BELLA

I never expected Kai to take my offhand suggestion so seriously. It had been a casual, almost playful remark—more an escape from the pressure surrounding us than a legitimate proposal. A chance at happiness my mum had called it but could I even find it?

Marriages or fates that I had seen throughout my life didn't end well. Didn't turn out the way people had spun it to be. It wasn't the moon goddess' plan to see us suffer. I was sure she wanted us to be happy or maybe she knew about it and this was all some twisted game but how would I know?

Grey and Cora's lives were intertwined, destined to be together but look at what they became. Marriage. The words tasted foreign in my mouth but looking at Kai it didn't make my insides squirm for all the wrong reasons.

So, here we were, discussing the terms of a contract marriage as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Kai's eagerness caught me off guard, but as I considered it, I realized it made a strange kind of sense. He had a

XAVIERThe mere sight of Layla was enough to turn even the brightest day to a dismal one. Irritation coursed through me as I walked through the corridors to my office where she was waiting for me.I rolled my eyes, clicking my tongue in annoyance as I reached for the key card in my pocket to unlock the door. I pushed the door open, walking in first and closing it in her face, not bothering to let her in.Regardless, Layla pushed the door open, the force causing it to hit the wall as I carefully dropped my things on my desk, removing my phone from my pocket first.I glanced at her as she simply stood there, her arms folded across her chest with a stupid look on her face. She looked every bit like the spoiled, overly entitled bitch she was.I sighed.Sometimes, I wished I could hit women.“Couldn't you at least open the door for me?” Layla snarled, her lips curled into a shape that just made her seem more appalling than usual. “I'm your younger sister. Treat me nicely.”I scoffed. “You

BELLAThe sound of Xavier's pen tapping against his desk was loud enough to cut through the quiet atmosphere of the hospital. It was deliberate, and most of all, pointed. He didn't even bother looking up when I stepped into his office, but the tension in his jaw told me everything I needed to know. He was still upset, and knowing Xavier, he wouldn't let it go easily.“I brought lunch,” I said, holding up a neatly packed container like a peace offering. He finally glanced at me, his expression skeptical. “What's in it?”“Grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, and steamed broccoli. Your favorite.”His pen stopped mid-tap, and he leaned back in his chair, eyeing the container like it might explode. “You think food is going to make me forget about this ridiculous situation with Kai?”I sighed, setting the container down on his desk. “It's not bribery, Xavier. It's an olive branch. And besides, you have to eat.”“I don't have to eat your guilt-trip lunches,” he muttered, though he didn't push t

BELLA.Don't let her ruin your mood!I internally chided myself and tried to smile when Kai leaned in and pecked me on the cheek. My face burned with heat as I put my head down and smiled shyly. I tried to pacify my racing heart and I pecked him back.“I'll be right back, I just want to get something, yeah?” I nodded as he stood and walked towards the exit door.As I gazed around the Ethiopian restaurant, I took in the vibrant atmosphere. The dim lighting, colourful traditional fabrics and eclectic decor all blended together to create a warm and inviting space. I looked at where Kai left, suddenly annoyed that he left me, then I found her gaze–Layla. My heart sank as she sauntered over, her eyes gleaming with malice. “Well, well, well, look what we have here,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Bella! My sister.”I fought the urge to roll my eyes at her petty attempt to put me down. I sighed, taking a few steps towards her.“Layla! What a pleasant surprise to see you. Can I h

BELLANot long after we finished eating, the waiter returned, his polished smile intact as he gestured toward the far side of the restaurant. “Mr. Kai, Miss Bella, your next activity is ready. If you'd follow me.”I glanced at Kai, raising an eyebrow in question. “Next activity?”Kai stood, extending a hand toward me. “You'll see. Come on.”His tone held a teasing edge, but I hesitated, eyeing him suspiciously before finally taking his hand. His grip was warm and steady, and though I hated to admit it, there was something weirdly reassuring about it.We followed the waiter down a short hallway and into a cozy room. It was smaller than the dining area, with soft lighting and an intimate vibe. My gaze landed on the setup: easels, canvases, and an array of paints and brushes neatly arranged on a long table. I blinked in surprise.“Painting?” I asked, turning to Kai with a mix of curiosity and amusement. He shrugged, his signature smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. “Thought we'd tr

BELLAHis lips were back on mine as soon as he locked the door. He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist as he walked towards the bedroom—his bedroom. He fumbled with the door knob, and when we finally got in, he kicked the door close with his leg. He walked towards the bed, dropping me on the soft surface. He took his shirt off, tossing it aside before joining me on the bed, lowering his weight over me but still keeping a little bit of space between us. I could feel the heat radiating off his body, the butterflies in my stomach a fluttering mess. Our gazes locked, our breaths already uneven. His eyes dropped to my lips and he claimed them again. This time, the kiss was passionate, hungry, fiery. I responded immediately, kissing him back with the same fervour. My hands went up to circle his neck, while his found my waist, his thumb brushing lightly on my skin, causing goosebumps to sprout on my arms.He pulled away and began planting kisses on my right ear and trailing t

BELLAAs I raised a forkful of food to my mouth, I caught Xavier watching me with a weird look. I let out a chortle. “What?”He shrugged casually and continued eating. Something was definitely on his mind. “Tell me.” I urged, but he didn't budge.Frustrated, I reached forward, pulling the fork out of his grip. “Hey!” He retorted.Just then, a curly headed Latina walked past our table, staring at me with disdain. Did I know her? In my distraction, Xavier took his fork back, a smile threatening to split his face in half.“Who's that?” I asked, nudging my head in the direction of the curly haired woman. Xavier turned in her direction and his smile instantly disappeared.“Oh,” his voice dropped, slightly above a whisper. “Nobody important.” He replied, turning away from her.“Trouble in paradise?” I asked, wiggling my brows playfully.“Uhm, no?” He dragged the no, making it sound like a question. “Why would you even think that?”“Because she's been ogling you? BELLAI stared at her for what felt like hours before a laugh tore through my lips. Elaine had to be really stupid, standing here, threatening me? Yeah, really stupid.“And this isn't a warning, it's a threat. Today's embarrassment is just the tip of the iceberg to what I'm capable of.“What more truck do you have up your sleeves?” I feigned intriguement, watching her with false enthusiasm. Her face now was scrunched up with her breaths coming out loud and mayme angry, but I loved that I was getting under her skin.“What do you think you are?” Elaine sounded like a mean high school girl and boy, was it hilarious. “Trying to take Mabel's place in Kai's life?”She knew Kai's ex mate? She scoffed, staring at me in the eye as she said the next words that registered in my soul like a carving on stone. “You could never measure up to her even if you tried. All you are is a pathetic loser, pining for someone else left overs.”“Elaine, that's enough.” Kai spoke as he approached us.“You don't

BELLAAfter that night, I just stopped talking to Kai altogether. No texts, no calls, no casual nods in the hallway of the hospital, which I never actually saw him in since the day we fought. I didn't block his number or anything dramatic—I just chose silence.I told myself it was for the best. No more confusion, no more wondering what every gesture or word meant. In reality, every time my phone buzzed, a small part of me wondered if it was him. And when it wasn't, I couldn't help feeling… relieved? Disappointed? Maybe a bit of both.Elaine, of course, couldn't keep her mouth shut for more than a day. By the time I got to work the next morning, everyone knew about Xavier, Ralph, Lennon and Hunter being my biological brother. The gossip spread like wildfire.“They're what?” Lily had asked me during our break, her eyes wide like she'd just heard the juiciest story of her life.“They're my brothers,” I admitted, not bothering to sugarcoat it.Amber's jaw dropped. “Wait, Xavier? BELLAThe bedroom was cloaked in shadows, the faint glow of moonlight streaming through the curtains doing little to warm the chill that settled in my chest. I sat cross-legged on the edge of the bed, staring blankly at the wall, the events of the day replaying in my mind like a cruel, never-ending loop. The wedding. My wedding. It had been perfect, a scene pulled straight from my dreams. The warmth of Kai’s hand was in mine as I walked toward him at the altar. The way his storm-gray eyes softened as they met mine as if I were the only person who had ever mattered. The vows we had written, brimming with promises of love and loyalty, were ready to be spoken into existence.“I do.” He had said. The words perfectly fell from his lips. It was like a weight was lifted off his chest as he said them. I loved it. I wanted to wake up every morning hearing it. The fact that he chose me. Loved Me. Wanted me. Everything was perfect. Everything. He was goin

KAIThe room felt smaller, the air heavier, as I stared at Mabel. Her name alone was a wound I thought had long scarred over, but seeing her now, alive and standing before me, reopened it. The chaos of the interrupted wedding still churned outside the room, but here, within these walls, it was as if time had frozen.I couldn't believe she was here. Here and staring at me with those fucking eyes. Eyes that destroyed me. Broke me to the point where I almost lost another chance at happiness, and love. She was a jinx, a curse. She stood straight-backed, her hands trembling despite her composed expression. Her presence alone was enough to make my blood roar, but it was the boy standing shyly beside her—dark-haired, wide-eyed, and painfully familiar—that shook me to my core.“I’m sorry,” Mabel began, her voice trembling but resolute. “I know this is not how you wanted your day to go, but I didn’t have a choice. BELLAThe sound of Mabel’s voice sliced through the air like a dagger, halting the ceremony in its tracks. All the warmth, the joy, the elation of the moment evaporated, leaving an icy tension behind.“I object!” she had said, her voice ringing with authority and venom. At first, I couldn’t even process it. My head turned instinctively, searching for her face in the crowd. And there she was, standing in the grand doorway of the hall, her figure backlit by the fading afternoon sun. The train of her crimson gown swept the floor like a river of blood, but it wasn’t her dramatic entrance that held me captive. It was the boy standing at her side.He was small, maybe five or six years old, his dark curls wild and unkempt. But it was his eyes that made my breath catch in my throat—storm-gray eyes, the exact shade as Kai.I didn't get what was happening. What was she doing her? My throat constricted.Whispers rippled through the crowd like a wave. My chest constricted, a crushing weight press

BELLAThe soft glow of moonlight spilled through the gossamer curtains as Kai and I stumbled into his bedroom, our laughter filling the quiet night. Kai’s strong arms encircled me, pulling me close as our lips met in a kiss that was both gentle and fervent. The taste of him was familiar yet intoxicating like the finest wine savored anew. My fingers found the line of his jaw, tracing it before sliding into his dark, unruly hair, pulling him even closer. Our kisses deepened, growing more urgent as they crossed the threshold into the bedroom. My back met the cool softness of the bed, and I felt Kai’s weight as he lowered himself beside me, his hands gliding along the curve of my waist. Each touch felt like a vow, a promise of his devotion, and in his arms, I felt the kind of love poets wrote about but rarely captured in words. The room was filled with the murmurs of our love, our intimacy a quiet storm that swirled around us, wrapping us in warmth. Later, when the passion ebbed, we lay e

BELLARuby, the owner of the boutique, held me at arm's length, examining me with a critical eye. "I'm so glad you're here, Bella," she said. "I've been dying to get started on your wedding dress. You're going to be the perfect muse for my new collection."I smiled, feeling a sense of excitement. Ruby and I had met online through social media, and we had quickly become close friends. She was a talented designer, and I had fallen in love with her designs. I had already decided to wear one of her special creations for my wedding."I'm so glad to be here, Ruby," I said. "But actually, I just came to get Kai's measurements for his suit. I've already decided on my dress."Ruby's face lit up with excitement. "Oh, wonderful! I'll get my best tailor to take Kai's measurements. And of course, we'll make sure his suit is perfect for the big day."As Ruby called over her tailor, I couldn't help but notice the blonde woman who had been rude to me earlier. BELLAAs I settled into the familiar comfort of our home, surrounded by my brothers, I finally felt a sense of ease wash over me. The tension of the past few days began to unravel, and my mind wandered back to the confrontation with Max.His question still lingered in my mind: "Why did you reject me?" I closed my eyes, and suddenly I was back in that moment.I remembered the way Max's eyes had locked onto mine, the way his voice had dripped with entitlement. And then, in an instant, Kai’s fist had connected with Max's face. The sound of the punch still echoed in my mind – a sharp crack that had made me flinch. I recalled the way Kai’s eyes had blazed with anger, the way he'd stood tall, his chest heaving with rage."It's none of your business," Kai had snarled, his voice low and menacing. "You've done enough for her already."The memory of Kai's words, his actions brought a surge of gratitude to my chest. He'd always been m

Why did I let Layla deceive me?I thought back to the day I met Bella. Her sparkling eyes, her bright smile, her infectious laugh. I was drawn to her like a magnet. But I was young, foolish, and blinded by my own ego.Layla, with her cunning words and seductive charm, had manipulated me into believing Bella wasn't the rightful heir to our family's legacy. She convinced me that Bella was inferior, that she didn't deserve to be part of my family. But the truth was far from it. Bella was the one the quadruplets loved and cherished more. They saw something in her that I didn't - her kindness, her compassion, her strength.I remembered the way the quadruplets would gather around Bella, listening to her stories, playing with her hair. Kai’s room was dimly lit, the heavy curtains drawn against the afternoon sun. I paced the floor as I recounted my confrontation with Layla to him, the adrenaline from the exchange still coursing through me.My hands clenched and unclenched at my sides as I replayed every word, every insult she had thrown at me, and her subtle slip about the speed boat. She was behind it or had something to do with it, I was sure.Kai listened intently, his sharp amber eyes following my movements. His presence was steady and grounding, even as the storm inside me raged. When I finally finished, he leaned back in his chair, his brow furrowed in thought.“She knew too much,” I said, my voice tight. “There’s no other explanation. Layla was involved. But how? How could she have tampered with the speed boat?” Evil people could always achieve anything, especially someone like Layla.Kai steepled his fingers, his expression grave. “She couldn’t have done it alone. Someone had tried to kill me, and every instinct screamed one name: Layla.I knew she had something to do with it. She always hated me and every single time we met, she managed to prove that.
