke down in tears. I couldn't keep it in anymore. But when Mr Wells embraced me, it all went away. And I was glad it did. Mr Wells took me to my room and left me without saying a word. At least I was able to sleep without finding it difficult to do so like the nights before. I actually slept peacefully. So when I woke up this morning, I decided to do something to show Mr Wells that I appreciated what he did yesterday. But luck just wasn't on my side. After I got out of bed, I felt wet and sticky and smelly. The bed was stained w
Snow “So as I was saying,” I continue after, putting the phone on charge. “Carlos loves you and I’m pretty sure he’ll do anything to be with you.” Miranda gasps. “You really think so.” “I know so. Teenage love is easier to identify. So beautiful and tenderly, so kind.” I sigh dramatically and we both burst into laughter. “Ok. Now I’m starving. Let’s go and find the girls and then later, we have breakfast. If my stomach rumbles again, don’t let it surprise you when I head in the direction of the breakfast lounge.” Miranda giggles and we both head out. I ask her to try calling Daya before we went to her room in the hotel. Then we bump into Cody. Miranda gasps dramatically. We gaze at each other for a while before she walks away, still giggling. Then I turn to Cody and raise a brow at him. He smiles at me and pulls me back into a my room. “What are you doi-“ He covers my mouth before I’m able to finish my sentence. Then he smashes his lips on mine, kissing me with need. He swallows my
Snow The days went by quickly as we prepared towards the wedding. Everyone was present a week before the day of the wedding. My aunt and uncle, Andre, Cody and Lee, Serena and some other friends of Cody and I. Daya and the planner triple checked everything to make sure that the decorations, food, my wedding dress, Cody’s wedding tuxedo, invitations and everything else was on point. The guests had already started arriving. Cody and I were grateful to see those who could make it and we kept expecting more of our guests to arrive. Inwardly, I was very happy that Ruby was being helpful. Lee planned pre-wedding celebrations for Cody and I to have fun before the day of our wedding ceremony. Dave, Daya’s husband joined in on the fun. I had my bridal shower three days ago and it was lovely. I had lots of fun with my family and friends. Knowing Lee, it was wild as it was expected, but we didn’t mind. On the next day, there was rehearsal dinner. It also went on smoothly until Lee started firew
Cody “Serena, have you made reservations for lunch?” “I have, Mr. Wells. I wasn’t sure of what to do since Mrs. Wells isn’t here so I just made reservations for two.” “Can you cancel? And did you just call my fiancé Mrs. Wells?” I look up at her, a smile creeping on my lips. Serena smiles and nods. “Mr. Wells asked me to call her that since you’ll be married in the next two months. In his words, ‘It wouldn’t hurt to start calling her Mrs. Wells. Those two were practically married before Cody decided to make it official.’” I chuckle. “Lee said that?” “He did, Sir.” She answers. “Alright. Just cancel my plans for lunch. I’ll be spending my lunch break talking to Snow.” “Or instead of cancelling, Lee and I can go and have lunch together. Just the two of us. That isn’t a bad idea, right?” “Of course not. Not at all.” I wink at her, making her blush. She excuses herself and exits my office. Before I hired Serena as my assistant, she was a waiter at Duquette’s café. My secretary wh
Snow "We're here Daya." I say happily settling down on my bed in our hotel suite. "That's great. You're at the hotel right? "Yeah." "I'm sure you'll find Carlos wondering around with his grandmother. If you do, let him drive you to Marco's Pastry Place. But if not, let me know. I'm kind of busy here at the bakery so I'll see you when you get here." "You're busy this evening?" "Yeah. Dave's father is hosting a small party for his friends and I'm in charge of the food. I need to get everything done on time. Then we can hang out afterwards." "Sure, but which of his grandmothers is he here with?" I try to hide the panic in my voice. Daya laughs. "That'll be a surprise for you." "A cruel one if it's Ruby." She bursts into laughter again. "Alright. I'll see you and Miranda when you get here. Have fun." Then she hangs up. "Andy." I call out. "Yes Mom?" " I just called Daya. She said Carlos is around. You can call him if you want." "I've already done that, he'll be here any seco
Snow A year ago, we went on a vacation in London where we met with one of Cody’s old friends and his wife and children. Mr. and Mrs. Robinson are really nice people that welcomed us warmly. It was a very nice experience, spending a week with them. Not to mention that Miranda had a great time with their son Carlos who’s three years older than her. Though she hates to admit it, she did have a lot of fun in London and I’m certain Carlos and Miranda contact each other. Mrs. Daya Robinson, a renowned baker in London and one of the owners of Lena’s Bakery all around the country. She manages the bakeries with her brother, Marco Sanchez. Daya was very friendly and we got along so well. Especially after I found out that her mother was someone I’ve been trying to track for a long time and almost got killed by her but she let me go for unknown reasons. Snow “Miranda?” I knock on her door. “Can I come in?” I ask softly. The door opens and Miranda looks up at me. “You can come in.” She opens the doors wider and lets me in. I walk to her desk and have a seat on her chair. “Is there anything I can help you with, Mom?” “I wanted to talk to you.” “Come have a seat on the bed with me. It’s good that you brought this up.” I look at her with furrowed brows. “It is?” I ask her and she nods. I sit beside her on the bed, kicking off my shoes and crossing my legs so that I’m sitting opposite her in the same position. She urges me to speak and I continue but then I ask her, “what is it that you think I’m bringing up here? I want to be sure that we’re on the same page here.” “Aren’t you here to talk about us? You and I?” She waves her finger between us. “I am.” “Let me apologize first. I’ve always wanted to but I didn’t know how to bring it up.” “Don’t worry about that Miranda.” “No. I want to apologize for my attitude towards you. I’m r
Cody “Hey Dad.” “Miranda?” I look up at her as she enters the study. “I was wondering if I could sleep over at Jessie’s place tomorrow night.” “A sleepover? I don’t mind. But your Mom and I were also planning on spending the weekend together at the lake house, where we’re planning the wedding.” “I don’t feel like going Dad.” Miranda tells me in a soft voice. “I understand but you have to be there. You don’t want to be left out, do you?” “Please Dad.” Miranda begs. I sigh. “I’ll let Snow understand that you want to have a sleepover at Jessie’s place. I’m sure she won’t mind. Will there be other girls?” “It’s just Jessie and I.” She replies softly. “Then I’ll have Joseph drop you off tomorrow after school.” “Thanks Dad.” “Don’t mention it. I just want to see you smiling always and since Jessie makes you smile, that’s just what we need. Know that Snow and I love you very much.” “I know. You say it all the time.” Miranda replies and walks out quietly. It’s been three years s
Snow "Miranda has been kidnapped." Andre says. "What? How?" I ask him, letting him in. "Cody!" I call out. "Andre? What is it?" "We've been trying to reach you two but your phones were off. We were able to track your last known location and I remembered your parents live here so I came as fast as I could. Miranda was kidnapped yesterday after school. Detective Parker is looking for her now." "Who do you think took her?" Cody asks him. "Kylie is off the grid which means that she probably took Miranda. A picture of Miranda, tied up in an old warehouse was sent to Sam." Andre explains to us. "Let's go. No time to pack up." Cody says. We both run upstairs to get our phones while Andre leaves ahead of us. Then we make sure to lock the house and leave. Cody drives us back while I try to call Sam. Fifteen missed calls from her, Lee and Andre. I suddenly feel bad. If only we didn't decide to get drunk, we would've heard about the news and be there with Sam as the police search for Mir
Snow "Oh my God. My head hurts." I cry out loud and wince. My own voice piercing my ears, worsening the pain in my head. "This is the worst hangover I've ever had." Cody whispers. "No one has ever had a great hangover. But I agree, this is the worst. We should keep whispering. At least our voices won't worsen the pain." Unable to get up, Cody and I crawl to the kitchen. I spot the camera still secured in its corner. "How we managed to not break the camera is a miracle." I whisper "Indeed." Cody laughs and winces. "My throat hurts so bad." "Me too." We crawl to one cabinet in the kitchen which was thankfully located within our reach. Cody pulls out the first aid kit from the cabinet and I search for aspirin in the kit. Sitting on the ground, we take in the aspirin, slowly get up and fill glasses with water. We gulp it down and sit on the ground again. "I can't wait to watch what the video of what we did while we were drunk. My entire body hurts." I say to Cody "My arms hurt so
