BELLA

The cold air of the evening breezed past my skin as Lennon and I walked back into the pack house. After listening to his lengthy explanation, I spent the rest of my time walking back in silence, taking in the news i was just given.

Layla was Luna Olive and Alpha Luther's foster daughter.

What a pleasant surprise.

She had pretty much been my replacement, or at least that's what Lennon said that everyone thinks.

Thankfully, I had prepared myself for something like this. Well, not exactly like this but I did brace myself for the possibility that I was going to have someone be in my place in my biological family already. I thought that by the time I discovered whether or not it was true I would be filled with rage, jealousy, maybe even bitterness. But what settled in my chest was none of those things.

Instead, I felt gratitude.

As much as I didn't like her as a person, and I still don't, Layla had brought comfort to my mother in my stead, how could I hate her for that? I just couldn

BELLAAfter a few days, I decided to move back into the pack house. And then I moved back out again.Honestly, it wasn't the hardest of decisions to make. It was due to several reasons but the tipping point had been one of Layla's usual performances. She practically sobbed, wailed, and spun lie after lie about how I was out to get her, how I resented her existence. Obviously every word that came out of her mouth was false. I knew it because of my ability and also because I was the one being lied about. But even with the truth staring her in the face, Luna Olive chose Layla.I didn't argue, didn't fight. I simply packed my things, told everyone that I was leaving, and walked out the door.Luckily for me, I didn't end up homeless. My other brother, Xavier, offered me a space in his apartment.Moving in with Xavier was easier than I expected. He worked as a consulting doctor at the same hospital where I'd just started a job. The minute he heard I had decided to move out of the pack house

KAIIt's been weeks since I last saw Bella, and I couldn't help the restlessness I've been feeling about all of it. Ralph told me to thread carefully but I honestly couldn't depict the hidden meaning behind it no matter how hard I tried. Her family members, particularly her mother, have been cold to me, making it clear with their actions that they didn't want me around the house. I had no reasons, but I'd be damned if I tried to force my way through doors that were shut in my face.Cora on the other hand was my responsibility and even in Bella's absence I made sure to take care of her mother. I had invited the best cardiologist in the country to treat her and from the reports from the doctor she was showing signs of improvements already.I yearned for her as all my mind could think of was her even as I tried to drown myself in piles of paper work. I had asked her to give me a chance but she never really gave me an answer.Nothing was as unsettling as not being able to even see her for

BELLAI groaned as I woke up, my head pounding like a drum. The sunlight streaming through my window made everything worse, and I buried my face in my pillow. My wolf wasn't going to let me off the hook, though.“You ruined a perfect night with Kai,” she scoffed, her voice sharp in my mind. “Of course, you'd mess it up. Too much to ask for a little restraint?”“Not now,” I mumbled, dragging myself upright despite the nausea swirling in my stomach. I tried to shake off the fragments of last night, but they came back in pieces: the way Kai politely turned me down when I practically begged to kiss him, the way his lips felt against mine. Fuck! The rush of emotions I hadn't been ready to deal with, and my spectacular decision to drink enough wine to forget about it. Clearly, it hadn't worked.I grimaced at what I did. Almost did to the poor guy. I practically threw myself at him. Another groan escaped my lips. Why did this happen to me? Why did I do something so dumb? The embarrassment hi

BELLASatisfaction. The word didn't cut it. What I felt after that confrontation with Layla surpassed contentment. I didn't know I needed to unleash and air out my mind until I did, and now I feel lighter. Happier even. I chuckled to myself as the image of her face scrunched up in a mix of shock and annoyance resurfaced in my mind. She was unnecessarily mean and needed to be taught a proper lesson. I was more than happy to do the honors. As I stepped into the locker room, the familiar scent of antiseptic and fresh laundry enveloped me, instantly calming my mind. I slipped out of my clothes and into a crisp, white scrub, the soft fabric a comforting hug against my skin. I couldn't help but smile as I thought about my patient for the day - Cora.My foster mother's warm, gentle face floated into my mind, and a wave of excitement washed over me. It had been a while since I'd seen her, and I couldn't wait to see her, check up on her progress, and how well she's been doing since we brought

BELLAI never expected Kai to take my offhand suggestion so seriously. It had been a casual, almost playful remark—more an escape from the pressure surrounding us than a legitimate proposal. A chance at happiness my mum had called it but could I even find it?Marriages or fates that I had seen throughout my life didn't end well. Didn't turn out the way people had spun it to be. It wasn't the moon goddess' plan to see us suffer. I was sure she wanted us to be happy or maybe she knew about it and this was all some twisted game but how would I know?Grey and Cora's lives were intertwined, destined to be together but look at what they became. Marriage. The words tasted foreign in my mouth but looking at Kai it didn't make my insides squirm for all the wrong reasons. So, here we were, discussing the terms of a contract marriage as if it were the most natural thing in the world.Kai's eagerness caught me off guard, but as I considered it, I realized it made a strange kind of sense. He had a

XAVIERThe mere sight of Layla was enough to turn even the brightest day to a dismal one. Irritation coursed through me as I walked through the corridors to my office where she was waiting for me.I rolled my eyes, clicking my tongue in annoyance as I reached for the key card in my pocket to unlock the door. I pushed the door open, walking in first and closing it in her face, not bothering to let her in.Regardless, Layla pushed the door open, the force causing it to hit the wall as I carefully dropped my things on my desk, removing my phone from my pocket first.I glanced at her as she simply stood there, her arms folded across her chest with a stupid look on her face. She looked every bit like the spoiled, overly entitled bitch she was.I sighed.Sometimes, I wished I could hit women.“Couldn't you at least open the door for me?” Layla snarled, her lips curled into a shape that just made her seem more appalling than usual. “I'm your younger sister. Treat me nicely.”I scoffed. “You

BELLAThe sound of Xavier's pen tapping against his desk was loud enough to cut through the quiet atmosphere of the hospital. It was deliberate, and most of all, pointed. He didn't even bother looking up when I stepped into his office, but the tension in his jaw told me everything I needed to know. He was still upset, and knowing Xavier, he wouldn't let it go easily.“I brought lunch,” I said, holding up a neatly packed container like a peace offering. He finally glanced at me, his expression skeptical. “What's in it?”“Grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, and steamed broccoli. Your favorite.”His pen stopped mid-tap, and he leaned back in his chair, eyeing the container like it might explode. “You think food is going to make me forget about this ridiculous situation with Kai?”I sighed, setting the container down on his desk. “It's not bribery, Xavier. It's an olive branch. And besides, you have to eat.”“I don't have to eat your guilt-trip lunches,” he muttered, though he didn't push t

BELLA.Don't let her ruin your mood!I internally chided myself and tried to smile when Kai leaned in and pecked me on the cheek. My face burned with heat as I put my head down and smiled shyly. I tried to pacify my racing heart and I pecked him back.“I'll be right back, I just want to get something, yeah?” I nodded as he stood and walked towards the exit door.As I gazed around the Ethiopian restaurant, I took in the vibrant atmosphere. The dim lighting, colourful traditional fabrics and eclectic decor all blended together to create a warm and inviting space. I looked at where Kai left, suddenly annoyed that he left me, then I found her gaze–Layla. My heart sank as she sauntered over, her eyes gleaming with malice. “Well, well, well, look what we have here,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Bella! BELLAI walked back into the pack house, my mind still reeling from the conversation I'd just had with Ralph. We'd been discussing everything that had been happening lately - the attacks, the strange occurrences, my son Ollie's kidnapping... Ralph had tried to reassure me that we'd get through it, that we'd emerge victorious in the end. But I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had been growing inside me.Just as I was starting to process my emotions, my phone rang, shrill in the silence. I glanced at the screen and my heart skipped a beat. It was a video call from Kai."I'm sorry, Ralph," I said, already moving away. "I need to take this."Ralph nodded, his expression understanding. "Go ahead, Bella. We'll talk later."I nodded and answered the call, my heart racing with anticipation. Kai's face appeared on the screen, his eyes locked on mine with an intensity that made my breath catch. Was something wrong?I couldn't shake off

KAII leaned against the stone wall, my arms crossed as I listened to Alpha Luther's concerns about the recent attacks. "We need to increase our patrols and gather more intel on the enemy's movements," Luther said, his voice firm.Lennon nodded in agreement. "I've been thinking the same thing, Alpha. We can't keep reacting to these attacks. We need to take the initiative.""I agree," I said, pushing off the wall. "But we also need to consider the possibility that these attacks are just a diversion. Harper’s smart; she wouldn't launch a full-scale attack without a strategy."Alpha Luther's eyes narrowed. "What are you suggesting, Kai?""I'm saying we need to look deeper," I replied. "What's Harper’s endgame? What's she trying to achieve with these attacks?"Lennon frowned. "You think she's after something specific?""I do," I said. "And I think we need to figure out what that is if we're going to stop her."Alpha Luther rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I see what you're getting at, Kai.

BELLAThe forest stood before me like a black maw, its dense trees weaving a near-impenetrable canopy that blocked out the moonlight. The Ruins Forest. Even saying the name aloud was enough to send shivers down the spine of most wolves.Abandoned for a century, it had become forbidden ground-a cursed reminder of the blood spilled during the pack wars.I stared into its depths, the diary clutched tightly in my hands. Ollie's notes had been clear: this was the first location to investigate. Still, a voice in the back of my mind whispered, Evelynn wouldn't put her base in such an obvious place. My wolf stirred uneasily. You don't have to do this alone.I shook my head, setting the diary into my pack. I'll be fine. Shifting into my wolf form, I padded forward, ears perked and senses on high alert. The stench hit me immediately--a vile mix of decay and something sour, chemical almost. I paused, my hackles rising as the air grew heavy around me.Every step deeper into the forest felt like e

  • Make Way, The Real Alpha Princess Returns!   Chapter 88 TEAMING UP

BELLAThe room was filled with the heavy scent of oak, leather, and tension. The round table in the center was surrounded by the most powerful Alphas in the region, each exuding their own brand of authority. Their voices rose and fell in heated arguments, the weight of their distrust hanging in the air like a thundercloud.Kai and I stood at the head of the table, flanked by Ralph, whose usually calm demeanor had slipped into something more rigid. I could feel Kai’s energy beside me, coiled and ready to strike, and I knew it wouldn’t take much to set him off.“This is ridiculous!” snapped Alpha Conrad, a burly man with graying hair and a perpetual sneer. “You expect us to believe this nonsense about witches and ancient werewolves? Sounds like a convenient excuse to expand your influence, Kai.”“Agreed,” chimed in Alpha Leona, her voice sharp enough to cut. She leaned back in her chair, her arms crossed, her dark eyes fixed on us with open suspicion. “Why should we risk our warriors on

KAIThe tires hummed against the asphalt, their low rumble filling the cabin of the black SUV as we sped down the highway. The road stretched ahead in a seemingly endless ribbon, flanked by dense pine forests on either side. The sunlight filtered through the trees, casting fleeting patterns of light and shadow on the windshield.Lennon was in the passenger seat, fiddling with the GPS like it was a puzzle he couldn’t quite solve. His dark, chestnut hair was a little disheveled from the rush to leave, and his expression hovered between amused and annoyed as he jabbed at the touchscreen.“Tell me again why you’re driving and not letting me?” he asked, finally giving up on the GPS.“Because I have control issues,” I said flatly, glancing at him. “And because the last time you drove according to your sister, you nearly ran the car into a ditch trying to avoid a raccoon.”“That raccoon had a death wish,” Lennon shot back, smirking. “I saved its furry little life.”“And nearly ended ours in

  • Make Way, The Real Alpha Princess Returns!   Chapter 86 SETTING OUT

BELLAThe house was unnervingly quiet when Kai and I stepped inside. I couldn’t shake the eerie sense that something vital had been ripped away. The air, usually alive with Ollie’s laughter or the faint strains of his humming, felt cold and stagnant. My heart tightened as I glanced at the small table near the door where he always left his shoes in a messy heap. Empty.Kai’s hand brushed mine as he closed the door behind us, the faint click of the lock echoing through the silence. “The beta said he disappeared during our meeting with Ralph and Amelia,” he murmured, his voice strained, low. I could hear the tight control in his tone, but his fists clenched by his sides told me how much he was holding back. He blamed himself just like I did. After everything Ollie had been through, after knowing he could have everything it was all just snatched away from him like it didn't matter. Like he didn't matter and I…. I just couldn't bear it. I couldn't lose him…. This. Us. What we could have be

BELLAThe morning air was crisp, the kind of cold that bit at your skin and seeped into your bones. The sky was painted in muted grays, heavy clouds hinting at a storm that hadn’t yet arrived. Kai and I walked side by side through the quiet packhouse courtyard, the frost-covered ground crunching softly under our boots. The calmness and trust between us was unspoken but palpable. After last night’s conversation with Ralph and my father and Kai’s help, I managed to slept. My thoughts that had been consumed by Harper, the ancient bloodline, and the vague, looming threat of her growing powe washed away because of him.But now, everything started becoming louder in my head.Kai’s hand brushed against mine, a subtle grounding gesture that reminded me he was there. I gave him a small, grateful glance before refocusing on the task ahead.Ralph and his mate, Luna Amelia, were waiting for us in the main hall. The pack’s alpha an

BELLAThe room felt smaller than usual, the air thick as if the walls themselves were closing in. I sat on the edge of the bed, legs crossed, fingers twisting the hem of my sweater until the fabric was stretched and wrinkled. My chest felt heavy, like a weight was pressing down, making it hard to breathe.Kai stood near the door, leaning against the frame with his arms crossed over his chest. His sharp gaze pinned me in place, silently urging me to speak, but he didn’t push. He never did. That made it harder somehow.“It’s not just the bond,” I murmured, barely able to force the words past the lump in my throat. My voice sounded brittle, as if it might shatter under the strain. “It’s me—what I am.”Kai’s posture softened, his shoulders relaxing as he straightened and took a step toward me. He didn’t rush, but I could feel the concern rolling off him like waves. When he finally sat down beside me,

LAYLA"What are you doing here?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Fear crept up my spine as Harper's eyes locked onto mine."I heard your wish, Layla," Harper said, their voice low and mysterious. "I heard you wanted to collaborate with the witches, just like Mabel did. And I'm here to grant your wish."My fear began to dissipate, replaced by a spark of hope. Revenge, I thought, my heart racing with anticipation. I wanted revenge against Max, against the pack that had rejected me."Do you really want revenge, Layla?" Harper asked, her eyes glinting in the dim light.I nodded, my voice firm. "Yes, I want revenge."Harper's face broke into a wide smile. She walked over to the bed, placing a hand on my shoulder. A strange sensation washed over me, like I was being sucked into something. And then, everything went dark. When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in a dimly lit room.
